LAURIE IS MY FAVORITE
(just kidding i love all of them equally)
he is just...a very pissy dude. he can pretend not to be but by and large he’s easily annoyed, kind of a jock (he likes swimming and running), and a little bit of a manipulative arse. nevertheless he can be startlingly kind. he likes watching the effect he has on other people, whether that’s by flirting with them (Daniel) or needling them incessantly (Karl)
(...or being kind to them when they don’t expect it)
though he’s abused at the beginning of the story, he gets over it remarkably quickly through basically sheer force of will - he’s too spiteful to allow another person’s control over him to dictate his life, and he hates the expectation that he needs to be meek and quiet about his suffering. in this regard he’s opposite Karl once again; Karl is still affected by what happened to him, and still struggles not to give in to it. and though Laurie wouldn’t admit to it, he has nightmares about being hurt again, and often aggressively overreacts to small threats in order to fend off the possibility of larger ones.
he’s not a very instantly likable guy, but he isn’t trying to be unless he is. he’s selfish and vain and rude, and he’s still a wonderful person somewhere underneath all of that.
also he is trans, and though he socially transitioned quite early and gave himself voice training, most of the time he just passes as a feminine guy with a bit of glamour and condescension. he doesn’t want top surgery but he’s on magical T, which he’d like to someday go off of.

total lunar is my main wip! i love this baby with all my heart. it's difficult to visually explain but basically, feride sets up a dude on light during a drunken night at her friend's party and awakens with her lifelong crush pulling her violently away from the crime scene because oh my god she's killed someone. it's not as dark as it sounds i promise, feride just fucks with light and loses control and now she's not only dying but also being hunted by the district authorities for murder. the only way out is to find out what happened that night but easier said than done, neither of them remember a thing. yeah that's all i can say without revealing spoilers. i tend to write shorter stories so this maybe about 30k at most!
