VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 23
A dapper Enjolras, perhaps taking a Sunday turn about the Bois de Boulogne, complete with those stylish yellow gloves.  How uncharacteristic.  :)

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 24
This is funny, but I don’t think I’ve ever posted pics of my Combeferre doll.  He’s an Iplehouse BJD that I’ve had for a few years, and I long ago did his face-up (including prodigious sideburns, lol) and sewed all the clothes for him and got him his Combeferre wig and glasses, but I’d never done a good photo shoot with him because I was too lazy to make up a set for him.  So I finally did, and we shot some Combeferre pics.  :)  (And yes, he totally keeps an “Enjolras” statue bust on his mad scientist shelf...not creepy at all.  ;))
Oddly, this isn’t the first time I’ve dressed up a doll as a Les Mis character... Witness my Fantine Felicity from my misspent youth of sewing doll clothes:

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 20
We all know how whimsical Prouvaire’s tastes are in clothing, so when he receives guests wearing the most flamboyant of flamboyant Ottoman robes instead of a regular old dressing gown, no one could exactly be surprised.

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 18
Enjolras and Combeferre do an awful lot of chillin’ at home, so here’s the usual state of affairs in every other chapter.  :)

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 26
Joly, looking Art Nouveau epic.  This is a re-do of an old drawing I never finished, now finally colored!

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 28
It’s 28 July (1830), we’re in full barricade mode now, and Feuilly is the undisputed master of barricade design.  :)

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 30
One last Enjolras and Combeferre for the month.  These two often seem to be caught in the midst of devious plotting.  ;)

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 21
Within a half hour we were sitting around sipping coffee quite comfortably, both in nightshirts, and he with the addition of his old dressing-gown, a patched bit of green velour that never seemed to get thrown out whenever he did housecleaning.  He had offered me his armchair, but I preferred the bed, and I sat there cross-legged with my back leaning against the wall.  We were silent, perfectly companionable, and I had the satisfaction of seeing him truly relaxed, lounging in his armchair with his feet up on his desk, pipe in one hand and coffee in the other.  As his commander, I had the greatest appreciation for his exactitude, but as his friend, I took the greatest pleasure in these rare unguarded moments when he took no notice of how wild his hair was, how indecent his clothing might be, how broadly he laughed and how colorfully he cursed.
--Virago, 1830.3
A typical hangout at Combeferre’s place.  Enjolras has a distinct lack of “decency” in these hangouts, though I think Combeferre is too much of a gentleman to point it out.  ;)

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 27
Grantaire is always a fun chance to test out different art styles...My ordinary styles aren’t well suited to “astonishingly ugly.”  ;)

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 3
Feuilly at work.  I do a lot of these Feuillys painting, don’t I...?  Must be something meta that appeals to the artist.  :)
I sometimes don’t think I adequately express just how much I loved writing Feuilly in Virago.  He’s so different from most of the others, such a straight-laced, businesslike guy, and I love writing those guys, the quiet cowboy types who get things done without talking shit the whole time.  ;)

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 17
Yes, Bahorel will pose sexy for you, but he doesn’t have to like it.  ;)
I was at the Herman Melville house in Massachusetts yesterday; maybe that’s why this fella gives me vibes of a slutty Ahab.  O__o  [Edit: I just realized why this is......It’s because I forgot his mustache.  Lame!  Well, let’s pretend he went through a sad phase where he tried having chin-beard sans mustache, and everybody acted like it was cool, until one day Combeferre discreetly informed him that everybody preferred him with mustache, and he grew it back and this phase was never spoken of again.  There.  :P]

VIRAGO ART CHALLENGE: Day 7
Before I could say a thing, Laigle had leapt over the chairs and dashed out to them, Farcy following.  Through the window, Combeferre and I watched the silent scene as Joly glanced up, spotted Laigle from across the street and ran forward to meet him, and they fell into each other’s arms in the middle of the street.  Beside me, I heard Combeferre sigh, a little puff of relief that also gave off a certain sense of wistfulness, and he murmured, “They’re lovely.”
--Virago, III.4
That time Joly got arrested, and Laigle got protective.  :3
