-10 Years-
You were standing on the pitch looking at the people, standing in the stands.
It was the Champions League final of 2014.
Wolfsburg vs Barcelona.
This was your dream coming true, at seventeen you were playing for one of europe's biggest Womens football teams and you were on your way up.
You started warming up when you saw her, you were instantly mesmerized by the brunette beauty.
She was warming up and talking to a teammate when she laughed and you could see her beautiful smile.
You couldn't take your eyes off her until a teammate of yours told you to come to the tunnel and get ready to walk out.
Once you got into position in the tunnel, you saw her again.
But this time she caught you looking and shyly smiled at you.
Your heart fluttered, you desperately wanted to talk to her but now you had to focus on the upcoming final.
53rd Minute, the first half was boring other than a yellow card for your teammate Alex Popp, but now you were sprinting down the right wing. You dribbled past the defenders and shot, the ball was supposed to meet one of your teammates heads, but instead it flew further and curved over the keepers fingers into the goal.
You sprinted into the arms of your teammates, you couldn’t believe it you just shot your first Champions League goal, and that in a final.
After the game was over and you got your medals, you were standing on the field, looking around yourself and taking it all in.
You turned around and saw that beautiful smile that made your heart flutter. You quickly turned back around, hoping that she didn’t catch you staring at her.
Suddenly you felt a tap on your shoulder, you turned around:,, Hola Hermosa’’ You were met with those beautiful eyes:,,H..hi’’ You stuttered and readiness shot up your face. ,, Would you maybe swap shirts with me?”, she spoke in with that beautiful accent of hers and your face only grew more red.
You quickly nodded and took off your shirt she followed and suddenly you were met with the body of a goddess and you couldn't tear your eyes away from her torso. You felt her looking up and down your body until she put your shirt on:,,Adios, hermosa, I'll see you again.” She leaned in and gave you a light kiss on the cheek.
You put her shirt on and tried to stop the blush that crept up your cheeks:,, Scheisse” you cursed at the realization that you had a crush, a crush on a hot spanish lady who is on the way to being on of the best footballers ever known in history. You really were in deep shit.
You were playing at Olympic Lyon now.
And as history likes it, it was the Champions league final of 2018 and you met Alexia , now your Girlfriend, at the stadium.
It was actually quite funny to you that you kept your relationship a secret for almost 3 years now. No one knew, only a few close family members. You both were in your own bubble, you flew over to Barcelona as often as you could and Ale came over as often as she could.
Your love life were lazy mornings, secret messages and meetings.
That’s how you found yourself in this situation. In a storage closet of the stadium you were playing in.
Ales lips were on yours and your hands on her waist:,, I missed you so much Amor’’
She kissed along your ear while whispering.  ,,Me too Schatz. I love you so much Schatz’’, Your head snuggled into the crook of her neck and you just enjoyed the warmth that radiated off her, she loved when you  used her as a human pillow. You would randomly lay your head on her lap or her shoulder or bury it in the crook of her neck.
,,,How long do you think we can keep this up? I mean like staying a secret?’’, you ask the love of your life because that's what she was, the love of your life and you were so freaking sure of that.
She kisses your head:,, As long as we want to mi amor’’ We stayed like this for a few more minutes before we went our separate ways to our changing rooms.
It was all over now. Lyon won the champions league. you did it again, your second champions league title.
After you let that sink in you realized the love of your life just lost the champions league final.  The next thing you did was walk over to your love and close your arms around her:,,You played so well my love. You were amazing. I love you so much.’’
She looked up and you saw the tears in her eyes. You quickly looked around if anyone could hear you: ,, I love you mi amor. And you're not sleeping at your hotel tonight. You will come home with me and then i’ll let you do whatever you want to me.’’ I whispered the last bit into her ear and could immediately see her smirk and the lust in her eyes.
,, Sí, mi amor. Te amo.’’,with that Ale went back to her teammates.
The next morning you were really  happy to have the day off because you literally couldn’t walk after Alexia had her fun with you…
After months of hard work it was finally the off season and you had booked a romantic getaway for you and your girlfriend. You planned everything months in advance.
You wanted it to be perfect because in a few hours you would propose to the love of your life.
The hotel room had been decorated by the staff in a very romantic manner. Rose petals were laid down in a heart shape on the balcony.
From the balcony you could directly see the Eiffel Tower.
After your flight and a short taxi ride you and Alexia stood in front of the hotel room door. Before you opened the door you made Alexia put down her luggage and turned her around, back facing the wall.
You then unlocked the door. You made sure she had her eyes closed and led her into the room.
You leaned up and kissed her neck lightly. ,,Open your eyes’’,you whispered into her ear.
,,Oh Amor, it’s beautiful’’, she turned around and kissed you with immense passion.
You pulled away:,,Baby we can do that later, first we have a wonderful dinner to enjoy’’, she pouted until she heard that there was dinner for you both.
You lightly chuckled at that and led her to sit down on the sofa and brought both your suitcases into the bedroom.
You both sat on the sofa for a while embraced in each others arms. When dinner came you sat down at the table and enjoyed it.
After dinner you put on perfect by ed sheeran over your music box:,,Dance with me mi amor’’ You took her hands and put them around your waist, your hands found her neck and rested there.
When the song stopped you kissed her deeply. You suddenly became very nervous as you remembered the ring in your back pocket.
You took a deep breath and led Alexia outside.
You stood on the balcony opposite of Alexia.
You took her hands in yours:
,,Mi amor, you are the love of my life. I have known that since the moment I first saw your beautiful face in that stadium. Whenever I see you everything lights up. You make my world brighter mi amor, without you the light would be missing. We helped each other through wins and losses and I couldn’t imagine my life without you and I don’t want to imagine my life ever without you.’’
I got down on one knee and pulled the ring out.
,,Alexia Putellas Segura, mi amor, love of my life, mein Schatz: Quieres casarte conmigo?’’
She had tears running down her face before pulling you into a kiss: ,,Si mi amor, I will, i love you so much!’’
Now years later, you just transferred to Barcelona to be with your wife.
None of your teammates knew, but that would change today.
You were with the higher ups signing your contract while Alexia was just arriving at the changing room. She was wearing her wedding ring for the first time around the team.
She was putting her things down in her cubby when she heard Frido: ,,Alexia! Is that a wedding ring?’’
She took her hand in her own and inspected the ring. That’s when the rest of the team realized what was just said.
But before Alexia could say anything you walked through the door. Alexias face lit up once she saw you and she quickly made her way over to you:,,Hola mi amor.’’
She lightly pecked you on the lips.
Alexia put her arm around your waist as Aitana asked: ,,How long have you been together?’’
,,10 Years’’

Sarina Wiegman: Hopefully not too busy to spend time with my grandchild.
Interviewer: I’m sure you’ll find the time for that.
Sarina Wiegman: I’ll make some time.
Noisily Lucy Bronze tapped on the shoulder of her England Coach: “Time for what?” “Hi Lucy.”, cheerful Sarina Wiegman turned around to greet her football player. With a huge grin on her face the defender hugged the smaller woman:“ Hey, good to see you.”
“Is it just me or do you keep getting taller?”, Sarina sked her jokingly. With a mischievous smile Lucy decided to mock her coach:“ Maybe, you’re just getting smaller.”  “Sure, Lucy”, the dutch woman responded by rolling her eyes. Jokes about her height were getting old in her opinion.
You’ve been following the conversation from afar but now decided to join in by telling her: “No, you’re right mum, she’s been standing even taller since the news.”
“She does, right?”, your mother sharing the observation of yours with an amused look on her face.  While you agreed on that matter with her, your girlfriend proudly slang an arm around your waist: “Definitely.”
“As if you weren’t happy about it.”, Lucy said to Sarina laughing, her green eyes sparkling with happiness.
”I am happy.“, Sarina admitted. Lucy raised her eyebrow in a 'Told you so' manner. You glanced from your mum to your girlfriend, rolling your eyes in amusement, ”Guys!“ ”What?“ ”Calm down, the news aren‘t out yet.“, you reminded them.
Lucy nodded, ”Right.“ ”Actually…“, Sarina started but you didn‘t have time to hear her out. With a glance at the time you grabbed Lucys upper arm, ”Oh shit. We need to get ready. See you after the game, mum.“
Sarina smiled gently at the two of you, ”Of course. Good luck. And don‘t come back without the Champions League title.“ ”Don‘t worry. We‘ll bring this one back to Barcelona.“, you reassured her, cheerily. ”I‘m sure about that.“
After changing into your jerseys and warming up, you found yourself in the tunnel of Eindhovens stadium. Lucy was standing right behind you. You felt her warm breath against your ear as she whispered, ”Be careful out there, okay?” You didn‘t look back, you just nodded, ”Okay.“ Slowly, your girlfriend took a step back and clapped her hands, ”We‘ve got this.“
You were full of excitement and impatience as you stepped out on the pitch. When the first whistle blew, you were bouncing on your toes, ready to fight for the champions league title. But it took your opponent Wolfsburg only three minutes to score the first goal, the second one followed right before the half time. This was not the start you all were expecting to this very important game.
But during the half time talk it was clear that none of you would let this first half get you down. Lucy caught your eyes in the dressing room, giving you a small smile and a defiant nod. You felt ready and energized stepping back out, wanting to do your part to lead your team to a win.
It felt like a miracle to you, only a couple of minutes into the game and you've got the chance to score a goal. Way too late you realized that Alexandra Popp crashed into you, as you both fell to the grass. Quickly the german striker got on her feet again while you stayed on the ground.
The first teammate who ran to you your side was Lucy, offering her hand to help you up aswell:" Hey, are you alright? Let me help you."
"It hurts.", you whinced, feeling the pain taking over your whole body. Worried your hand went automatically to your stomach, scared for the baby inside you.
That's when your girlfriend  lost her usual calmmess and started to panic:"Shit. We need the medical team,  here!" "Lucy, calm down, it did not look too bad.", Keira tried to reassure the defender.
Devastated Lucy shouted:"You don't get it, Kei!" "No, because you two refuse me to tell what's going on.", the red haired midfielder answered cooly. Nervously Lucy went with one hand through her dark hair, unloosing her head bun in one angered swipe:"Not now."
"Girls..", you tried softly to stop them from arguing.  In a tone which did not let you dare to disagree your girlfriend said: "You need to get off the pitch."
To the doctor who was taking care of you she demanded, her worry dripping through every word:"You need to check her thoroughly." "Lucy, we know how to do our job properly, but you need to let go off her hand now.", the doctor answered slightly annoyed by her clinginess to you.
Under her breath Lucy stated angrily:" Don't tell me how to treat my girl!"
"See you later, it's going to be okay.", you tried to calm her down.
”I‘ll come check on you as soon as the game is over.“, Lucy promised, her mouth pressed into a thin line. You gave a silent nod and let the doctor help you back inside to the treatment rooms of the stadium.
As the doctor assessed you, you heard fans cheer several times but you couldn’t make out who scored. Time didn‘t seem to pass at all in here.
At last, you heard the final whistle being blown and the fans erupting into a roar celebrating their teams success. But you still didn’t know who whose it was.
Lucy didn‘t even stay to celebrate with her teammates when the game ended. She stepped off the pitch and was on her way to the dressing rooms, when Sarina called her name, ”Lucy!“
”No, I don‘t know anything yet, Sarina.“, she replied and stopped only reluctantly. Her coach nodded in understanding and took a step towards Lucy, ”Congratulations on winning though.“ ”Thanks.“ ”You don‘t look happy about it.“, Sarina noticed.
Lucy just shook her head with slight anger, ”Are you seriously surprised about that?!“ ”No. Sorry.“, she replied quietly. With a deep sigh, Lucy calmed herself down and offered, ”Do you want to come with me to see how she is?“ ”I do.“
Both women walked silently side by side through the corridors until they reached the treatment rooms. Sarina stopped and gestured towards the door, ”You can go in first.“ Lucy mumbled a thanks before entering the room.
You looked up, trying to read your girlfriends facial expression, ”Lucy, did we win or lose?“ ”I‘ll tell you when you tell me if you’re okay.“ Lucy sat down next to you. Carefully, you took her hand in yours, ”We‘re okay, Lucy.“ Her eyes were still full of worry as she studied your face, ”Both of you?“
"Yes?", Lucy asked anxiously not trusting the good news yet. With an inviting smile you padded on the free side of your bed:"Luce, come here." "I'm glad you're okay.", she  sighed in relief.
Impatiently you tapped her shoulder: "Will you tell me now who won?" "We did. We're champions leauge winners.", she proudly kissed the top of your blonde head.
A bright smile appeared on your lips: "That's amazing." "It's more important that you two are alright.", the defender pointed out in a serious tone.
"But you should not miss out on the party, love."  Stubbornly Lucy answered:"I don't care about the party."
"And we don't care about that either.", Sarina and Keira explained while entering the room. Moved you looked at them: "Mum, Kei.." "How are you?", the lionesses coach asked clearly worried.
Quickly you tried to soothe her by saying:"I'm alright." "I'm glad you're. That looked really bad.", you're mum replied. Sternly Keira agreed:"It really did."  "They're both okay.", Lucy stated.
Excited the midfielder looked between the defender and you:" They? You're going to be mums?! We need to celebrate that."
"That took you a lot less longer than I expected.", your girlfriend laughed. Immediately you interfered, smirking:" Don't be rude to her, she's like my sister!" "She knows I'm just kidding.", Lucy grinned.
Thrilled Keira clapped her hands:"I do, let's celebrate!"

The Interview.
Lena Oberdorf x Barcelona Reader
This takes place pre-UWCL 2022/23 final.
Wolfsburg vs Barcelona
In which both are asked to do an interview together on the lead up to the final. Where they answer questions and play games.
During the interview it’s obvious that there’s a mutual attraction to one another. Even though both are oblivious to how the other feels. Much to the delight of their club teammates and the fans online that are shipping together.
Maybe instead of celebrating with her teammates, Reader goes and comforts Lena after their loss in the final?
The interview.
Lena x Barça player!reader.
Tumblr media
"Hello! You can sit down right there." - said the interviewer as you sat down. You had just came from hair and makeup. Although they did do much. - "We are just waiting for the other player."
"Who is it?" - You asked curiously. The only information you got before hand was that you were doing a couple videos ahead of the UWCL final, with a player from Wolfsburg.
"Lena Oberdorf."
"Really?" - You weren't big on media related stuff but now you were pretty exited.
Not a minute later she came in and sat down next to you.
"Hello, I'm Lena." - She extended her hand to greet you. You noticed she had such a thick accent.
"I'm Y/N."
"Okay, guys we're going to start with you two presenting yourselves to the camera."
"I go first?" - She only nodded approving it. - "Hello guys, I'm Y/N Y/L/N. I play for Barcelona Femeni and I am a left winger."
"And I am Lena Oberdorf. I play for Wolfsburg Frauen, I'm a midfielder."
"If you guys had to pick a top three players from the opponents team who would it be?"
"Definitely Popp, I'd also take Jule Brand and Sveindís."
"Not me?" - She said jokingly.
"Shoot sorry. I said it without thinking I swear! Can I redo it?"
"No! You can't redo it just cause you were called out!" - She said laughing. - "I'd take Mapi Leon, Patri and Graham Hansen."
"Ouch!" - you made a fake hurt face, laughing.
"Okay, can you guys tell me a few words you know in Spanish and the ones you know in German?" - The interviewer asked.
"I know the basics like Hola, Como estás, Adiós."
"I know Shiza!" - You said excitedly.
"I don't think you can cuss."
"What did she say?" - The interviewer ask as Lena proceeded to tell her. - "Well, we'll have to bleep that." - she said laughing - "Okay now I'm giving you two cards with words and you have to try and guess them."
"Okay. Y/N what do you think Angriff means?"
