Cute boyfriend story: We were playing catch at the park last Tuesday and he missed one of his catches. So I was giving him shit about it. And he told me (all with a grin and laughter in his voice) to shut up. This went on for a few seconds before I challenged him to SHUT ME UP. "Oh, you want me to shut you up? He would be so nervous, terrified that she would say no, even though they had been dating for forever and they were madly in love. 

He would spend months picking out the perfect engagement ring, traveling far and wide to find a ring that would compliment you nicely. He didn’t personally think that it was as beautiful as you, but what was? You were the most perfect thing on the entire planet.

He’d take you out for dinner, just like normal date nights, not wanting to raise your suspicion. But then afterwards, instead of taking you back to the car to head home, he would grab your hand and drag you along with him, not slowing his racing footsteps until he got there.

The beach where you had met. That one fateful day years and years ago. The place where your best friend so clumsily ran into his, making both of you run to the rescue. His entire life changed that day, and so had yours.

He would finally come to a stop, pausing to let both of you catch your breath.

“What are we doing here, Tommy?” You’d ask, confused as to why he would bring you to the beach well past sunset.

“Well, I just wanted to talk, you know. Thought it would be nice. The place we met and all.” He would run his hands through his hair, loosening the curls from the gel that had held them in place throughout the evening. “My life changed that day, you know?” He would let his hands fall to your waist, pulling you closer and squeezing lightly, letting you know that he was there without having to say a word. “You’ve changed my life so much, darling. Made me a better person, loved me even though I was an arrogant cliche when we met. Loved me despite all the times that I got distant or angry.” 

He would make sure to hold your gaze the entire time, wanting you to see every emotion that was pooling in his eyes in the form of tears. 

“Can’t believe you’ve stuck with me for this long. ‘M so lucky, love. Got the best girl on the planet. You’ve made me so happy. So, so happy.” By then, the tears would be freely rolling down his cheeks. One look at you would ensure that yours matched perfectly.

“You’ve been my everything. And I wanna be that for you. Every single day for the rest of our lives.” He’d reach into his jacket pocket and pull out a blue velvet box, getting down on one knee and watching as you fell apart in front of him.

“Y/N, would you please make me the happiest man in the world and do me the honor of letting me call you mine for the rest of time?” He’d be shaking, scared of your reply, always so scared you would realize that you deserved better.

But you never thought that. Never once. He was everything you wanted. Which is why you didn’t hesitate in grabbing him by the collar of his jacket, yanking him back up to you. You’d get your mouth really close to him, letting your lips ghost over one another’s before breathing out a, “Yes, Tommy.” and kissing him like your life depended on it.
