Honestly this whole AU is fun as hell for me as someone who enjoys multiple Nagito ships. Obviously Komaegi can be super-wholesome, and I love the idea of these two bonding over their sense of duty for their classes. The Komahina fan in me loves the idea of a weird relationship blossoming in Hajime avoiding being eaten and growing to know the zombie class and their caretaker. I can see some Komanami comfy in the idea of Nagito helping Chiaki get back her gaming skills, and sitting down beside her to do two-player games. Nekomaeda wholesomeness with zombie Nekomaru doing his best to try to keep Nagito healthy and staying on top of his checkups with zombie Mikan. A bit of Komazumi in there with Mahiru and Nagito as the designated team mom and dad of Class 77, being the most responsible and tidy ones. Some Kuzukoma with zombie Fuyuhiko gruffly stopping Nagito from doing anything too reckless and self-destructive. Twokoma cuddliness with Imposter being one of the zombies Nagito feels he can confide a little with about his troubles. Some BroTP potential for Nagito with Sonia and Ibuki. Hell, I even have a small soft spot for Komamiki, so Mikan treating Nagito with the medical skills she still has is sweet. Oh, and of course the Matsukoma potential with Matsuda as the one other human Nagito is in contact with.

Right? This AU quickly became multishipper paradise. As soon as I saw "What is Nagito's dynamic with his undead classmates?" the outcome was inevitable. It's just an inherently intimate scenario that becomes more so the more you think about it.

Same deal for Makoto ships, by the by, for largely the same reason.

Opinions on Nagito x Mahiru? Recently discovered the idea on some other Tumblrs and I think the concept is really cute. I mean I like all the Nagito rarepairs that partner him with a character that would help him take better care of himself (Nekomaeda, Roulette, Twokoma). But I could actually see these two bonding over Mahiru's area of expertise in photography. Since photos of people at their happiness would be exactly the kind of thing he loves to see in art.

Ah, I have such a soft spot for this ship!! There’s something about Mahiru’s stubborn personality that will do well keeping Nagito in check. She really won’t hesitate calling him out in the bluntest way possible and not buying much into his excuses. That being said, Nagito’s more calm and patient responses are going to be the key to defusing that hot temper she has because sometimes Mahiru can get a little too self-righteous for her own good. It’s a push and pull with these two. And don’t even get me started on Nagito’s attentiveness to reassure Mahiru when she becomes insecure and how she’ll shrug it off because it’s Nagito and he’s like this with all the Ultimates, but danggit does it still feel nice to have someone comfort her like this and pay this much attention to her and—UGH.

But you’re right, Nagito WOULD absolutely love to see Mahiru’s photography. It’s like she capturing others at their brightest—moments of hope forever encapsulated on film. And it makes me wonder if she’s ever felt the need to snap a pic of Nagito and his ever-present smile but always felt it was never fully honest. And then comes the idea of wanting to see Mahiru try to capture a genuine happy smile from Nagito and what she’ll do to get it. Cue Nagito seeing himself in the photo and being surprised he could actually look like THAT—like…someone full of life. Someone full of hope.

Man, I can’t help it. Things always go the sentimental/emotional route when I think about these two.💕

I saw your posts from a while back about Komanidai. Compelling stuff that improved my opinion of the ship. Would you be okay giving your thoughts on the other non-Hajime pairings/rarepairs for Nagito? Y'know, Komanami (Chiaki), Kuzumaeda (Fuyuhiko), Soumaeda (Kazuichi), Roulette (Gundham), Komamiki (Mikan), Komazumi (Mahiru), Twokoma (Imposter), Matsukoma (Yasuke).

He's a gay man, fuyuhiko would not put up with his bitch ass, i think komasoudanidai is cool but komasouda alone would rot, gundham would not put up with his bitch ass, he's a gay man and they hate each other, he's a gay man and she's a lesbian who hates him, the imposter does not deserve that, he's got enough problems to fuck yasuke at least once but it wouldn't be a good relationship by any means