"Angriff? Like angry? Does it have to do with football?" - She nodded yes. - "Who's angry in football? Ona! Is it defender?"
"No. It's attack, you were kinda of so close."
"What do you Lena, think Banquillo means?"
"I'll try to use some logic to figure it out, like you. Something that starts with B, but it's not ball, ball is "balón" right? - You gave her no help - "Is it the bench?"
"I tried not helping and that was no use!" - You complained.
"See that's karma!" - She said laughing- "Alright what do you think Strafstoß?"
"NO! This isn't fair. German is so much harder than Spanish." - You tried to reason. - "Is it like guantes? Like the goalkeeper's gloves?"
"Why? No! It's a penalty." - You gasped, how were you supposed to guess? You couldn't even use common sense for that one.
"This game is unfair. What do you think beso means?"
"That was not on the card!" - Said the interviewer once again laughing at things you said.
"Ay, sorry I went freestyle.
Okay what do you think Aficíon means?"
And with the confused look on her face you were finally satisfied.
"I have absolutely no idea. Can I get a hint?"
"They scream a lot."
"Goalkeepers?!"
"No. They do scream a lot, but it's actually the fans."
"Okay guys! Last one."
"Already?" - Lena asked
"Yes so, it's ping pong questions. Ready?"
"Wait who asks the question?" - Obi asked
"You can go first and than you switch" - She pointed at Lena.
"Ready, one, two, three. Favorite number?"
"Eight!"
"Favorite food?"
"Pizza?!"
"Favorite goal?"
"The one I scored from outside the penalty box, against Real Madrid!"
"Place you want to visit?"
"South Africa!" - You finally breathe properly. "Why do I get to anxious for these? Every time. Okay ready?" - She nodded. - "Favorite number?"
"Mine! Six!"
"Favorite food?"
"Chicken pasta."
"Favorite goal?"
"Aah I don't know. The one I scored last game?!"
"Place you want to visit?"
"Your place"
"Oh my god you two are impossible!" - The interviewer let out, joking. - "This is what happens when you put two serial charmers in the same room." - "Please do an outro now."
"Bye guys! Hope you enjoyed the video!"
"And don't forget to watch our match!"
"Thank you guys, you really did so good!" - Said the interviewer, letting you two go.
"Bye, see you Saturday." - She said as she gave you a wink.
"Bye, nice to meet you." - You gave her a small smile.
Tumblr media
When Saturday arrived, you were all in your nerves.
Especially you, by now all your teammates had watched the interview. They were insufferable about it. Some shipping you two, some joking around, others couldn't believe how shameless you two were. I mean from your part they could. They literally had to deal 24/7 with your personality.
You guys were ready, as you entered the pitch. You did all the usual procedures and went head into the game.
At half-time your team went back to the locker room, losing 2-0.
When you were on your way into the tunnel, Lena caught up with you and gave your shoulder a soft squeeze. When you turned to her she gave you a comforting smile. Then continued to walk with her teammates.
Once half time was up, you made your way back, as you heard Patri joking.
"Y/N! Do something! Distract them with your charm! Seduce them in Spanish, I don't know." - And you were all laughing. It was much needed to easy out everybody.
The game was incredible. You guys had managed a come back. 3-2. When the whistle blowed for the last time, you ran to hug Patri and the others, cheering loudly.
But when you looked for Lena, you saw her sitting down with her hands covering her face.
You decided to ditch your friends for a little bit.
And offer her some comfort like she did to you.
"Oberdorf." - you said kneeling down next to her. - "Come here." - You said as you hugged her.
"Congratulations." - She said sadly as her voice cracked.
"You played brilliantly!" - You said as she nested her head on your shoulder.
"Not enough to win the trophy."
"Enough to win my number if you want." - and you got a soft laugh from her. - "It's not as cool as getting a trophy but maybe you can call me whenever you want to feel like a winner."
"Oh my god!" - She was full on laughing now. - "Have you seen the fans shipping us online?"
"Ah yes. They will feast on this photos of us."
"Can't wait to watch the edits." - You two proceeded to laugh while holding eachother.

Thin Line (Alexia x Reader)
Tumblr media
Request - ca. 10.3k words - Enemies to Lovers
The sound of the excited fans rings around the stadium and through the tunnel, in which both teams are currently starting to line up to walk out in a few minutes. The atmosphere is clearly good, but this comes to no surprise as it’s the UWCL semi-final with the match-up being Barcelona vs Wolfsburg.
After walking to your position in the line, you take a glance around the tunnel, when your eyes catch the ones of the Barcelona captain, who currently is on her own way to the front to lead her time out in a bit. As soon as Alexia notices that it’s you, she sends you a glare, which you return instantly before breaking eye contact as she walks past you.
The dislike towards one another started at the close semi-final match in the 2019/20 UWCL season. The close game back then had both teams on edge, so after giving a “light” shove to the Spaniard, to stop a counter-attack from Barcelona, you two got into a small argument with rather not so friendly words being exchanged. The fire was fueled even more after you managed to kick the ball into the net as the defense couldn’t get it out in time, securing Wolfsburg the win.
Plus, you might have run past the midfielder during your celebration on purpose and sent her a provocative smile as you walked back to your position to continue the game, wanting to annoy her as much as possible after the incident that occurred earlier in the game. And as it was time to shake hands after the game, you might even decided to put some more salt into the wound with a comment about how unfortunate it is that they couldn’t achieve more in this game.
So safe to say that the reaction from the Spanish midfielder comes to absolutely no surprise to you. You just hope that Wolfsburg can beat Barcelona once again, as you definitely don’t want to be the one to have to face any possible teasing this time.
Even though you know that you would kind of deserve it.
A tap on your shoulder breaks you out of your thoughts, turning around, you are faced with your teammate Lynn, “Are you planning on moving soon or should we just stay here?”, she teases you while pointing over your shoulder.
Confused, you turn back around, only to notice that the teams already started to walk out into the stadium. You quickly jog up to the line, trying your best to ignore the snickers of the left back behind you.
The moment you step outside into the almost completely full Camp Nou will for sure be forever engraved inside your head. It almost feels more like a dream than reality. The fact that so many people came to watch a women's game is an unbelievable feeling for you.
When it was time to shake hands with the referee and the Barcelona girls, Alexia made sure to once more send you a rather sharp look, which only fueled your need to win this game even more.
But already early on this plan seems not to go the way you would like, thanks to two early goals at the 3rd minute by Aitana which was only 7 minutes later followed by a goal from your ex-teammate Hansen.
Barcelona clearly owned the game, barely giving you and your teammates any chances of even getting close to their goal before they would get the ball back into their own possession. All you could do was try to close off as much space as you could, which also didn’t work as well, and before you knew it the half-time whistle blew with a score of 4-0 for Barcelona.
What annoyed you the most is that Alexia managed to score one of those goals.
The smirk and raised eyebrow she sent you as she walked back to her position after her goal made you angry and upset, this game was nowhere near how you wanted it to go, and you hate it.
To your luck, the second half starts much better.
Barcelona was still the more dominant team, but your team now managed to hold it much better together in your own half, thanks to a much-needed adjustment in the defense.
In the 69th minute, you manage to regain the ball back into your possession thanks to a miscommunication between Alexia and Jenni. You immediately start running up the field before you end up passing the ball to your teammate Jill, who sends the ball in the goal. The joy is short-lived though, as the referee blows the whistle when the sideline assistant holds up the offside flag.
You were ready to cry in frustration at this point, of course the one goal you manage to get in gets flagged off.
After quite a long VAR check, the goal gets allowed, the automatic line showing that Jill was just slightly onside after all.  But even then there was no time to celebrate, not when Barcelona is still in a comfortable three goal lead.
Which would turn into a four goals lead just 15 minutes later after Barcelona gets a penalty from Dom fouling Alexia inside the box. And of course, Alexia herself steps up to take the penalty to obviously put the ball into the back of the net effortlessly.
That would also be the last goal of the night as not long after the referee blows the whistle signaling that the game is over. And if you are honest, you are quite happy that the nightmare is finally over. All you want to do now is leave the game behind you and focus on the second leg, which would hopefully go much better for you and your team.
Even though you want nothing more than to get off this field already, you make your ways around to say some encouraging words to your teammates as well as shaking hands with the Barcelona players, purposely trying to avoid Alexia.
But to your luck, you do end up encountering the Spanish woman, even almost walking directly into her as your attention swayed over to where the Barcelona fans were celebrating the win for a moment.
When your attention turns to the Barcelona captain in front of you, you immediately notice the smug smile on her face. Deciding that you don’t want to deal with whatever she is going to say, you try to maneuver around her, not caring if the cameras might catch the failed encounter.
Alexia doesn’t seem to like your plan of escaping and ignoring her in the process, so as you try to move past her, she takes a hold of your upper arm to stop you from walking past her, “What, no handshake for me?”.
You try to keep your face as neutral as possible at her question, but the annoyed look she receives from you once you look at her lets her know exactly how you feel, making her smirk grow even bigger in satisfaction of getting to you.
Not wanting to cause a scene or have an argument interrupt between the two of you, you swallow the words you would like to say to her and instead force a smile on your face, which might look more like a pained grimace than an actual smile and free your arm out of her grasp to hold your hand out for the requested handshake.
The Spaniard raises her eyebrow at your silence as a challenge, before accepting your outstretched hand, repeating the very same words to you that you said to her just two years prior, “How unfortunate that you couldn't achieve more in this game, no?”.
It’s obvious that Alexia wants to get back at you by repeating your own words to you after the tough loss. And with your mood already at its deepest point it could be at right now, she certainly achieved her goal.
“Yea, really unfortunate.”, you scoff, retrieving your hand from the handshake, adding, “Just wait for the second game, you won’t have a chance.”.
As soon as you said the last word, you turned around and hurried into the tunnel, leaving Alexia behind you. The midfielder looks at you until you disappear out of her sight, the satisfied smile not leaving her face once.
___
The loss clearly bothered you a lot, of course all your teammates weren’t proud of the performance in the first game, but it was obvious that it hit you the hardest. So, the next few days, leading up to the second game, you spend doing almost the same things every day. Eating, training, analyzing the loss plus Barcelona’s play style in general and sleeping. Being prepared for the game was your number one priority.
You can’t give Alexia the satisfaction of winning against you back to back.
The team seems to feel the same way, not for the same reason as you but losing the second game at home was certainly not an option.
So here you are, just 8 days after the grueling game in Barcelona, ready to walk out of the tunnel onto the pitch of the Volkswagen Arena. To keep your concentration sorely on the game ahead, you make sure not to look around the tunnel to potentially catch the eyes of the person you so desperately want to see lose tonight.
Once it is time to walk out and the UWCL Hymne starts to play, you take a moment to look around the stadium, of course the attendance isn’t as big as it was in Barcelona but having around 22,000 people here to support you feels you with confidence, pride and the need to give your fans a good game and victory at the end.
As it was time to shake hands with the Barcelona players, you still made sure to not meet the eyes of Alexia. And if the captain was honest to herself, your complete disregard of her presence infuriates her for some reason. But it also fuels her even more to beat you once again.
Both Teams realize early on though that this game isn’t like the last one. Yes, Barcelona still holds more possession, but your team is awake and way more safe in the defense and able to create chances up front. So unlike the half-time score of 4-0 in the last game, it’s now 0-0, meaning everything can happen.
But this changes rather quick, just two minutes after the beginning of the second half, Wolfsburg gains a free kick which results into a mess in the defense to get the ball out so as soon as the ball lands in front of your feet you fire it towards the goal, most Barcelona players too distracted complaining about a possible foul or handball.
You get swarmed immediately by your teammates, while some Barcelona players run up to the referee. And as soon as the goal check was officially over and your goal counts, which you could see irritated Alexia a lot, you can feel some weight fall off your shoulder.
“Immer weiter!”, you yell out while clapping, wanting to keep the momentum up. (Keep going)
Which seems to work out great as just around 12 minutes later in the 59th minute when Jill successfully wins the ball into her possession to score another goal.
Unfortunately though this would be the last goal of the night, meaning Barcelona will advance into the final while you would just have to try again next year. But even though you and your team didn’t manage to advance, you still felt somewhat good. After all, you did manage to put an end to the winning streak of Barcelona and proved that Wolfsburg is still one of the best teams Europe has with that one win.
Just like every other game, you make your way around the field to handshake your teammates and opponents. Ironically though, this time Alexia is the one who seems rather hesitant to encounter you, but knowing with the huge spotlight she has on her that the cameras would notice if she wouldn’t go up to you, she makes her way over.
You stand with your back towards her, talking to Jill about her goal, when you feel someone poking your shoulder. Turning around, you are faced with Alexia, who offers no words but simply holds out her hand for you to shake, which you accept.
Alexia is confused by your silence, why haven’t you made fun of her losing, once again, to you?
“Just say it.”, she huffs out once the handshake is over.
“Say what?”, you say with a teasing smile, kind of enjoying her visible annoyance at your silence.
The Spaniard rolls her eyes at your teasing, “You know the whole how unfortunate you couldn’t achieve more.”.
“And for what? You are still the one going to Juventus.”, you reply with a shrug of your shoulders.
Alexia is confused, yeah you are right, but that's it? Not a single bad word from you about the performance tonight? Her thoughts are interrupted when Aitana calls out for her to come over to say thanks to the few fans that traveled to support their team tonight.
“Well, good game then?”, she offers, still confused by your behavior.
“Good game.”, you agree but once she starts to walk over to her team you can’t help yourself and yell out after her, “And good luck for the final, maybe you have a chance there to actually achieve some more, you know, something like a win maybe?.”.
The woman turns around at your words to send you a glare, almost feeling foolish for believing you wouldn’t say something like that after your words at the end of the last game. You in return send her a smile and thumbs up back, to which you can see her jaw clench in annoyance, before she turns around as Aitana calls out for her once again.
Slowly making your way over to your own team to take a walk around the stadium, you let out a laugh at her reaction, satisfied with getting to her once more.
___
21 days later, you find yourself with some of your Wolfsburg teammates in Juventus to watch the UWCL final. With Wolfsburg having only the DFB-Pokal final left in a few days, you decided to spend some time together before all your ways would part after the game, everyone going on different vacations before the euros would start.
You don’t know which team you would like to win more, instead hoping more for an exciting game of football from two amazing teams.
But you early on get flashbacks from your own final against Lyon back in the UWCL 19/20 season. Lyon managing to score three times in a span of 33 minutes certainly wasn’t on your bingo card. And even though Alexia managed to score one goal before the half-time whistle blows, you can’t help but feel like that this game is already decided.
That feeling would turn out to be true another 45 minutes later, as neither of the two teams scored any more goals, crowning Lyon once again the winner of the Women Champions League. Seeing the Barcelona players so sad makes you remember your own final once more, knowing exactly how painful it is to lose such an important game. As your eyes find Alexia lying on the floor crying, you slightly start to feel guilty. It was obvious under how much pressure the Spaniard was with all the sudden attention on her, and knowing that your words weren’t necessarily positive input on the immense amount of pressure she already felt makes you feel bad.
After the stadium calmed down a little and the ceremony was over, you all met up with Jill’s teammate Dan real quick to gratulate her and the team on the win before it was time to head back to the hotel, needing to get some sleep before the early flight the next day to get back to Wolfsburg, your own final not long away as well.
___
Just two months later, you are sitting in the Old Trafford Stadium, waiting for the opening game of the Euros 22 England - Austria to start. Unfortunately for you, you got yourself a small injury in the DFB-Pokal game against Potsdam from which you didn’t manage to fully recover before the Euros started, meaning you would have to sit out the tournament this year. But not wanting to sit back home in Wolfsburg the entire time, you decided to fly out to England anyway to watch as many games as you could.
