my toxic trait is focusing more on the music when watching a tv show or a film than the actual storyline

@1995lahaine tagged me to post 8 shows to get to know me 🤔 I'm only going to do shows that have ended which I think are worth revisiting. tagging @akajustmerry @anthonysperkins @summoneryuna @sonyarebecchi @toraks @a24thegreenknight @holly-mckenzie
Utopia (2013-2014) created by dennis kelly. beauty is terror we quiver before it etc etc oh this show is so violent and beautiful and so deeply human I explode every time I think about it. you know cristobal tapia de veer from the white lotus soundtrack but that is Nothing compared to the work he did on this.
Bojack Horseman (2014-2020). as someone who loves movies this show is truly the best meta fiction out there about Hollywood that isn't afraid to throw punches. hilarious and brutal. the animation format and animal absurdity allows them to tell real unrestrained narratives that I don't think live action could ever achieve. Raphael bob-waksberg will never get his foot off my neck
The Bisexual (2018) despite the title I genuinely think desiree akhavan made the greatest lesbian story of all time with this. short, sweet, and soul crushing precarious fleabag type miniseries. also she's sooooo hot oh my GOD
Mr. Robot (2015-2019) it's a shame people forgot about this show towards the end and stopped watching because it is truly theeee speculative epic of all time speaking to issues of capitalism and identity and rebellion. between this and the lazarus project it's like a spiritual sequel to Utopia in the way it explores how much of yourself you have to sacrifice to escape from All This. probably got my favourite needle drops of all time.
The Hour (2011-2012) can you believe the bbc cancelled a show about a bbc show trying to be cancelled? between this and the newsreader yeah I'm obsessed with dramas about people who don't get to tell the truth
Les Revenants (2012-2015) are you sure. are you sure you're not a ghost?
Cowboy Bebop (1998) of course.
Westworld (2016-2022) I hate this show so fucking much there's so many things wrong with it that get my blood boiling but it's also one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. the only thing that makes me feel human is the way I'm treated. I choose to see the beauty. motion picture soundtrack. ramin djawadi is everything to me.
these are my mains but I also highly recommend (other than the obvious succ/yj/iwtv/etc) :

for the identity asks — 3; 4; 6; 11; 28; 29 ❤️
Thank you for these lovely and thought-provoking asks, boo! I love these challenging-type, deep questions.
3. List your fandoms and one character from each you identify with. This is one of many instances where I’m a nerd. I’ve never been big into TV/movies, and I’m not a huge series reader, because I feel that most of them are fantasy-based or YA (or combination of both) and I’m not a fan of those genres. I’m just going to concentrate on the Ben Barnes fandom, because why not?
The Punisher: I identify with Micro. I love me some damn Micro, the super intelligent nerd with a dash of bad-assery.
Westworld: No likeness in this character with his lifestyle whatsoever, but I weep for Logan Delos and identify with him as in always feeling like I fall short, and dark days where I am convinced I’m a fuck-up.
Jackie & Ryan: I completely identify with Ryan, his craving for freedom, his wanderlust, the way he’s completely fine with being a loner and feels fulfilled in being so.
Gold Digger: I couldn’t possibly identify any more with Benjamin in being completely misunderstood a great majority of the time.
4. Do you like your name? Is there another name you think would fit you better? I answered this one already for @crushed-pink-petals-writes but typing this out made me remember that when I was little (like ages 5-8 or something like that) I was obsessed with the name Gabriella and wanted to change my name.
6. Are you religious/spiritual? Let me preface this by saying I was baptized as/raised Catholic. I’m what people call a “bad Catholic”-- I don’t go to Church. I feel more connected with God when I’m alone, praying and just talking to him. I don’t believe in a majority of Catholic beliefs. I do pray and believe in God and Jesus, I’ve been through a lot in this life and without telling my life story, I’ve witnessed miracles. I consider myself much more spiritual than I do religious.
11. Describe your ideal day. Man, oh man, I’m such an amalgamation of so many people. Let’s go with the way I’m I feeling today: My ideal day would include waking up to steady rain that lasts all day. I’d have no brain fog or pain and would be completely connected with my mind. My soundtrack for the day would be solely the rain, and either the scratch of a pen on paper or the light clicking of my keyboard. I’d write. I’d drink some hot tea, and lots of ice water, I’d be at home alone, and alternate the writing with reading. We did say ideal, so I’d be doing this stuff in a comfortable, cozy, shabby-chic styled reading nook type space with a picture window to look out of and... I’m so longing for this. Simple, quiet, productive me time. And maybe, when it’s dark, trading that tea or ice cold water for some pink moscato would be nice.
28. On a scale from 1-10, how hard is it for someone to get under your skin? I used to be so totally chill. I was known for telling people, “Just chill out, man” or “Worry about it tomorrow.” Now? I am riddled with anxiety, 24 hours a day, and have to take medication to sleep. I’m not worried about a specific thing most of the time, so there’s really no way to combat that. Anyway, it used to take a lot to get under my skin, to the point where sometimes I felt like a doormat because of it. Now? I’m easily annoyed by certain things, like too much noise, even if it’s at a low volume. Someone watching a video on their phone and the TV going and people having a conversation all at the same time, I can’t handle. I’ve never had much patience, but now it’s rare I have any. I just don’t have the desire to deal with bullshit or drama, and I’m at a point now where I am who I am, and if someone doesn’t like that, I won’t apologize for it. My brain is always going, and I feel overwhelmed a lot, so it’s becoming a 3-4 on that scale of getting under my skin. I’m trying to change that and get back up to an 8-9 level.
29. Three songs that you connect with right now.
Clementine by Halsey
Side Effects by Jade Bird
The Fucking Best by Matilda Mann

