feeling insane abt javert again.
he is a fascinating character to analyze + compare against valjean + is such an interesting personification of the faults of the french legal system, of the way lawfulness can become twisted when not tempered by mercy. dedication to the flawed human construct of justice versus dedication to the religious concept of mercy + forgiveness.
but. more importantly: javert is fucking hilarious. his sense of humor is so dry + off-putting. he takes himself so seriously but his comments are so jarringly silly. i adore my fucked up little plot device of a man.

I’ve been ruminating on why Hybrid Creatures seemed to be a big thumbs down of an episode (I’m extra disappointed bc when I first saw the title I thought it was going to be about Guillermo being a ‘hybrid’ vampire which is my own fault but still)…
I think my main issue comes to do how they paired the characters in the episode and how they used those pairings.
E.g. Guillermo and Laszlo are always such a funny dynamic, Harvey and Matt know exactly how to play it with their characters and their scenes in the episode was probably the funniest parts. So WHY did we end up with all the scenes of just Guillermo talking to the creatures with Laszlo nowhere to be seen?! It would have been so much funnier if the episode was about Guillermo AND Laszlo trying to figure out what to do with the creatures together (I think solo Guillermo + creatures contributed to making those scenes 100x weirder to watch).
Also Nadja and that random woman was a big miss for me (*cough* a great moment to use the Guide - your series regular *cough*). The Colin/Nandor stuff was the only plot that really worked imo mainly because they just let the pairing dynamic and characters be more natural and therefore funny. In all honestly that would have been a mid tier plot if the rest of the episode wasn’t so odd
Anyway I love Shadows and I’m only extra critical to the shows I love because I know they’re better than that 🥰😘

Man, I wish we could be like, 180+ cm because I desperately wanna loom over Oskar and make Val feel rattled over being able to meet a woman's eye so easily. Burkhand might also sell us to a travelling circus because we are fucking gigantic, which is a bonus (we get to get away AND we can clown in peace).
being tall is overrated lol being short is better bc you get monkey training and the thought of aab mc just climbing random shit to fuck with val is 100x funnier imo

the idea of indruck is 100x funnier to me when i think about what a disaster indrid is. he has molding cups of eggnog. his trailer is a fire hazard. every piece of his clothing is stained. he probably hasn’t showered in weeks at any given time. he has chicken legs and hair that constantly looks like his roots are growing in weird. he shows up uninvited to parties in stolen designer clothes that smell like air fresheners. and duck is like someone picked every middle slider with a cat
duck?? middle slider???? duck newton, former stoner band kid - low brass band kid, no less - who immediately upon losing his powers dug a skateboard out of his closet to go to work? a skateboard which he still knows how to use with enough level of skill to skitch on a cop car? perhaps in the course of his life he tried to force everything towards being a middle slider person, but in my mind, he’s as much of a disaster as indrid is. just... more functional. and it’s that contrast that makes them so neat imo. but jesus christ, your description of indrid is super super good lskdjflskdjf