Yesterday, the news came out that Alexia tore her ACL, ending her tournament before she even had the chance to start. You saw a lot of footballers sending her encouraging words and thought about doing it too, but the history between you two made you decide against it, since you were probably the last person she would want to hear from.
As the Euros went on, you went to whatever games were closest to you, with some exceptions where you would travel a bit further to watch the games of your Wolfsburg teammates to support them. It was during the Germany - Austria game where you first heard about the rumors about Barcelona looking to sign two new players, now that Alexia would be out for a few months, from a trusting social media source.
And with that, just two days later you receive a message from your Agent, informing you that you are one of the players Barcelona is interested in signing this summer and that Wolfsburg would be willing to let you go for the amount of money they offer for you. When you read that message you didn’t reply immediately, actually you didn’t reply at all, so the next day your Agent called you to talk about the offer. It’s not that you are not tempted to play for Barcelona, they are a powerful team and that they want you to join them fills you with pride, but the hate between you and Alexia fills you with doubt.
First you destroy her win streak, and you are once again snarky towards her, and then she gets injured, and you are one of the players that is supposed to help to fill the hole her injury left in the squad. You are aware that you couldn’t completely replace her and that’s not what you want anyway, just because there are some differences between the two of you, you can’t deny that she is the best in the world in her position. But the whole thing about you going to Barcelona to play instead of her could leave a bad impression on the woman.
You and your Agent agreed to her, telling Barcelona that you would still need some time to think about the offer. After all, it’s not just the situation between you and the Barça captain that bothers you but also the thought of leaving Wolfsburg. The team has become your family almost immediately after you joined them back in 2017, so saying goodbye to them would be everything but easy for you. A few hours later, your Agent lets you know that the team wants your answer by the end of the month, meaning that you only have exactly one week left to make your decision.
The next day you met up with Popp, wanting to get her advice on the situation, as she was one of the players you were always closest to in the Wolfsburg squad. She made it obvious that you leaving would be sad for everyone, but she understands the feeling of wanting a new challenge and that you should just follow your heart.
You thought the talk would help you to fully decide on whether you should accept it and start a new chapter or let everything stay the way it was, but that was easier said than done. So now on the deadline day for you to make a decision, you are sitting in the location where Germany celebrates their second place but while most of them are talking and dancing you are simply staring at the call button of your agent.
“Mach es.”, a voice next to you speaks up.  (Do it)
Turning to the voice you are met with Huth, one of your Wolfsburg captains, “Ich weiß nicht.”, you reply, still not sure if you really want to go.  (I don't know)
“Es ist okay etwas Neues auszuprobieren und ich glaube du wirst dich in Spanien gut einfinden können.”, she assures you. (It's okay to try something new and I'm sure you will fit in)
You don’t reply immediately, taking a moment to think about her words but also about the talk between you and Alex a week prior, “Okay.”, you breathe out.
Sveni sends you an encouraging smile before taking her leave to let you call your agent, who picks up rather quickly, clearly having waited on hearing from you, “I’ll do it.”.
___
After Barcelona received the ‘yes’ from you, everything happened rather quickly. The club helped you find an apartment and announced your signing almost immediately once all the paperwork between Wolfsburg and Barcelona was done. Quite a few of the Barcelona women reached out to you to congratulate you on the signing and how excited they are to play with you instead of against you now for the unseeable future. Especially your Ex-Wolfsburg teammates Ingrid, Rolfö and Caro were excited about your arrival to the Spanish club.
Alexia wasn’t one of them but you didn’t expect her to reach out to you, after all she just got one of the hardest injuries she could have gotten which she has to focus on coming back from and dealing emotionally with.
Since you were still coming back from your own injury, you first would join the team in training a few days before the first game of the season, meaning that you didn’t play in any of the club friendlies prior. For most of the training session you stuck close to your ex teammates from Wolfsburg, still a bit overwhelmed by the change after having played in Germany for the past 5 years.
Especially the change of weather hit you hard, yes Germany can also get quite warm during the summer nowadays too, but the Spanish heat certainly hits differently, so safe to say you were grateful when once again a small drink break was announced. You were chatting with Keira for a moment about the weather, the Brit also not having gotten really used to it by now, before Lucy pulled her away to get more to drink.
You are in the middle of chugging down a whole water bottle when a voice behind you speaks up, “You are doing great.”.
Putting your bottle down, you turn around and are met with Aitana, “Thank you.”, you reply with a small smile.
The small midfielder returns the smile, “You know, we were all quite excited to hear that you would join us.”.
You raise your eyebrow at her words, “Really?”.
Aitana nods her head in confirmation, “Yes, you were always one of the most unpleasant people to play against, so having you on our side now will help us a lot.”.
A chuckle leaves your lip at her words to describe you, “Well, I hope I can help.”.
“I’m sure you will, but now let’s get back to training, the break is over.”.
You can’t stop the groan from leaving your lips, quickly trying to get some more sips from your bottle before you would have to start running under the Spanish sun again.
Aitana simply laughs at your reaction, “Come on, you will get used to the weather soon.”.
“Mhm, sure.”, you mumble before joining her to walk back to the squad.
___
Your first appearance for the Catalonian club would still have to wait as the first game day has to be rescheduled due to the Referees going on a strike. But the week later it was finally time against UDG Tenerife in the Estadi Johan Cruyff. You were super excited about the game, you might not be in the starting XI, but you got informed that you will be subbed on at some point, which would officially start your new chapter with this club.
You even got on earlier than expected due to Patri having to get subbed off after receiving a head injury in the 11th minute. Surprisingly for you, you managed to fit in immediately, almost no sign of you just having transferred to the club as Keira, Vicky and you are doing a great job in the midfield. Even managing to score the first of the two goals of the game in the second half, so safe to say that your start almost couldn’t have been better than this.
After the game is also the first time you somewhat encounter Alexia since the semi-final game back in Wolfsburg again and this time not as her opponent but her teammate. The team is celebrating the win in the locker room, clearly excited about the great start into the season, when Alexia comes in, still on her crutches. While almost all of your new teammates go to greet the injured midfielder, you stay behind, unsure on how to approach the woman. You do meet her eyes for a moment, but the way she immediately divides her look to somewhere else in the room, lets you know that maybe it is not the right time yet to talk to her anyway.
But the first time you would actually talk to her follows up just two days later as you make your way to training and see Alexia struggling to open the door to get inside, making you quicken your step to jog up to the door to help her open it, “Here, let me help.”.
“Gracias.”, she mumbles, glancing at you before slowly making her way through the door with her crutches.
There is an awkward silence between you as you both walk down the same hallway, so you decide to speak up, “I’m sorry about your injury, but I'm sure you will come back even stronger.”, you try to encourage her.
The midfielder stops walking and turns to you, “Are you now?”, she asks, and you notice the upset tone in her voice.
“Of course, no one deserves an injury like that and-”, you start off but get interrupted by Alexia letting out an upset laugh, “You really think I’m going to believe a single word you are saying?”.
“I mean why would I-”, you try to defend yourself, but Alexia once again puts a stop to your words, “Why would you? I don’t know, maybe because you made fun of me every time I lost against you, then you celebrated with the Lyon players after the final, and now you come here to take my spot once I'm injured?”, she says, now clearly upset and distraught.
You take a step back from the woman, “I wasn’t, I’m not…”, you stutter out wanting to defend yourself, but the midfielder was still having none of it, “Just save it okay? I don’t want any of your alleged pity and-.”.
“Alexia!”, a voice a few doors down the corridor speaks up, interrupting the Spaniard in front of you this time.
As you both turn to the voice, you notice Irene standing there, she must have heard the upset and angry woman in front of you from the locker room, meaning that she probably also isn’t the only person that heard what just went down between the two of you.
Alexia mumbles some words in Spanish to herself before taking her leave, leaving you and Irene standing alone in the hallway.
You know that the situation between you and Alexia was tense but her accusing you of thinking that you are not sorry about her injury stings. Yeah, your words towards her certainly weren’t nice but wishing people an injury is something you would never do.
“Come on, let’s get changed.”, Irene’s voice breaks you out of your thoughts, walking towards her, you notice the team at the end of the hallway, already walking out to start training soon.
“Just give her some time.”, the defender says as she waits for you to get changed.
“I don’t know, maybe coming here wasn’t a good idea.”, you say with a sigh, clearly overthinking the decision to sign for the club.
Irene makes her way over to sit down next to you, “It was a good idea, you are a great player and a great addition to the club, Alexia still has some difficulties adjusting to the situation with her injury. Your signing may also put some impact on that, but I’m sure you two can get through that at some point.”, she reassures you.
“Alright, if you say so.”.
“I am, now let’s go out before we have to run extra laps around the field.”, she says, pulling you up from your seat to get you out where all the girls were already warming up.
___
The next few weeks you kept your distance from the injured woman, not wanting to risk another argument and of course to give her some time to deal with her own emotions with you now being at the club. But you knew that sooner or later you two would have to talk it out if the team climate wants to stay positive, so you decided to apologize to her the next time you would have the opportunity away from all the other girls.
Alexia was also aware that the situation between the two of you would have to get better at some point, which was made more clear during a conversation she had with Irene.
“You should give her a chance.”, Irene says to Alexia, who is looking out to the pitch where you and the other midfielders decided to do some extra training, wanting to make sure that Real Madrid will have the most difficult time to get past you all.
All Alexia offers is a distracted hum at the defender's words.
“I’m serious Alexia, I don’t know what went down between the two of you in detail, but she is our teammate now. And I’m not asking you two to become best friends, but to simply get along good enough to keep a healthy team climate.”.
Alexia lets out a sigh and turns away from the window and instead turns to face Irene, who is watching her intensely, “I know, I’m going to work on it, I promise.”.
Satisfied with the answer, Irene takes her leave to go out to where you and the others were still training to put a stop to it before you all would be too tired to actually play the game in two days.
Agreeing with her, you all make your way to the shower and get changed. Once you are done, you are ready to go home and eat some food but as you make your way down the hallway you are once more met with Alexia struggling to open the door, making you stop in your tracks. You are unsure on what to do, should you just wait for her to figure it out herself or help her but risk another rather unpleasant conversation?
You decide to go with the latter, maybe this would be a good opportunity for you to apologize to her in hopes to make things somewhat better between you two.
So with a deep breath you make your way towards her, “Here.”, you say while opening the door for her once again.
“Gracias.”, she says while walking through the door, you following close behind her.
“Do you uh, have a moment maybe?”, you ask her before she could get away towards where she would be driven home.
With the words of Irene still present in her mind, Alexia turns around to face you, nodding softly.
“Alright, so, I would like to apologize for how things went between us.”, you start off, “The way I behaved the times we played against each other wasn’t okay, but the emotions of the games always got the better of me and yeah.”, you stop to check the reaction of the woman in front of you but when you notice no sign of any emotions on her face you start to ramble “And I didn’t accept the offer to steal your spot or anything, I just saw it as a great way to start a new chapter and I truly do feel bad about your injury, there is no denying that you are one of the best players in the world and having you sit out sucks a lot.”.
Noticing that Alexia is still silent, you are about to jump head first into the second round of apologizing, but her speaking up puts a stop to that, “Okay.”.
“Okay?”, you ask her confused, when she doesn’t add any other words.
“I accept your apology, if you accept mine. I shouldn’t have blown up on you like that a few weeks ago.”, she offers.
“Oh no, no, you had every right. I know how weird it must have been when you heard I would join, that's also the reason why I hesitated for so long.”, you explain to her, but the single raise of her eyebrow lets you know that it’s not the answer she was looking for, so you quickly agree, “Okay, deal.”, adding, “So a fresh start now?”.
Alexia nods her head in agreement, “Si, fresh start.”.
You can’t stop the smile from forming on your face, “Great, so uhm I’m Y/N.”, you reintroduce yourself to her, holding your hand out for her to shake, wanting to make everything the proper way this time.
The woman in front of you looks at your outstretched hand before her eyes scan her own hands, which are occupied holding her crutches, so she can stand properly, following her eyes you quickly realize the issue, “Oh right.”, you start off, moving to put your hand down again when Alexia starts to shuffle her crutches into one of her hands, so she could accept yours, “Alexia.”.
“Nice to meet you.”, you say, starting to feel embarrassed after though once you realize that you might overdo the whole fresh start thing.
“Nice to meet you too.”, Alexia confirms when she realizes your slight embarrassment.
Sending her another smile, you notice a woman stepping out of the car from the corner of your eye, realizing that it’s Alexia’s sister Alba, you decide that it’s time to go home now.
You nod in the direction of her sister, “Alright, I let you leave now then.”.
Alexia looks towards where you were motioning to, agrees, “Si, good luck on Sunday.”.
“Gracias.”, you thank her before making your way to your own car to get home, happy for finally defusing the tense situation between you.
___
At first interactions between you were still awkward, like when Alexia complimented you on your performance in the last match against Madrid CFF, where you scored a goal and assisted one, you didn’t really know what to say. So you simply thanked her, which turned to you both smiling at each other rather awkwardly before she had to go.
But it got better as time went on, you two were now able to hold conversations without the awkward aura, sure you still weren’t close, but it’s far better from what you expected how things would go between you both from when you first joined the club.
One morning as you walk up to the stadium for training, you notice Alexia in the corner of your eye, but what surprises you the most is that the woman is walking without any crutches for support.
“Wow, am I dreaming or are you really walking by yourself?”, you speak up once she is in hearing range.
Alexia laughs at your reaction, “No, no, I really am walking by myself.”.
“That’s amazing, I’m happy for you.”, you tell her, truly happy to see the woman slowly coming back.
“Thank you.”, the Spanish woman says, smiling at you, as you hold the door open for her to go inside, “Excited about the first Champions League game of the season?”, she asks you as you two make your way through the training center.
“Of course, I’m ready to show everyone that we are one of the best teams in the world.”.
“That's what I like to hear.”, Alexia chuckles, changing to another topic before you two would have to split up, you to get ready for training and Alexia to get to the physio.
Two days later, you were in the starting XI for the first group game of the UWCL season. You had to admit that it felt kinda weird hearing the hymn play knowing you are about to play in the tournament for Barcelona instead for Wolfsburg, which you had done the last 5 years, but you were ready to give it your all and make the best from being on as starter.
And that’s clearly what you did, with scoring 2 goals yourself and assisting another 2 goals for your teammates, leaving Benfica absolutely no chance as the game ends in a clean 9-0 for Barcelona.
After thanking the fans for the support and celebrating the win with them, the celebration moved into the locker room, everyone obviously happy about the result from the first group game. But after another hour of talking and dancing, you find yourself growing tired, the 90 minutes of playing slowly catching up to you.
As you start to pack your things up and get ready to leave, you see Alexia sitting in the corner of the room, also looking slightly exhausted. Knowing that you two don’t live that far from each other, you decide to walk over to her to offer a ride home.
“You good?”, you ask her, standing in front of her.
Alexia raises her head as she hears your voice, slightly confused by your question, “Si, ¿Por qué?”. (why?)
“You look tired and haven’t really talked to anyone in the past 20 minutes.”, you state with a shrug of your shoulders.
“I guess that's because I am tired.”.
You let out a hum at her words, “Want a ride home then? I was going to leave now.”.
Alexia thinks about your offer for a moment before replying, “If you don’t mind?”.
“If I would, I wouldn't have offered, now let's go.”, Alexia rolls her eyes playfully at your words before saying goodbye to everyone, you doing the same.
As you two make your way towards your car, you hold open every door for the Spanish midfielder on the way, “You do know that I’m capable of opening doors just fine, now that my hands are free again, yes?”.
“I do know yes, but thanks for reminding me, but you know, I was kind of hoping for a thank you.”, you reply, waiting for her to get seated in your car, so you could close the door.
Alexia once again rolls her eyes at your words, but can’t stop the smile from forming on her face, “Thank you.”.