Film Ask 21. Films with an amazing soundtrack.
I'm assuming this question meant movie scores. Here we go. This will be a bit of a rant.
Everything by Hans Zimmer. Including but not limited to: Interstellar. Inception. The entire Dark Knight Trilogy. Dunkirk. The Lion King. Man of Steel. Gladiator. Pirates of the Caribbean. Kung Fu Panda. 12 Years a Slave. Batman v Superman. Sherlock Holmes. There are more. Everything he's touched has been great.
Tron Legacy - Daft Punk. You don't have to like the movie, but the soundtrack is fucking great. Daft Punk is always a win.
Cloud Atlas - Tom Twyker. Okay, I know this is a movie almost no one has heard of or seen, but please see it. It's a perfect movie. Well written, spectacular acting, amazing production and visual effects, and the one of the most beautiful scores ever put in film. The End Title makes me tear up every time.
Star Trek - Michael Giacchino. Nuff said.
Everything Ramin Djawadi has done for Game of Thrones, Westworld, and Iron Man. Light of the Seven, The Night King, the main Westworld theme, need I go on?
Every score Alan Silvestri did for the Avengers movies. Duuuuuuun. Dun-dun dun- duuuuun. Duuuuun. Duuuuun. Duuuuuuuuuuuuun. And Forrest Gump.
All of Murray Gold's music for Doctor Who, especially Twelve's Theme, Clara's Theme, and all of the Heaven Sent music. Triumphant, heartbreaking genius.
John Powell in all of the How to Train Your Dragon movies.
Howard Shore in Lord of the Rings. How could I almost forget this one?
King Kong - James Newton Howard. This one doesn't get enough love. I just recently listened to the score for the first time, and the music is a lot better than I remember from my first viewing.
The Mission: Impossible franchise as a whole. Especially Rogue Nation and Fallout. Anything is possible with the MI theme playing.
Oh, and anything by John Williams. The God of Film Scores himself. I mean, no one commands more gravitas in film scores than Williams.
I know this kinda turned into more of a love letter to film scores and composers than being about films with great soundtracks, but I don't care. Film scores are a huge part of what turns a good film into a great film, and we as a society need to appreciate them more.