“No problem.”, closing the door, you make your way over to the driver's seat, ready to finally make your way home and get to bed.
You leave the parking lot in comfortable silence, that's it until Alexia speaks up, “You played really well tonight.”.
“Thank you.”.
“I’m glad you joined us, you are a great player and not as much of an ass as I previously thought you are.”, she admits jokingly, but you know that there is definitely some truth in those words, making you chuckle lightly.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to be honest.”, you admit, glancing over to her for a second before focussing back on the road.
“Oh really? I thought you would have jumped on immediately at the chance of stealing my spot.”, she jokes, making you actually full on laugh this time. Alexia waits for your laugh to fade out to ask, “What made the decision so difficult?”.
“Honestly? The whole drama between us played a huge role but also leaving Wolfsburg after 5 years sounded very scary.”, you confess to her, “I was scared to come here because I knew that with our history it would seem like I would come here to simply use your injury to my advantage to get to you in another bad way, you know. And the day you blew up on me in the hallway, where you had every right to question my motives, made me doubt that move even more, but the happier I am now that we can actually talk to one another now, without all the snarky and provocative comments.”. Alexia is surprised by how much the ‘hatred’ between you and her injury seemed to play a role in your decision, “I’m also glad that we managed to get over that, but I didn’t think that my injury would really play a big factor for you.”.
“Like you said, I’m not that bad of a person as I might have seemed like from the few interactions between us.”, you echoed, coming to a halt in front of the apartment building where the Spanish woman lives, “Here we are.”.
“Thank you for driving me.”, Alexia thanks you but makes no move to get out of your car yet.
“No problem.”.
The midfielder still makes no move to get out of your car, “Are you waiting for me to open the door for you or what?”, you joke, snapping her out of her thoughts.
“No.”, she chuckles, “But you think you could pick me up tomorrow on your way to training?”.
“Of course I can.”, you send her a reassuring smile.
Alexia nods, “See you tomorrow then?”.
“Yup, I'll text you when I’ll be here.”.
“Alright, goodnight then.”, she replies, standing now outside your car.
“Goodnight Alexia.”, and with another smile, Alexia closes the door and makes her way into the building, with you waiting until she is safely inside before you drive off to get home yourself.
It soon became a regular thing. You would pick her up in the morning when you had to go to training, and she was slowly working on her comeback, and at the end of each of your sessions you would drive off together. The car rides are always filled with interesting conversations and laughter, something you wouldn’t have dreamed of before your move to Barcelona.
What you also didn’t expect was how well all the games would be going so far, winning the El Clásico against Real Madrid, winning the first game against the toughest opponent in your UWCL group, Bayern. Safe to say, you are beyond happy with the team performance and the minutes you were getting on the field.
But every streak has come to an end sooner or later, which you learn during the away game against Bayern München in the Allianz Arena, Barcelona having to accept the 3-1 defeat. You were upset, you played so many games against them during your year in Wolfsburg that you feel like you should have been better at preparing your team for what was about to come. Besides the fact that you absolutely hate losing against them, they were your direct rival for years, after all.
“It’s not your fault, you know?”, Mapi speaks up, guessing that this is the reason as to why you’re so silent.
You sigh at her words, “I don’t know, I feel like I could have done more for us to be prepared.”.
“You did it great for the first game, it was obvious they are gonna do some changes now.”, she shrugs.
“I guess.”, you agree, not really convinced yet, but you dont want Mapi to sit here and try to console you while she obviously herself is upset about losing tonight's game.
Alexia could immediately tell that you were still upset about the defeat two days ago, the usual lively car ride now completely silent, no conversation, no laughter, the only sound to be heard is the car engine and Rosalía’s voice from the radio, which you would put on every time since you learned about the liking towards her music from the woman next to you.
“Meet you at your car after training?”, she asks you once it was time to part ways.
“Yup.”, you confirm before disappearing in the locker room.
A few hours later, Alexia was about to make her way to your car, when she notices someone still being outside on the field, all alone kicking the ball around made up obstacles. Upon noticing that it’s you, she makes her way outside, sitting down in one of the seats outside, deciding to give you some more time.
You are so focused on your own little training that you don’t notice the woman until almost half an hour past already. “Shit.”, you curse to yourself at forgetting that you were supposed to drive her home already, so you quickly pack everything up and make your way over to her, “I’m so sorry, I got a bit carried away but let me shower real quick, and then I take you home.”.
Alexia sends you a reassuring smile, “Don’t worry about it, take your time.”.
Despite her words, you do worry and have probably taken the quickest shower you could have before meeting her at your car.
The drive starts off the same as in the morning, that’s until Alexia decides that she has enough of the silence, “Are you hungry?”.
“Uhh, why?”, you question her, glancing at her for a moment.
“You weren’t in the cafeteria during lunchtime.”, she points out.
An embarrassed blush flushes your face, “I might have skipped it to train a bit more?”, you say sheepishly.
A small frown forms on Alexia’s face, the Champions League defeat might have hit you a little harder than she thought at first, “I know a small café not far from where I live, we could grab some food there? Unless you already found a different spot you would prefer.”, she offers.
If you were honest you would love to just go home and have some silence, but the empty feeling in your stomach seems to decide this one for you, “Sure and I honestly haven’t seen much of Barcelona yet to know any good places.”.
So a few minutes later you two were sitting in the café she suggested, enjoying some light food with the usual conversation taking place, the former silence now long gone. You were almost dreading it when it got to the point of you two paying and making your way outside, spending time with the injured midfielder definitely helped to take your mind off everything.
“Thank you for showing me this place.”, you thank her as you were about to make your way over to walk her home.
“We are not done yet.”.
You tilt your head in confusion at her words.
“You said you haven’t seen much yet, so we are going for a little tour around the area.”, she says, already walking some steps in the opposite direction from where you parked your car, waiting for you to come over to join her.
Alexia showed you all the nice places around the area, giving you as much information about everything as she could, that was until her knee started to feel a bit uncomfortable, so you decided to make your way back to her place.
“You know, you could easily become a tourist guide later.”, you joke as you arrive in front of the building, making the woman in front of you laugh.
“Oh yea, for sure, maybe you could become my assistant then.”, she plays along.
“I think for that, I would have to see a little bit more.”.
“You will, I’m going to show you every single little place this city has to offer.”.
“Can’t wait for that.”, you reply, a genuine smile on your face, besides playing football, the time you spent with the spanish woman was definitely one of your favorite things to do. Alexia feels the same, every time she was around you her mind stopped thinking about her injury. Of course the Ballon d’Or winner already accepted her injury but sometimes there were moments where the insecurities came over but being with you for some reason always manages to put even those to rest.
And with that a new regular was formed between the two of you, whenever you both were free after work and rehab, you would go grab some lunch and afterwards Alexia showed you around the city for as long as she could, making sure you would see all the places tourists often like to oversee.
During all those moments, you two started to grow a slight crush on one another, not that the other would know, but the lingering stares when the other wouldn’t notice started to become obvious to some of your teammates.
“You think they have something going on?”, Mapi asks her girlfriend with a slight smirk on her face.
“Who?”, Ingrid questions the defender, confused on who she was referring to.
“Alexia and Y/N!”, she points out if it was the most obvious thing.
Ingrid takes a moment to think about her girlfriend's words, she did notice about you two having grown a little bit closer to one another, and she did catch Alexia staring at you maybe once or twice when she was watching the training.
“Maybe.”, she shrugs, she did think that there could be something sooner or later but she knows how noisy Mapi would get once her suspicions would be confirmed.
“¿Quizás?”. the defender asks, “There is one hundred percent something!”. (maybe?)
“Like I said, maybe.”, Ingrid repeats, Mapi simply lets out a huff before walking away to her fellow defenders, deciding that it seems like that she has no choice but to question Alexia about it herself.
And that’s what she does a few weeks later at the small christmas party after the champions league group game against FC Rosengård, where the team decided to spend the evening together before everyone would leave for christmas and new years eve.
“You are staring.”, Mapi approaches her best friend with a big grin on her face.
“I’m looking around the room.”, is all Alexia says, only spending her friend a small glance.
Mapi her smile only grows, “The room is a bit bigger than just Y/N though.”
Alexia lets out a sigh, she knows María long enough now to know that the defender won’t stop bugging her until she receives the answers she wants to have, “What do you want?”.
“Is there something going on between you two?”, the defender wastes no time to get to the point.
“No.”.
“Do you want to?”.
Silence.
“Aha!.”, Mapi says slighter louder than intended, making people turn their heads towards them, “Lo siento.”, she mutters, waiting for them to get back to their own things, “I knew it! You should ask her out, like right now!.”.
The midfielder rolls her eyes at her friend's antics, “No.”.
“¿Por qué no?”. (why not)
“Because I don’t want to embarrass myself when she doesn’t feel the same and did you forget about the whole thing where we hated each other?”, Alexia points out with a sigh, not really in the mood to talk about her feelings.
“But she does feel the same! And haven’t you heard of the quote ‘It’s a thin line between love and hate’?”.
“Mapi no.”, is all Alexia says, making it pretty clear that the conversation is done as she starts to walk away from her teammate.
“But you know I’m right.”, Mapi yells after her, once again turning the attention in the room towards her. Even though she didn’t achieve her goal she was still happy that her guess was correct, so she could annoy Ingrid later for being in the right.
But unbeknownst to her, Ingrid tried to get some information about the possible feelings between Alexia and you out of you as well, but obviously not in the same annoying way her girlfriend did.
“I don’t know, it’s complicated.”, you shrug, “I don’t want to risk destroying what we have built so far, you know?”.
Your fellow midfielder lets out a hum at your words, understanding your fear, “I understand, but from what I noticed so far, the feelings seem to be shared.”.
“Maybe, but I think I'll just leave it at that for now.”.
“That’s fine but if you ever wanna talk about it, you know where to find me right?”.
“Of course, thank you Ingrid.”, you smile at her.
___ There wasn’t a day where you and Alexia didn’t talk to each other during the almost two weeks apart, whether it's been some messages simply wishing the other a good day or calling for at least an hour, you two always stayed in contact. Alexia was glad about that, because if she was honest, she slightly missed seeing you almost everyday which made her rethink the conversations she had with Mapi almost everyday. Maybe she should ask you out, but what if you reject her and the whole friendship falls apart?
Eli and Alba took notice of the change in behavior from the footballer, they noticed how happy the woman always is whenever she told them about what you two did every other day, also did they notice how excited Alexia always got whenever she received a message from you. When they asked her about it, Alexia tried to play it cool, that you two are just friends and nothing more but they know her well enough to see the doubt and hesitation right through her mask.
You weren’t much better, you also missed the Spanish women, your feelings only growing stronger during the two weeks you were separated, leading to a much longer than necessarily hug between the two of you the morning you picked her again after the break.
During the first game of the year against Sevilla FC, Alexia's eyes almost stayed the entire time on you, “You should ask her out.”.
Alexia turns her attention to her mother, but before she can reply, loud cheers erupt in the stadium, turning to look back at the field she sees your teammates swarming you, meaning that you must have just scored the third goal of the match. As you walk back to your position, you look up in the stands sending Alexia a wave and a thumbs up with a bright smile on your face which the injured woman immediately returns, “Maybe I should.”, she agrees quietly.
After the celebrations of the game are done Alexia and you find yourself in your car again, just arriving at her apartment she decides that it’s now or never, “I was thinking.”, the spanish woman starts.
“Yes?”.
“Maybe instead of grabbing lunch tomorrow we could go out for dinner instead?”.
“Sure, why not.”, you reply with a shrug, confused on why she was so hesitant about it.
Alexia blushes as she realizes that you haven’t gotten the real meaning behind her request, “I kinda mean as a date?”.
Now you also start to blush, feeling kinda stupid for not catching what she meant, realizing that the midfielder in front of you is still waiting for a reply, you quickly snap out of your thoughts, “I would love to.”.
“Really?”, Alexia asks almost in disbelief of you really wanting to go on a date with her.
“Yes.”, you chuckle.
The both of you just look at each other for a moment with hugh smiles and blushes on your faces, before a car horn behind you destroys the moment, “I text you the details then?”, Alexia wonders while stepping out of your car.
“Sounds good.”, you agree before you two say your goodbyes, the smile not leaving either of your faces for the rest of the evening.
The next day you were stressed, but Ingrid was your savior, you were nearly at the point of having a breakdown on what you should wear when the norwegian came over to help you.
“You look great.”, she says once you come out of your bedroom, having put on the clothes she suggested.
“Are you sure? Maybe I should try the ot-”.
“No.”.
“No?”.
Ingrid gets up from your couch, making her way over to you, “You look amazing, Alexia is going to love it okay? You need to calm down a little.”.
“Yeah, okay okay.”, you say, taking a deep breath in hope to calm down.
Alexia wasn’t much better, the woman also overthinking every little thing, while her sister makes fun of her, “Are you going on a date or are you about to get married? I have never seen you being this nervous for a date.”.
“It has to be perfect Alba.”, she says to her younger sister, clearly not finding any of her words funny.
“Come on, I was just trying to lighten things up a bit.”.
Eli comes in to interrupt Alba as she was once again going to speak up, scolding her “Alba leave your sister alone.”.
“Te ves hermosa.”, she tells Alexia, helping her with adjusting her dress. (you look beautiful)
“Gracias mamá.”.
One hour later you are standing in front of the restaurant where Alexia booked a reservation for the two of you. You were nervously rocking back and forth waiting for Alexia to arrive, which she does just a few minutes later.
A bright blush covers both your faces once you make eye contact, “You look beautiful.”, you compliment her, the nervousness clearly audible in your voice.
“Gracias.”, she whispers, “You also look amazing.”.
“Thank you.”.
Once you made your way inside to the restaurant and the nerves settled a little everything went smoothly, you two talked, joked and laughed for hours. Not wanting the night to end, you two decided to take the long walk to get back to your cars.
“Thank you for tonight.”, the catalonian says as you near the parking lot.
“Thank you for asking me out.”.
A moment of silence follows after that, you two just standing in front of each other, gazing into each other's eyes, slowly shuffling closer and closer.
“Can I kiss you?”.
You nod your head slightly, “Yes.”.
With your consent, she immediately places her lips on yours, her hands reaching out to your hips to pull you closer while you drape your arms over her shoulders. After air becomes an issue, you two slowly pull apart, big smiles on both your faces.
___
A lot of dates followed after this one, but your relationship actually wouldn’t become official until after the Supercopa game against Real Madrid. Having played almost the entire 120 minutes you were clearly exhausted, the happier you were that you and Alexia decided for a calm evening, simply cuddling while watching a movie in her apartment.
You were just about to start the second movie of the evening when Alexia speaks up with a nervous voice, “Do you want to be my girlfriend?”.
Pulling a bit away from your position so you could look her in the face, you are met with the cute sight of a clearly nervous Alexia, “I would love to be your girlfriend.”, you say with a soft smile.
The relieved expression on your now girlfriend's face makes you chuckle, “You really thought I would say no?”.
Alexia quickly pulls you into her so you wouldn’t see the blush forming on her face, “I just didn’t want to assume things.”, she mumbles in your neck.
Breaking out of her grasp, you place a small peck on her cheek, before pressing a light kiss on her lips, “You are cute.”.
You two were almost inseparable after this evening, side by side whenever you could be with lingering touches and if you couldn’t directly touch each other, lingering looks were shared. Barely a day and night spent away from each other.
“It’s crazy to think that you two hated each other once, I still remember the way Alexia was cursing your name after the two losses against Wolfsburg back then.”, Aitana says during a team bonding night a few weeks later, nodding to Alexia and you while you were comfortably cuddling on the couch, waiting for the food to arrive.
You chuckle at her words, just about to reply when Alexia beats you to it, “You know what they say, it’s a thin line between love and hate.”, she shrugs.
“Love?”, you question, leaning a bit back to look at her.
“Mhm, I love you.”, she admits while looking you in the eyes, not caring about the others in the room.
The intensity of her stare makes you blush, “I love you too.”, you say, hiding back in her arms as your teammates around you start to ‘Aww’ at the confession that just took place between you.
But Alexia’s eyes are still sorely on you, not noticing the way your teammates were still staring at the both of you or the way Mapi tried to rip Ingrid's hand off her mouth, to ruin the moment by commenting about Alexia repeating the words she told her just a few months ago, all on her mind is how happy she is that you two crossed that Thin Line.

I love it and I hate at the same time | Lena Oberdorf
Tumblr media
Lena Oberdorf x german!barça!reader
Summary: After the events if the euros, you transfered to Barcelona and leaving with that your girlfriend, Lena, behind. But you still worked out together and were each others biggest fan in the Champions League, to blind in your bubble that you two didn't realised that one has to destroy the others biggest dream.
English is not my first language
Masterlist
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
You hated it. This was not how you wished the season ends. You didn't wish for an Barcelona vs Wolfsburg final. First it's your former club you learned to love and you're still friends with your old teammates. But second because you had to play against your girlfriend. You two always talked about your dream of winning the Champions League. And now one of you had to destroy the others dream.
It's the first time you start to regret your move to Barcelona. Right after the euros you got an offer from Barcelona. Claiming they were impressed of your play style in the euros, even if you lost to England. You were, next to Lena, one of the most talented midfielder. Even trought your lost they still wanted you and you wanted to go to them, but Wolfsburg became your family you didn't wanted to leave. But they were all supportive and advocated you to the move. They all knew about your dreaming of Barcelona, just like Jill does and you finally had the chance to make your childhood dream reality. And Lena knew about your dream too. So she let you go and told you to go. But she didn't fully let go. You two were still in a realationship and went to all the Champions League or important games of the respective other, if you had the time. So basicly nothing change between you, exept the fact that you didn't see each other every day. You celebrated the cup win against Freiburg, like your still part of the team. It was the time you knew you gonna meet them and after the lost League to Bayern Munich, they wanted now notjing more but winning. For you, you live with Obi still in deniel. In your little bubble that no one can destroy. In your little bubble that got destroyed as soon as you landed in Eindhoven.
Of course you talked about before. You said whatever happens it will not effect your relationship. You also brought the rule to live, that you both will neither see each other nor communicate with anything. You needed this rule to be focused.
The first time you see each othet again was in the tunnel. You stood next to each other.
"Viel Glück" Good luck whispered Lena and smiled at you.
"Dir auch viel Glück" Good luck to you too You whispered and smiled at her too.
You felt a soft touch on your shoulder. You didn't need to look around to know it was Lucy Bronze. She looked at the both of you with pity. She couldn't imagine being in the same situation with Keira. She knew about your relationship with the german, since you became friends in this past year. She took you under her wing, since your one of the youger ones with 21 and didn't know any spanish too even english was a bit tought for you.
"Alright, take a deep breath" You did. Lucy put both her hands on your two shoulders. "And now I want you to focus on the game, 'kay. Don't look at her. Do not look once in her direction exept you need to, alright?" You just nooded unsure. You hated this feeling. In the end of the day you wanted to celebrate together with your girlfriend.
Everything went down in the first 3 minutes. Trought a mistake of Lucy Bronze your former teammate Pajor score the first goal. Everyone on the pitch was shooked. Mostly the Barça players. No one thought about this early goal. And god you wished you could celebrate with them. Your eyes made their were to the cheering Wolfsburg players. Just as Obi was about to met your eyes Lucy pushed you quickly away.
"Hell na. I told don't look at her, exept you need to steal the Ball from her." She looked directly into your eyes waiting for encouragement. "Come on" She said and put her arm around your shoulders.
This goal boosted Wolfsburg. They were stoping every attack Barcelona was about to make. And to all this chaos, Alex Popp shot an amazing header and shot the second goal for Wolfsburg. And again everyone came to celebrate, but this time you didn't look at them. You just walked away. But Lena looked out for and as she found you walking away she felt bad. She to celebrate with you and you being sad and walking away.
With that the whistle blow. And you walked in the lockerroom frusterated, like every other player. It wasn't like you were dead. You had chances over chances but nothing worked out. So it the end, what happens in the lockerroom stays in the lockerroom.
Back on the pitch it looked like Wolfsburg was to confident of winning that Patri shot to beautiful goals in first 5 minutes and brought your team back in the game. With that Wolfsburg was now shocked and Barcelona the way better team.
After an amazing long ball of you from Mapi you were about to pass the ball into the box. But you got stopped by your girlfriend with a rather nasty tackle. It made you fell down, but the referee didn't care and let the game go on. But Lena quickly rushed back to you.
"Scheiße, Y/n. Alles gut?" Shit, Y/n. Everything's okay?
"Yeah all fine" You said and walked away very quick.
Lena just looked after you and sighed, but also doing the same.
A few minutes later the third and winning goal for Barcelona got shot from you. You ran to the players, who were doing the warm up, and were meeting with Alexia Putellas. And then your other teammates come to hug and celebrate you. You didn't even know why you were cherring. You hate it when players celebrate hard against their own club. You even criticized Jill last year and now your doing the same.
As the game went on you could feel that your former teammates are trying everything to score a goal. It was stoppage time when you looked at Lena for the first time. Poppy laid again on the ground holding her face in her hands. You kneeled beside her. She was one of the closet person back in Wolfsburg and put you under her wing like Lucy is doing in Barcelona. You felt sorry for this woman. She's fighting so hard and still always lays on the ground. At first you didn't noticed that also Obi kneeled also down to her teammates. You only noticed as you looked up and found Lena already looking at you. She sent you a soft smile wich you returned.
This corner was Wolfsburg last chance, but Paños saved the ball. And with the final whistle blow the game ended and Barcelona won for the second time the Champions League. Driven by joy and adrenaline you let Mapi to drag you to the big group hug.
Lena watched you. She watched you smilling and laughing. She was happy for you, she really was but the sadness won over and the tears starting to roll down. She looked around for her teammates and saw Felicitas Rauch breaking down. Overwhelmed with her feelings Lena let the tears a free go.
After the end of your group hug you were the first to pull away, searching for only one person, Lena Oberdorf. And you found her looking around the stadium with tears in her eyes. A few meters further you saw your friend Feli breaking down crying.
Now you also felt overwhelmed and you do the only thing that helps you, when you feel this way: hugging Lena. Her embrace always calmed you down. So you ignored Prati yelling to join in and ran up to your girlfriend. Wich didn't noticed that you are running up to her and suprised, when she felt your arms around your body. She let out a quick jelp, what the attention of Alex Popp and Svenja Huth focus. Both of them admiring and giving each other a short glance, before minding their own buisness.
This interaction nnoticed also Lucy, when she was looking for you. Smiling at the both of you. It was a well needed hug you both were dreaming of. A hug with a lots of sorrys from your side. Sorrys that Lena couldn't register.
"You should go back celebrating." Lena sniffed as you both pull away from the hug. "And stop saying sorry. You have nothing to be sorry about." She put her hands on your cheeks. "Looks like the better team won. Maybe next year for me, but congratulations! I'm so proud of you." She kisses your forehead.
"But what about you? I destroyed your dream."
"Yeah and I'm that you are the one not Arsenal or any other club. And next Wolfsburg is going to win." She smiled sadly. "Now go and celebrate with your teammates." She pushed you away. You give her unsere look before running up to Lucy and Keira.
It was time to celebrate with the trophy and your high began to raise again as Alexia starts raised the trophy to the sky and made her team with that champions of europe.
The next hour was all a blur for you. Dancing, screaming, yelling, taking pictures and going to interviews. Singing 'Sweet Caroline' with Keira. It all was fun but you missed your girlfriend.
When you were looking for her, you found her by her family. So you ran up to them and greeted them. They told you how proud they were of you. Since Lena brought you home, they adored you and you became their second daughter.
When you were alone on the pitch, you finally had a moment to breath. You both watched some of your teammates still celebrating.
"Come to Barcelona." You said, wich made Lena look at you. "I hate not being around you. I hate not celebrating goals with you. And the most I hate is that days like this could be happen again and I gotta say I hate and love this day so much." You said not looking at Lena once.
"We see, baby. We see." Is the only thing the midfielder said, before she put her head on your shoulder.

Labor Omnia Vincit (Alexia Putellas x reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: 5 months later and i finally wrote a part 2 to New Team Mate. I am really proud of this one and i can’t believe i managed to write 8,341 words. I hope you guys enjoy it! Feel free to let me know what you think.
Part 1 - New Team Mate
The team had just finished a late night training session when Patri suggested that they use one of the media rooms to watch Chelsea vs Lyon as the winner would face Barcelona in the Champions league final.
Everyone seemed to be in agreement, stay and watch the game. You on the other hand had no intention of watching the game. Ever since Barcelona beat Wolfsburg in their semi final the pressure on you seemed to grow tenfold.
“I’m calling it a night. After that session, my bed is calling me” you tell the team, all but one of them believing you.
“You don’t want to find out who we have in the final?” Leila asks.
“I already know how this game ends” you reply confidently but with a sad tone in your voice.
After packing up your belongings you are almost out of the door when you feel someone grab your hand.
“Everything ok” Alexia asks as she pulls you closer to her.
You look into her hazel eyes and you can tell that she knows something if wrong. You drop your facade, letting her see how you are truly feeling unlike how you were with the team mere moments ago.
“Of course. I’ll call you later, ok?” Your hurry to end the conversation and leave the facility doesn’t go unnoticed by the Catalonian.
Alexia eyes you as she contemplates pushing you further. You recognise the internal battle as you watch her eye brows furrow.
“Promise?”
You roll your eyes at her question as you told her once that you never break your promises. Knowing this you can’t bring yourself to lie so instead you hope to distract her, even if only for a minute. You grab her chin as you lean down giving her a quick kiss before leaving.
Alexia is still stunned by the affect you have on her. A week after the El Classico, alexia asked you out on a date where she took you to a restaurant by the sea. At the end of the night she walked you home and before bidding you farewell she asked if you be want to be her girlfriend, it was the easiest question you have ever answered. The two of you were only able to keep your relationship a secret until the team celebrated New Year in Madrid and as the clock struck midnight they soon figured out that you and Alexia were no longer enemies and are a lot more than friends.
Hours pass and Alexia still hasn’t heard from you. It is around 11pm when worry creeps in. She knew that someone was off with you at the training ground but she didn’t want to push. If she has learnt anything over the last couple of months it is that you would open up when you are ready. Her patience soon runs out and she calls you, your phone going straight to voicemail meaning that you had turned it off. There was one way to find out if she should be worried but it felt wrong, still Alexia found herself typing your name in twitter. That is when she sees multiple reports discussing the upcoming final.
Y/N Y/L/N homecoming, guaranteed to end in heartbreak.
Y/N vs Lyon
Y/N, the traitor, returns to Lyon. Will she show them what she is made of or will Lyon show Y/N that they never needed her?
Realising that if she has seen these then you will have too and knowing you like she does, you will have most likely read a lot more.
“What do you say Nala, shall we go get her? Let’s go get Y/N?”
The small furball barks upon hearing your name. Your late night walks with the small dog and her owner has become a regular occurrence, the empty streets allowing you and alexia to be just that, people not players.
You pause the Lyon game when you hear a knock at your door. You would love to say you are intrigued but you know who is on the other side, if anything you are surprised that she hasn’t turned up sooner.
Opening the door you are met with your favourite person and her furry companion. You bend down stroking Nala before standing, alexia soon kisses you once you are back at her level.
“I thought you said you didn’t want to watch the game?” Alexia asks as she takes a seat on your sofa.
You let out a small chuckle when you notice how easy it is for Alexia to make herself at home. You get another beer out of your fridge when you see that Alexia is taking a sip from your newly opened bottle.
“I said I knew how it ended. They played really good” you tell her.
“Second time?” Alexia asks.
“Third. Only certain plays this time though” you laugh trying to lighten the mood but you can tell by the look on Alexia’s face that she is worried.
“Let me guess, you googled me” you know your girlfriend well.
“Twitter can be a blessing and a curse” Alexia responds.
“I knew it would happen. All part of the job. You’ll find out how hard the media can be in the next year or two”
Even though Alexia was well on her way to being one of the best players in the world, the media still didn’t pay that much attention to her and the spotlight never stayed on her. You wish it could stay this way, the pressure and attention you got could be too much to handle at times and you wanted to shield Alexia from that in any way you can.
“I hope not. I hate those kind of things” Alexia confesses though it doesn’t come as a surprise, she tends to get shy when the camera is on her.
You and Alexia sit and watch the football until the halfway mark then she suggests that you take Nala for a walk and you happily agree.
The beach soon became one of your favourite places when you moved to Barcelona, it always calmed you down. This is something that Alexia knew so it comes to no surprise when you end up at the beach closest to your apartment. Alexia sits on the sand, patting the place next to her encouraging you to sit down too.
“Do you want to tell me what is really going on?” Alexia asks you.
You let out a deep sigh before resting your head on her shoulder as you look out at the sea. A warm feeling grows within you as Alexia’s hand rests on your thigh, rubbing it in a soothing motion.
“I wanted to avoid it. I know it was naive of me but I didn’t want to play them” you feel like an Anvil weight is lifted off your chest as you make the confession.
“Because you think we will lose?” Alexia asks fearing that you don’t have faith in her or the team.
“No. They are my family Alexia, more so than my own blood. I’ve spent Christmas’ with Ada in Norway and even spent one with Wendie. Us winning means they lose and I would be responsible for that. Don’t get me wrong, I want to win, I really do more than you can imagine but the cost of it” you pause as you take a breath “it is a lot to bare you know”
Alexia didn’t know where to start. She knew that with each champions league game played and won, your anxiety rose.
“I don’t know what’s it’s like, Barca is all I have ever known but for what it’s worth I will be by your side for all of it. I know going back to Lyon will be tough but you won’t have to do it alone”
You eyes widen at the realisation, how could you have forgotten. In a sick turn of events, the final would be held at Groupama stadium, Lyon’s home ground, well the mens that is. You had dreamt of playing there your entire career and now you would but for the opposing team.
“Lyon really is beautiful, you’ll like it” you don’t try to cover up the subject change and Alexia doesn’t question it.
“Well if we have a morning or evening off, you could show me around”
“I don’t think I will have much time off. My manager has already sent me some of my schedule, turns out plenty of people want to hear what I think about the movie worthy final match up” you joke.
It was like a movie. Barcelona lost to Lyon last time they met and now they want revenge, the underdog story. You on the other hand, the protagonist leaves her home, the only place she has ever known and joins a rival in hopes of helping them achieve their dreams. Will the movie have a happy ending, you really did hope so.
You and alexia talk for an hour or so before you notice the time and decide to call it a night or more like an early morning. Alexia and Nala stay the night at yours, Nala goes straight to the dog bed you bought a couple of weeks ago for moments like this one. Alexia went straight to your night draw, getting one of your oversized t-shirts. The two of you lay in bed that night, both of you worried more than you would let on but as you lay in each other arms the doubt settles down and comfort replaces it.
*************
A few weeks later the team travel to Lyon. Alexia insists that she sit near you on the plane. As the pilot told her staff to prepare for landing, Alexia held your hand giving it a quick squeeze, her eyes already on you on as you face her. You give her a quick wink before looking out of the window.
The players are in shock as they arrive at the hotel. The fans were out in full force as they show their support. What surprises you the most is the amount of fans that are there for you, a mixture of Lyon and Barcelona shirts with your name on.
“Quite the homecoming” Alexia whispers in your ear, the two of you being the last ones off the bus.
It was overwhelming to say the least.
“Go ahead, I will be out in a minute. Just want to double check I have everything” You ask as your heart rate increases, every breathe feeling heavier than the last.
Concern floods her eyes but with a simple nod of your head she leaves you as you gather your thoughts.
You hear the fans scream as their #11 greets them.
Once off the bus, the volume of the crowd doubled and you know it is because of the Lyon supporters. You feel your throat close as you try you best to meet all of them, signing their shirts, taking selfies and thanking them for their endless support.
It is late by the time everyone unpacks, the majority of the team opting to have a night in their rooms. Others, including you and alexia, choose to have a meal in the hotel restaurant.
Throughout the meal you remain quiet, only speaking when spoken to. As soon as you finish eating you excuse yourself as you had media the morning before the team went for their Matchday - 1 training. Nerves flooded your body at the thought of facing the French press, with it been the first time since you left Lyon and you wouldn’t have any of your team mates with you for support.
Alexia watches you cautiously as you leave the restaurant.
“What wrong with Y/N?” Jenni asks.
The whole team seems to have the same question as the turn their attention to Alexia.
“According to her, nothing” Alexia says slightly disappointed that you have closed yourself off from her.
“We have training tomorrow, that will cheer her up” Patri’s tone is innocent as she fails to register what your behaviour means.
By the time Alexia gets back to your room you are in bed facing away from the door. She knows you aren’t sleeping and you know she knows.
“I want you to know that you can talk to me” Alexia says as she places a gentle kiss on your shoulder.
You turn around feeling the sweet gesture from your girlfriend.
“I know. This is just something I have to deal with myself. I want you to enjoy your time here, not worry about me”
“I’ll enjoy it more because I am with you”
Alexia could be sweet when she wanted to be. It is in moments like this that you think about how far you and her have come from that first day when she blanked you or the bust ups in the locker room.
*************
The next morning you do a couple of interviews in the hotel’s media room before joining the rest of the team for breakfast. You notice a seat free next to Alexia, a sentiment that become a regular occurrence. Throughout the season, the team learnt that the seat was reserved for you, should they decide to sit in then they would get the death stare from Alexia.
“Have you seen the amount of people that are outside? Most of them are wearing Y/N’s Lyon shirt. I thought they might be a little hurt by her move but they still love her here” Bruna tells the rest of the table.
You take your seat just as the young forward finishes her sentence, Alexia reaches for your hand under the table, hidden PDA had become your forte. Bruna sends you an apologetic look but you wave her off, she only said what you were thinking.
“I never thought that” Vicky says earning a few looks of disbelief from her friends “It’s like if Alexia left Barca. The fans would welcome her back with open arms”
“I would never turn my back on Barca. They took a risk on me, invested in me and made me the player I am. I would never betray them like that, I’m too loyal”
Alexia words cut deep like a million cuts. Is this what she thought of you? Is it what the team thought of you?
You pull your hand away from Alexia’s, placing her hand back in her lap before walking away.
“Y/N, where are you going?” Alexia says not realising the impact her words had on you.
She stands, on the verge of going after you when Vicky reaches out.
“Let me go”
Alexia doesn’t have the chance to argue as Vicky is already out of the door.
“You can be so stupid sometimes. Now sit there and think about what you just said” Jenni jokingly scolds her best friend.
An hour later and the team are ready to leave the stadium. Alexia went back to your room but you weren’t there, she is ready to send out a search party when she sees you sitting in the reception talking with the Vicky.
The team takes their seats on the bus then you and Alexia are informed that you will both attend the pre-match press conference before the training session.
“About earlier….I didn’t mean you—“
“Forget it Alexia, you only said what everything else is thinking. Now let’s get this press conference over with so I can kick your ass at rondos” you try to change the subject.
The team arrive at Groupama stadium, you and Alexia go straight to the conference room whilst the other players watch on from the locker room.
Butterflies fill your stomach but the questions you are asked aren't as bad as you though they were going to be, you would go so far as to say you are having fun but that soon changes when the last journalist stands to ask his question.
“Ay dios mio” Irene says as she moves closer to the tv.
“What? What is it?” Mapi asks, her panic rising when she sees the expression on the other centre back’s face.
“That’s Marcus Vernier”
Anger consumes you as you are face to face with the man who made you leave behind the life and club you loved. Your hands curl into fists under the table, only relaxing when Alexia reaches over and hold them, gently stroking the back of your hand. She recognises him straight away and she wished that she could end the press conference there and then knowing that it isn’t going to end well.
“My question is for Y/N Y/LN” he says, his signature smirk plastered on his face.
Alexia pulls her hands away, now it was your turn to calm her town. Your attempt comes in the form of your hand resting on her thigh.
“What media outlet stooped low enough to hire him?” Alexia says under her breath.
“Let me handle this” you plead, hoping she will not say or do something that she will regret.
You turn your attention to him, you nod your head and he asks his question.
“You won the Balon d’or with Lyon”
You really hoped he would ask a question then you could leave but you soon realise that he has an ulterior motive.
“Yes, she did now if that is all we have to get to training” Alexia stands but you pull her back down.
“I was talking to Y/N” Marcus says knowing full well that he is getting under the Catalonian’s skin.
“You said you had a question, ask it. Like Alexia said we are running late to our training session” you try to stay as professional as possible knowing that this interaction will be all over the internet by the time you return to the locker room.
“As I was saying, the balon d’or means that you are the best in the world. Do you think you are the best?”
He is playing with you and you are determined not to bite.
“I think I deserve to be in that conversation, yes” you were careful how you phrased your answer as you didn’t want to come across arrogant and you didn’t want to give him ammo to use against you.
“You won 5 champions league with Lyon” again he doesn’t ask a question.
“6, Y/N won 6” Alexia corrects him.
“Y/N won 5. She choose to sit out the final last year” Marcus says which pushes you over the edge, how he had the audacity to bring that up.
“and why was that again, oh yeah—“ Alexia loses her temper.
“Alexia, don’t” you lean in so that only she can hear you.
He ignores the moment between the two of you.
“If you fail tomorrow, if Barcelona lose then it means it wasn’t you who was world class. It was the players around you, they made you look good”
Alexia snaps.
“What about the two world cups or the gold medal she has won when she was 18. Y/N Y/L/N has come to Barcelona and made us better. That is the difference between the good and the great, she makes the extra effort to help the team improve, she has worked with every player on our team, before and after training so that we can be the best team possible”
At this point Alexia is standing her fists rest on the table in front of you.
“If you want to talk about players making someone look good, let’s talk about you. You are a —“
“Ok, the press conference is over. Thank you for coming, I hope you enjoy the game” you stand, arms resting on Alexia’s shoulders as you lead her out of the conference room.
She storms into the locker room, her body shaking with rage.
No one on the team knows what to say.
Alexia stands facing her locker, you have never seen her this angry before so you don’t know how to react. You too were furious, but in this moment your focus is on your girlfriend, not on Marcus Vernier.
“Are you ok?” Jana asks shyly.
The small sentiment of caring warms your heart, you really did find a family in the Barcelona team.
“Yes”
“No”
“How are you ok? He attacked you out there and you let him”
“I let him bury himself” you try to justify your actions or lack there of.
“The way he spoke about you, that wasn’t ok. He came for you Y/N and I wasn’t going to stand by as he tried to diminish your accomplishments. You are one of the most amazing people I have ever met, despite people like him trying to put you down”
You listen in awe, as does the rest of the team.
“Let’s give them a minute. We will be out on the pitch” Jenni says much to the disagreement of the team, most of them enjoying the sight of Alexia so open and sweet.
You move closer to her as the locker room empties.
“Ale”
“No, I won’t let him talk to you like that and get away with it. I love you and it is by job to protect you”
“What did you just say?” You are in shock upon hearing those 3 words.
“It is my job to protect you” Alexia repeats.
“Before that” you need to hear her say it again to make sure you didn’t make it up in your head.
“I said I love you and—“ Alexia stops as you realises what she has said.
“You love me?”
“I do” heat rises to alexia’s cheeks.
“I love you too” you tell the hazel eyed woman who stole your heart.
Alexia kisses you but before the kiss deepens someone clears their throat causing the two of you pull away.
“I wanted to apologise, I am sorry I didn’t recognise the name” the PR rep says.
Alexia’s eyes darken as she is one again ready to defend you.
“Ease up” you grab her hand pulling her back.
“You should be. We should never have never been put in that situation given my history with that man. Just make sure in the future that he is not given access to our press conferences”
“And you won’t tell anyone about what you just saw” Alexia tells him.
“Of course” the man says.
With that you and Alexia quickly change into your training clothes before joining the team on the pitch.
Just over 2 hours later and the sessions is finished, the next time the team will step foot on this pitch it will be to play the final.
You gingerly make your way to the sidelines not wanting to leave, not just yet.
“You coming?” Alexia asks you.
“Give me a minute” You notice Alexia stops walking but she doesn’t understand what you mean “alone?”
Alexia nods her head. She watches as you sit down in the centre circle as you look around the stadium. Over the past few days she has tried to put herself in your shoes. How would she feel if she were to play at Camp Nou but it being for a different team after been at Barcelona for years. She leaves you be but stands near the tunnel, not fully wanting to leave you alone.
A few minutes pass and a couple of Lyon players slowly make the way onto the pitch as their training session is due to start very soon.
“She does know that your training is over right?” Wendie says as she stands next to Alexia.
When Alexia turns to face her she sees more Lyon players coming to the pitch. Alexia sees Ada walk towards you so she tries to stop her.
“She asked for some time alone” Alexia says defensively.  Jealous fills her as she watches how to don’t push Ada way, instead you stand welcoming her into your arms, you head buried in her neck.
“I guess it has been a while since they’ve seen each other” Alexia tries to justify your actions even though she knows deep down she has nothing to worry about.
“Not really, Y/N was in Lyon back in February” Wendie says as if it is common knowledge.
“She was?” This is brand new information, why would you keep this from her. Only one reason comes to mind.
“Yes, I don’t know why or how long she was there for. I saw her arrive at the training ground as the team was leaving”
Alexia couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Not only had you gone to Lyon and not told her, you were training there.
“So you and Putellas?” This is the first thing Ada says to you.
“What makes you think that?” You ask.
Ada shakes her head. It was easy to keep your relationship a secret when you only spoke to her only the phone on FaceTime but now that she is seeing you in person, the connection between you and Alexia is clear.
“It obvious. Also, she’s looking at me like she wants to kill me”
You turn to face you girlfriend, it was definitely the death stare but as she sees you wave at her, her face softens.
“I didn’t see it coming but she makes me really happy. When everything was released she was there for me” you think back to the night you spent with Alexia, all the ways she tried to distract you from what the media was saying.
“It makes you coming back to us harder” you see the hurt in Ada’s eyes.
“Ada—“ your attempt to answer her fails as you get called off the pitch. The Norwegian walks back with you.
“Tinie” Wendie greets you.
“Tall” you give the French woman a quick hug.
You and Alexia enter the tunnel.
“Y/N” Ada shouts, you stop walking and turn to face her, Alexia does too “No matter the outcome, swap shirts with me tomorrow? I think its time we get you back in white”
“Sure thing” you reply before walking back to the locker room.
You notice how Alexia distances herself from you. She sits next to Marta on the bus back to the hotel and doesn’t wait for you before going back to your room.
“Hey, wait up” you shout but it’s too late as Alexia is already in your room. Luckily you get there just in time to stick you foot in the door otherwise you would be locked out.
“What’s wrong?” You ask.
Alexia leans against the window, her arms crossed against her chest.
“It must be hard for you to be back here after all this time away. The first time you are back here since leaving and it’s to play them in the final” there is no emotion in alexia’s tone.
You heard the way she emphasised the word first, she knew.
“I never said this was my first time back”
“A lie by omission is still a lie” she is quick to respond.
“I didn’t lie”
“You didn’t tell me” Now your girlfriend is shouting.
“I didn’t know I was going to come. It was after the SheBelieves”
“When you said you were going to spend a couple of days with your family, another lie”
“Stop calling me a liar Alexia” you snap.
“I did see my family but then I got a call from my manager, he told me that the higher ups at Lyon had requested a meeting with me”
“To get you back”
“That wasn’t what the meeting was for, at least that’s what I thought going into it. Listen Alexia, you don’t understand what is it like. I have a lot of ties here” you hope that Alexia would back off but it soon becomes apparent that wont happen.
“What about Barcelona, you have ties there”
“Not as many as I do here”
Alexia walks towards you and for a brief moment you think she is going pull you into her arms, whisper that she understands and that everything will be ok but that doesn’t happen. Instead she walks by you like you aren’t even there. She stops when she reaches the door, turning to look at you one more.
“I’m going to Jenni’s room. I should be will people who want to be on this team”
It was a like a knife to your heart.
You needed to get out of the hotel, get away from the pressure that was mounting in your chest. You needed to go to a place where you weren’t a Barcelona player or former Lyon player and you knew just the place.
Alexia sits at the table for the evening meal, the seat beside her saved for you, only it remains empty for the entire meal. She waits though until every player has finished eating before worry starts to set in. She makes up a plate for you before going up to your room.
Swiping her keycard she is shocked to find the room empty. Where could you be?
Alexia texts you, she calls you, both go answered. Leaving the room in search of you she goes to the players who she knows you have grown close with. All of them having no idea where you are.
She finds herself at a crossroads as she stands outside Vicky and Mel’s room. She doesn’t want to get you into trouble but at this point she doesn’t have a choice. Vicky is the only person she hasn’t asked, realistically she should have been the first, knowing that you respected your captain and wouldn’t have left without telling her.
Mel opens the door.
When the Catalonian locks eyes with her captain she knows that she knows where you are. The look on her face isn’t one of concern nor is it one of surprise that Alexia is there, it’s like she was expecting her.
“Where is she?” Alexia asks.
“Alexia, sit down” Vicky pats the spot next to her much to the dismay of her team mate.
“I don’t have time for this, I need to know she is ok”
Vicky gets her phone out, sending a text. Almost immediately she gets a response.
“There, happy” she shows Alexia at text from you saying that you are fine.
“Alexia, do you love her?” Vicky asks.
“I do”
“I know. I saw the way you stood up for her in that press conference but do you realise what that might have done it her, what the media was saying?”
Alexia’s eyebrows furrow.
“I’ll take that as a no. Y/N is one of the best players I have ever played with, a lot of baggage comes with that and unless you have been through it, you cannot understand it”
“I was unfair earlier. Its just — what if she leaves?” Alexia asks the question that has been replaying in head for the last couple of hours.
“It has nothing to do with us. We have to show that we will be there for her no matter what she decides”
“I can do that” Alexia says.
“Good, now this is where she went” Vicky shows Alexia the location on her phone before sending it to her.
You are stood on the balcony, looking out at the city of Lyon thinking about what has happened so far in your life to bring to this point. A knock at the door brings you back to the present.
“Hi” Alexia says, you move to the side so that she can enter your apartment.
You watch from a distance as you looks around the place you once called home. The awards that still lined the shelfs only now they were covered in a small layer of dust. Then she stops at a box that sat on your coffee table and the note on the top.
Y/N this belongs wherever you are. You never did find a home in a place, you found it in people. For a very long time I took great pleasure in being one of those people but now you have your new home and your new person.
Don’t be a stranger
A
“A” Alexia questions.
“Ada”
You watch as Alexia hesitates. She looks from the box then back to you, repeating the sequence a few times before you put her out of her misery.
“You want to know what’s inside, don’t you?” You ask even though you know the answer.
Alexia eagerly nods her head, patience never was one of her strong suits.
Her eyes grows wide as she looks inside.
There in her hands was something she has only dreamed of holding.
The Ballon d’Or, your Ballon d’Or.
“I always wondered where this was. Why didn’t you bring it to Barcelona with you?” Alexia asks. Is it because you never saw yourself staying there for more than one season, that is the question Alexia really wanted to ask but she remember what Vicky said to her.
“I have no doubt that you will soon learn this but once you win the Ballon d’Or, it is only yours for a couple of weeks. I won and I took it with me everywhere, media, photoshoots, appearances, both here and back in America then it was put in OL Le Musée. It was then I realised that the trophy no longer belonged to me, it belonged the the fans and the club. I think I can count on one hand how many times I have seen it since then”
Without noticing you close the distance between you and Alexia whilst talking.
“You don’t have anything Lyon related back in Barcelona”
“I guess I wanted a fresh start. I never intended to leave Lyon, I wanted to play there until I retire but then” a lump in your throat grows as you remember the events that lead to your departure.
“Hey, come here” Alexia pulls you into her arms as she holds up tightly.
“I tried to prepare for coming back here”
“But this isn’t the first time coming back” Alexia says, her tone is different to earlier on though, it isn’t as harsh.
“I thought it would only be for a day, two at most. Lyon wanted to apologise to me for what happened but then I was ambushed, it turned into a recruitment meeting. If I knew that going into the meeting I wouldn’t have gone. The only player I saw whilst here was Ada, I picked her up from training then we went for a coffee”
“That is why you were at the training ground”
“And you thought I was training with the team?” You ask in disbelief.
She nods sadly at the thought of you playing with a team other than Barcelona.
“My focus in on Barcelona Alexia, right now that is all I care about”
“I’m sorry for how I reacted earlier. I know that you have mixed feelings about being here and I probably haven’t helped. I feel like the longer you stay here the more likely it is that you leave me”
“Alexia, I don’t know what my future holds, tomorrow will decide that. I won’t make a promise that I have no control over”
Alexia didn’t understand what you meant. All she wanted was for you to say that you wouldn’t leave her, that you would stay in Barcelona but those words are never said.
“We should go” Alexia words hold no emotion as she stands, the softness that covered her face was no longer there and you knew that you were to blame.
“For what it’s worth I do love you, regardless of where I play that won’t change”
“We’ll see” Alexia says not believing you.
You and Alexia walk back to the hotel in silence and not the comfortable kind. You could cut the tension between you with a knife. As you walked the streets you saw posters advertising tomorrow’s game. The nerves beginning to brew as the enormity of tomorrow’s game becomes apparent.
                                                               *************************
The energy on the way to the stadium was tense, each player getting into the right mindset for the challenge that faced them.
You gently tap Alexia on her shoulder then point to her ear. Picking up on what your asking she pauses her music before taking her earphone out.
Her face in unreadable at first, the stoic expression that you had become accustomed to on game days looks back at you. You send her a smile hoping that she in turn smile back which she does.
“Do you want to talk? You went straight to sleep last night and I don’t like what being in this city is doing to us” you admit hoping that the two of you could talk before getting to the stadium.
“I need you with you me” Alexia blurts out, catching you by surprise “before you say anything, yes I know that I have what it takes, it’s just that I am better with you”
You lunge forward, giving alexia a quick kiss. Normally this action would be taboo as you and alexia agrees to keep your personal and professional life separate on game days.
“I am right here Ale”
Nothing more is said. Alexia puts her earphone back in but instead of looking out of the window, she leans on your shoulder, interlocking your fingers in hope to find peace before the chaos starts.
Saying the game was challenging would be an understatement. The first half is some of the hardest football you have ever played, Lyon were outplaying Barcelona in every way, you more so than anyone else. It was like they could read you mind but then again that was their job for the last six years, they needed to know what you were thinking, where you were going to play the ball and now that meant they they could predict your play and use it against you.
In your eyes it was a miracle that they had only scored one goal. Barcelona manage to get one back just before the half time whilst after Mapi sends in one the most accurate crosses you have seen, the ball finding your head perfectly. When the ball was in the back of your net you don’t celebrate, you only grab it and run back to the centre circle.
When the whistle is blown you waste no time hanging around, you run straight into the locker room. You were furious, at the team, at yourself and at the fact that the team were playing as if they have already lost.
Lluis speaks to the team explaining some new tactics that he hopes will help the team push the ball further up the pitch then Vicky gives her speech, the same one you have heard all season but the words carry more weight given the circumstances.
Once Vicky finishes you stand up.
“Do you mind if I speak to the team?”
Your words get the attention of the other players. Throughout the season you never spoke at half time so this is new and they knew the reason why.
“Put your hand up if you have won a champions league?” You ask raising your hand.
You look around the room, yours remains the only one in the air. The team look each other, knowing that they all desperately wanted to be able to raise their hand.
“Now, raise your hand if you want to win a champions league?” Whilst saying these words your eyes connect with Alexia’s. She was mad, this much you knew.
Everyone is quick to raise their hand.
“I had to ask because it didn’t look like it out there”
Your words earn a scoff from several players but you didn’t care. You didn’t become one of the best players in the world and a leader in the locker room, whether at club or country level, without giving and being on the receiving end of some tough love.
“The team that I have just played with isn’t the team that I spent the past 9 months with, why?” It is question you have been asking yourself for the last 45 minutes.
Mapi mumbles from her locker.
“Maria drop it” Alexia snaps.
Mapi shakes her head, clearly something is bothering the defender.
“No Alexia, let her talk. There can’t be secrets, not if we stand a chance of winning this thing” you say as you walk closer to Mapi.
“I said do you care?”
“What are you talking about, of course I care” how could she think you didn’t.
“You’ll just go back to Lyon if we lose” The adrenaline running though Mapi’s veins gives her the confidence to be honest, at this point what did she have to lose.
“Is that what this is about, is that what you all think?”
You hear a mixture of voices, all in agreement.
“You want the honest truth, here it is” you walk back the middle of the room so that you can address the whole team.
“If we lose then yes, I will probably go back to France” you see Alexia face drain of colour at your admission, it is what she has been fearing for weeks “but it won’t be by choice. When I got signed by Barcelona I was told one thing, help us win a champions league, that is why I am here. I signed a one year deal meaning that I only get one chance at giving the club what they asked”
“So if we win you stay?” Aitana asks.
“Well it would certainly help my contract negotiations” you say hoping to lighten the mood, the laughs you hear letting you know that you had achieved that.
“Question is, do you want me to stay? If you do we need to go out there and show them who Barcelona are, we need to give it everything we have because anything less won’t be good enough. Lyon are an tough team, I know this first hand but I know that if we work together and if we play like we have all season then we can beat them and we can become champions!”
Cheers and words of encouragement fill the Barcelona locker room. Everyone is pumped up and ready for the second half. You are about the follow the team out when you see Alexia still sat in her locker. Her arms resting on her knees as she stares at the floor. You bend down and tilt her chin so that she is looking at you.
“You want to stay?” Alexia asks.
“I do. You see there is this girl that I am crazy about and I really don’t want to leave her” you see Alexia physically relax upon hearing your words.
You stand up, holding you hands out to help her up.
“Feel free to go out there and score a goal, maybe set me up”
Alexia nudges your shoulder, pushing you into the wall. Both of you laughing as you run out the pitch, side by side just like how to should be.
The second half gives Lyon a wake up call. Barcelona are all over them. As soon as they get the ball, Barca soon get it back. Aitana assists Jenni, making it 2-1. Barcelona get a corner, Irene scores a header making it 3-1.
Lyon try a few plays but just like they know you, you know them and you told the team what to expect. During one play Mapi reads it perfectly, stopping Ada in her tracks before playing the ball up to you. You are running down the field, you look to your left and you see Alexia, after sending a simple pass, she takes one touch before taking a shot. You aren’t surprised when the ball hits the back of the net. 4-1. Alexia runs straight towards you.
“We really are going to to do it” Alexia says almost not believing that Barcelona are about to become champions.
“It’s not over yet”
There was only 10 minutes left you didn’t want to tempt fate.
“You’re right. Time for me to return the favour, when I run you run” Alexia says clearly hungry for more.
“What a good idea, why haven’t I thought of that” your voice thick with sarcasm.
The game restarts. The ball goes back and forth between the two teams but neither have the chance to take a shot. Time passes quickly and the score remains the same, you look towards the sidelines thinking that one of the teams are going to make a substitution but you see one the officials holding their board, 3, 3 minutes added time.
Barcelona have the ball and you know that is the last play of the game. You see Alexia running up the left side of the pitch, the ball at her feet, stopping just at the goal line before sending the ball in the box, you don’t need to take a touch as you volley the ball into the back of the net. 5-1. You run towards the corner flag, towards the fans that have welcomed you with open arms as you celebrate the goal with a knee slide. You don’t have the chance to get back to your feet as what you can only guess it the entire team piles on top of you.
“A women of your word” you tell Alexia as you walk back to your half.
“Always”
Your arm wraps around her shoulder as you bring her closer, quickly kissing her temple, she in turn playfully taps your bum.
Lyon play the ball but it is to late. The referee blows her whistle, you did it, Barcelona re wrote history and beat Lyon to become champions of Europe.
You go to your former team mates offering them words of comfort in some hope of consoling them. You stop at Ada.
“You just had to score that last goal, had to one up the last game”
You would be lying if you said you hadn’t thought about it. Lyon beat Barcelona 4-1 now Barcelona have beat Lyon 5-1.
“You know me” you pull her into a hug “Still want to swap?”
You feel her nod against your neck.
You take your shirts off, giving them to each other. You both respected each other enough to wear the opposition’s shirt regardless of the end result.
Ada smirks at the sight in front of her, you in a Lyon shirt, just like old times.
“The press are going have a field day with this” you laugh as you both pose for a photo.
You let Ada go back to her team whilst you run off to celebrate with yours, more specifically Alexia.
She sees you running towards her and meets you half way. She jumps into your arms, wrapping her legs around your waist.
“How does it feel?” You ask her.
She jumps down.
“Amazing! I have dreamt of this since I was a little girl, I can’t believe we are champions”
“You are. You see that trophy over there” you point to the sidelines “that’s ours”
“We won the champions league” Alexia says barely a whisper.
You would never get used this, seeing your team mates reaction to winning knowing that you played a small part in their happiness.
A staff member comes over to the two of you, handing you new shirts with champions on the back.
“I don’t like you in this” Alexia pulls at the Lyon shirt that clung to your body.
“Then take it off” you tease but much to your surprise Alexia does just that. She pulls the shirt over your head without a second though.
“Jesus Alexia, I wasn’t been serious” you joke.
“I was, I prefer you in this one” Alexia gives you the new shirt.
You and Alexia sit on the pitch as you watch your team celebrate. You rest your head on her shoulder as you take in the moment and what it meant.
“Thank you” you tell the woman beside you.
“For what?” Alexia replies.
“For being you, for loving me and for welcoming me into this crazy family” you feel your self get choked up when you realise just how much Alexia means to you.
“Thank you” Alexia says “for giving me a second chance. I know I wasn’t the most welcoming when you first came to the club”
“Understatement of the year” you mumble under your breath.
“Hey! I apologised for that. As I was saying” She takes as breath as she tries to find the right words “you came along and everything changed. My sister would tease me because, and I quote, ‘I had a light in my eyes that she had never seen before’ I didn’t know it at the time but it was you, you were that light. Since our night in the park I knew that we were destined to be together, at first I thought it was just on the pitch but then as time went along it was like I found my missing piece, my better half”
“Ale”
“I mean it Y/N, I never thought I would find some that understood me but you do and more than that you make me better in every way”
You hung on every word that Alexia said, you had never heard her speak so openly and here she is on the pitch with camera’s capturing every moment, telling you how you changed her life.
“I could say the same about you. When I came to Barcelona I was broken, smashed into a million pieces. It was like every moment I spent with you, two pieces would glue back together then months past and I began to feel more like myself than I had in years. I now have a new place to call home”
“Barcelona”
“No Alexia, you. You are my home now. Regardless of where I am in the world I will always feel at home when I am with you and I will never be able to thank you enough for that”

Cool for the Summer - Alexia Putellas x Reader
Summary: you end up dancing with Alexia at a club, two days before your first leg match against Barcelona in the Champions League.
You’d made a beeline to the bar with Jill, sipping your drink as you glanced around, swaying slightly to the music, the energy of the club motivating you to move as you spotted a group heading into the dance floor. Meeting Jill’s eyes, you gestured to the dance floor after the two of you had finished your drinks. The rest of your Wolfsburg teammates were somewhere in the club, but the Barcelona ladies were the life of the dancing party at the moment. Jill nodded, leaving her empty glass on the bar as you took her hands, keeping an eye out for anyone specific. The last thing either of you wanted was drama, but maybe Mapi and Ingrid wouldn’t see Jill, and it's not like they'd recognise you. So, maybe everything would be okay.
Dancing with Jill, the two of you laughed together, the song choices questionable at times until Jill leaned in, talking into your ear about making a song request and signalling over to the rest of your teammates. One of your fellow teammates came over, you didn't see who but the two were heading away towards the DJ, leaving you alone on the dance floor.
Your laugh was unheard over the music, but the next song choice had you laughing into your hand, glancing around the dance floor as Want To Want Me played. Your eyes widened as Jenni from Barcelona’s team danced her way over, having spotted you dancing alone as she offered you her hands, pulling you towards her group with a grin. Dancing with the Barcelona team, Everytime We Touch played as you spotted Jill finally getting to make her request, meeting her grin across the room at you before you stumbled over your own feet, falling into the arms of Barcelona’s captain, Alexia.
Opening your mouth to apologise, you promptly closed it as Alexia’s hands remained on your waist, swaying as the music changed to Despacito. You grinned into Alexia’s shoulder about the song as she held onto you, the two of you continuing to dance together as the other Barcelona girls danced around you both. A familiar piano tune restored your confidence as you realised what song Jill had requested, smiling at Alexia as your fingers moved to play with the baby hairs on the back of her neck, taking control of the dance as Cool for the Summer played.
“Got my mind on your body and your body on my mind…”
Biting your lip, you twirled Alexia around, smiling with your bottom lip between your teeth at her momentary shock, her hand cupping your face to prompt you into releasing your lip. Your face burned as you stared into her eyes, about to lean in when you spotted your Wolfsburg teammates trying to get your attention from the corner of your eye.
“Save me one more dance?” You asked, leaning in to whisper in her earher ear before stepping away. Bringing her hand up to your mouth to kiss it, you disppeared into the crowd as Alexia remained, smiling softly as she brought her hand to her chest.
“What’s going on?” You asked as Jill looped her arm through hers, face falling as you realised everyone from Wolfsburg was leaving, and you wouldn’t get your dance with Alexia. Even as you turned back to look into the club, spotting Alexia dancing with Jenni before Lena caught your attention, and the club was out of view.
///
Two days later: the Wolfsburg vs Barcelona game.
An elbow nudging you in the ribs broke you from your staring contest with the laces of your boots, looking up to spot Jill sat next to you, her knee bumping yours as she smiled, about to open her mouth and remind you of the events of two days ago but you shook your head.
“I know, I know, I don’t think they’ll recognise me anyway, I’m not that recognisable. Plus, nobody’s going to care, it’s a champion’s league match, everyone just wants to win.” You chewed your lip, squealing as Jill pulled you into her arms, tickling your sides as she argued you were plenty recognisable. Sticking your tongue out at her, you rolled out of her arms and off of the bench onto your feet, smirking at your friend before hurrying to join your other teammates for warmups outside.
Barcelona were on the other side of the pitch, warming up as you hurried over to join in, Jill right behind you as you all broke into your rhythms.
It was the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi finals, and you were watching from the bench for half-time in five minutes, but there your team was, forty minutes in and Barcelona had already scored four goals. The 38th minute goal twisted your stomach into knots as you realised who it was from Barcelona that had scored. It was her. Barcelona’s captain, the woman you danced with at the club, the woman you wanted to kiss, and the woman you asked to save you one more dance. Alexia Putellas.
61 minutes in, you were subbed on for Alex Popp, running onto the pitch as Popp exited from the other side, walking around the edge as you got into position.
Yet, 3 minutes later, 64 minutes in, your messy tackle sent Alexia onto the ground, landing on her hands and knees, whilst the ball rolled away, your face regretful as you stood up, the yellow card in the air as you walked it off. You couldn’t meet Alexia’s eyes, so you didn’t see the realisation on her face as you turned around, her memory of you from the club flickering through her mind before she shoved it back, focussing as Mapi passed her the ball to resume play.
At the 70th minute, Jill managed to score, with a VAR check for possible offside, everyone stood around waiting for the verdict. Your gaze locked onto the pitch, not daring to look up at Jill, or accidentally meet Alexia’s intense gaze. Brushing off the possibility Alexia would recognise you as anything but the Wolfsburg player who got a yellow for tackling her, the same words you’d said before to Jill echoed in your head. You weren’t that recognisable, and everyone here just wanted to win. Nobody cared about your identity. Nothing else mattered. Even at 4-1 to Barcelona.
Jill was subbed off at the 76th minute, and now your captain had a yellow card and Alexia was taking a penalty kick. Goal. Your gaze followed the Barcelona captain as she celebrated with her team, ignoring the butterflies in your stomach as the game continued.
5-1 to Barcelona. The first leg was Barcelona’s. Alexia had been subbed off at 90 minutes for Engen to come on, whilst another familiar face from the club was subbed on at 89 minutes, Leila Ouahabi.
Walking around the pitch, you hesitantly shake hands with some of the Barcelona players, freezing as you saw recognition in some of their eyes before you hurried away, looking for Jill.
It wasn’t Jill that you found as you headed towards the tunnel though. Instead, you met the eyes of the player you’d been avoiding, because you regretted tackling her so messily, plus, you owed her a dance.
Swallowing nervously, you gave Alexia a soft smile, not daring to speak as you glanced away, missing the smile she sent you back.

─ ⋅⋅ ━─┉┈◈❖◈┈┉─━ ⋅◈⋅ ── ⋅◈⋅ ━─┉┈◈❖◈┈┉─━ ⋅◈⋅ ─
Not playing in the Champions League is certainly disappointing, but the fact that you can go to your girlfriend's games cheers you up. You'd been going out with Jana since the SheBelievesCup in 2020. It was the start of the USWNT vs Spain match, and you had just inspected the pitch when you saw that the La Roja team had arrived to do the same. That's when you met for the first time. You weren’t necessarily looking for love, but it seems to have found you and hit you hard.
//
At the end of the match, it was thanks to Kelley and Emily that you had the courage to approach her to talk. You were scared because you'd just won the match and destroyed their hopes of winning the SheBelievesCup. After that, the more the days went by, the more you got to know each other, which is why, at the end of the 2020/2021 season, you decided to go to Gothenburg in Sweden to watch her Champions League final.
Sitting alongside some of the WSL players, you were one of the only ones wearing a Barcelona shirt, even the Arsenal players who were there were wearing a Chelsea shirt despite their rivalry.
//
When the final whistle blew, you rushed to the edge of the stands in hope of seeing her. She took you down onto the pitch with the help of her captain, Alexia Putellas. You thanked Alexia before she winked at you and left to see the rest of the team.
Once the celebrations were over, you went back to the hotel with Jana's team, so it must have been a coincidence that she was alone in her room. You remember you kissed for the first time that evening and you said we'd talk about it when we woke up in the morning if we remembered...
You remembered, and you plucked up the courage to ask her to be your girlfriend. She kissed you back with a big smile and asked if you could keep it between you, because despite everything you're still young, and even though you're in the 21st century, homophobia is still present.
"Of course", you replied, agreeing with her, because even if you’re quite open about it, it's not always easy to live with it when you can get beaten up in the street for it.
//
That's how you ended up in Eindhoven this year, wearing a shirt with 'FERNANDEZ' written on the back with her number 5. This time you were again in the company of players from Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, some of whom were for Barcelona and others for Wolfsburg.
When the abutment team came out, she instantly found you; it was as if she knew you were there, in that very spot. Wishing her good luck from a distance, she gave you two thumbs up and a big smile. These actions did not go unnoticed by Leah Williamson and Lia Walti, who were sitting behind you.
At half-time you tried to reach down to grab Jana and tell her that everything was going to be fine, that she shouldn't go away defeatist.
"Jana" you shouted a little, so that she could see and hear you, she was surprised to see you here, instead of in your seat.
"Stop stressing, stop being scared, you're FC Barcelona, the best team in the world, you can do it. You can win, all right? I trust you, I trust you. So get moving okay, where's the team that gave us a 4-0 hammering during the season?" you say, hoping to cheer her up so she can do the same afterwards in the dressing room.
"We're going to win, I promise, mi amor," she tells you, whispering the last part.
"I'd rather that, now go on, your team's waiting for you, I love you," you say, blowing her a kiss on the cheek and shaking her hand before climbing back into your seat.
When the match resumed, it was immediately clear that Barcelona had not finished fighting, and what the coach had to say in the dressing room did them good, even a little too much, because in just 2 minutes, Patri levelled the score. Ten minutes later, it was Fridolina Rolfo's turn to score, putting the team ahead for the first time in the match.
With a score of 3-2, FC Barcelona regained the title of best team in Europe. As two years ago, you rushed to the edge of the stands for Jana, who quickly noticed me and helped me down the barrier. Deja vu, eh?
"I'm so proud of you" you say, taking her in your arms and twirling her around.
"I could never have done it without you mi amor" she said, wrapping her arms around your neck.
"I want to kiss you can I?" you asked, looking her straight in the eye.
"Go ahead, show the world that I'm yours and you're mine" she said, smiling.
With that, you put your lips on hers before we pulled away because of the wolf whistles that Mapi, Alexia and Bruna were blowing at you.
//
The day after the celebrations, you woke up with a massive headache, to the ringing of Jana's and your phones. She still has her head on you chest with one arm under the pillow and the other on top of you.
"Por favor apaga tu teléfono mi amor" she begged you, burying her head in your neck to get comfortable.
"Careful" you said as you moved to pick up both yours phones, when you handed her hers, you'd already switched your on to find out what was going on, you'd only had time to read one notification when you saw that Kelley was calling you on facetime.
"Hi?" you say, yawning and making sure Jana was comfortable.
"Don't "hi" me, how come it takes you a season in Spain, to be in a relationship with someone?" she asked you half seriously and half jokingly
"Honestly? it isn’t from this season" you say.
"What? and you didn't tell me" she said.
"Oops?" you say, blocking your eyes with Jana who looked at you in incomprehension.
"You could at least be polite and put your girlfriend on so I can say hello to her" she said with a smile.
After that disastrous call, you decided to go back and check the notifications on instagram, when you saw that Jana and you had got your fans chattering all over the web last night with your kiss. Your fans even had time to make edits. Before you know it, Jana had taken a photo of you and posted it on her instagram story, her head with your arm around it and you on your phone looking at all the photos where you'd been tagged. She captioned it, "the best wake-up after being European champion. 💙"

I was tagged by Lise, Lin and Ander (aka @acrazybayernfan , @thommi-tomate and @miasanmuller) to do this veeeery interesting tag game! thank you all 🤗
What's your top 10 most memorable bayern matches?
In no particular order:
Tumblr media
8 - 2 vs Barcelona: I mean, pretty self explanatory. It was like our 7 - 1 in brasil 2014.
Tumblr media
5 - 1 vs Wolfsburg: literally who would've thought we'd witness a literal world record happen in front of our very own eyes in less than TEN MINUTES? that was absurd but in a good way! till this day i feel bad for vfl's keeper to the point i remember his name JAJAJJA
Tumblr media
1 - 0 vs PSG: i was going through some stuff around that time (and believe it or not it wasn't because of the pandemic or anything related to it) so i was really not with my head in the game sort of speak, i literally watched the match in zombie mode until the goal happened and there i woke up a little and then when the match ended i bursted out crying JAJAJJA, it was like the perfect occasion to release emotions and it literally brightened my day, it was just what i needed that moment!
Tumblr media
4 - 2 vs Juventus: i legit have this match downloaded on my laptop, in fact i watched it fairly recently! it's just the fact that we literally had ALL THE ODDS against our favor, losing during 90 minutes only for thomas to score literally on stoppage time AND THEN secure the match in less than two minutes? that was WILD! probably the most memorable in my book.
Tumblr media
2 - 1 vs Köln: look, for the sake of transparency i didn't watch the match when it happened. It's not that i lost hope but rather they played very early and i prioritized my sleeping time 😂 but idk how effective that was since i slept like shit knowing deep down this was the title defining match going neck to neck against the bees nonetheless! but surprisingly i woke up just when both matches ended and i remember asking here "WHAT HAPPENED" and someone said "we won bundes!!" and then seeing the dash's reaction and finding out we won during the last minute + the bees blew it.... my jaw hit the floor omg.
Tumblr media
4 - 0 vs Chicago Fire: I know this was a friendly but it was Bastian's farewell match and dude..... it was so emotional. Seeing him cry his heart out in a dim light stadium where everyone were cheering on him while a spotlight focused on him was just too heartwarming. Seeing club legends retire is never easy so i hope that doesn't happen ANY TIME SOON 😭
Tumblr media
2 - 1 vs Dortmund: now this one is extra special because at the time i was familiar with bayern thanks to mr bavaria but i wasn't exactly a die hard "must watch every match" kind of fan, it was more of a casual thing and i remember coming back from school or something, turning on the tv and i swear to GOTH literally thirty seconds later robben scored and i was so confused about everything until the match ended and i was like "oh, they won a trophy, that's nice :))".......it was later when i realized the importance of the entire thing 🤪
vs Villareal: now i know this sounds weird but like, there hasn't been a day where i don't question myself "how the everloving fuck did we lose against them?". ALL THEY DID was make all eleven players defend their area, that's literally it.... AND YET WE COULDN'T BEAT THEM! I AM STILL DUMBFOUNDED AND CAN'T GET OVER IT.
Tumblr media
1 - 3 vs Liverpool: once again.... i know this is odd given bayern lost...... but these are my two favorite teams of all time. I remember when it was announced both teams were playing against each other i felt personally attacked, i literally couldn't decide who to cheer on, every goal felt bad, every attack felt bad, and seeing how bayern lost in horrible fashion it was like... i couldn't even celebrate for lfc, i was in neutral mode and it was wild. At least it eventually led lfc to win ucl but still, it was 180+ minutes of double tension 😵‍💫
Tumblr media
7 - 2 vs Tottenham: honestly how can you forget this one? it was absurd! serge came out for blood that day, against the sp*rs nonetheless!!!! i know we always joke about bayern destroying london teams but this was just unexpected, right now i feel like rewatching 😂
I'm pretty sure i'm missing one or two matches that shook me to the core, but i guess these will do rn. It was fun!
Tagging people from my latest bayern gifset because i know everyone has been tagged already so feel free to ignore this if so: @fabioquartararhoe @probayern @chelleisamazing @youknowitsworthfightingfor @dieclownschaft @gxtzeizm @uncoolfc @fcbalding @shrimpeon @be-lucky-again @colorsofmyseason @angry-pinscher @miss-i-ship-it and whoever wants to do this! just say i tagged you and you're it! :D

What is your top 10 most memorable Bayern’s matches? (by that I mean matches that immediately comes to your mind to you when you think about Bayern, matches of which you know the score and the story by heart because they marked you) And then tag ten other Bayern's fans : )
Thanks for tagging me Lise dear @acrazybayernfan 🫶🏽
Several I didn't see at the time but in repeats but even as repeats they made me feel a lot.
They don't go in a specific order but I put them from most recent to oldest
1. Bayern vs Köln 27/5/2023: it is very recent but I think it is really a moment that will live forever in the collective consciousness, most if not all of us really thought that the league was lost, after 10 years and seeing that goal of Bambi, waiting for the result in Dortmund, the explosion of happiness of everyone, I really cried a lot, I did not believe it, I really think it was one of the most magical matches of the club.
2. Bayern vs PSG 7/4/2021: the end of the Flick era, one of the most beautiful ones but that the fall was a resounding one for many different factors, a game that could have been more and the result was frustrating especially for losing against a team like that and against someone as annoying as N*ymar, I also think it was a turning point for the club.
3. Bayern vs Barcelona 14/8/2020 : it's a bit funny how often that match is remembered more than the final itself, but it is an iconic result, not only for the club but for the history of football in general, the goals kept coming and one could only wonder is that they are going to end? A match that made us puff out our chests with pride showing the overwhelming power of the team, simply incredible.
4. Bayern vs Hoffenheim 29/2/2020 : a match that despite winning 6-0 I think what was really memorable was the performance of the players, coach and management asking for respect to the fans and the solidarity protest with the Hoffenheim players in the last 15 minutes, the fact that the whole team scolds the fans is not something that happens often and is really something that surprises.
5. Bayern vs Wolfsburg 22/9/15: of this one is simply iconic and historical those 5 goals in 9 minutes by Lewy, there is nothing more to say a football milestone
6. Bayern vs Dortmund 25/5/2013 : the most incredible, spectacular and iconic champions final of the last 10 years and I don't care if someone says it's not, because they lie, after the animic blow that 2012 was for the team that final will always be the holy grail, I love the 2019/20 season but is that 2012/13 is something different, that match, even from the previous show was something spectacular, exalting all the senses, simply a marvel.
7. Bayern vs Chelsea 19/5/2012 : the game that was the breaking point of the team, with nothing in their hands, reaching that final at home and losing it in an incredible way despite that incredible goal by Thomas, but despite being very painful it was an important point for the club and what it is now, that generation was golden and turned the pain into energy to create a revolution of the club, create a fearsome and overwhelming giant. Whenever I think about that before being what the club is now some tears come to my eyes from seeing what a team was creating little by little , stone by stone.
8. Bayern vs Inter Milan 5/22/2010: the final of the UCL, despite being completely defeated, I think it was an incredible game more than anything else for what it represented, the team came with the illusion of winning a treble, and although they did not win the Champions League I think from that game you could see the foundations of what would become the era of modern Bayern.
9. Bayern vs Lyon 27/4/2010 : UCL semifinal , Ivica makes a hattrick, is a match that I would pay to have seen it live, it was a magical match, that hattrick of Ivica was vibrant, I was very excited and that was a replay, Ivica I think he is not remembered as much as other players but personally I love watching replays of his games, he was an incredible striker.
10. Bayern vs Dortmund 12/9/2009 : this one has more of an emotional value from Thommi because it was his first Klassiker where he scored his first goal in Bundesliga and also his first brace and at the home of the bees, I am very excited to see that game no matter how many times I watch it because I always find it amazing how talented Thomas has always been.

would princesse be friends with Ingrid and Mapi´s daughter since I am guessing that she visits Rolfö a lot and loves a few of the playes in Barcelona
Princesse is the only baby in her universe (but Peanut and Liefje share a universe with each other and are long distance besties while Bean and Nena both exist in a universe together but have never met)
Princesse does spend a lot of time with Frido but she rarely meets the other Barca players until she's a bit older. Of course, she meets Alexia a few times before the World Cup and Aitana at the Denmark vs Spain friendly but she doesn't really have many interactions with the rest of them.
She does however know all of the Scandinavian girls. Of course, Frido's her aunty and she knows her very well. She knows Caro as well because she used to play at Wolfsburg. Princesse also knows Ingrid too which is how she knows Mapi.
Mapi's actually one of the Barca players that Princesse meets outside of football. She's simply 'Ingrid's girlfriend' and it takes a while for Princesse to even realise that Mapi plays football professionally.
