note: based on tswift, lavender haze. And, its a fun one! fluffy and fun hehehe. I hope i did Kenny justice leg, and I hope u like it! <3

“So, what's the plan today Ray ray?” Rose asked as she took a sip of her drink, taking a seat opposite her who's busying herself on her laptop since an hour ago.

She sigh, closing the laptop shut.

"Apparently, since the appearance we made at the carpet. Everyone's been bombarding me with questions, and...not so nice comments and I decided to respond to some of it. At least." She said the final bit quietly, as Rose's eyes shot up in concern for her big stepsister.

"That's not good, let me see it." Rose pulls the laptop aside, as she saw the comments flooding in as her inbox notification popped up from Julia. Raylene's new book is on its way of publication, and then she saw it. It's under one of her tweets. Somewhere along the line of supporting, nasty, awful and horrifying. Rose grits her teeth in the brutality of people given the freedom of speaking.

"See I told you." Ray sighs before decide to shut the laptop down.

"Does Kenny knows about this?"

Raylene stood up with laptop in hand, her brown eyes meeting her sister grey ones. She shakes her head, and said.

"Promise me you won't tell a soul." The threatening tone took Rose by surprise however, she nods in understanding. If she doesn't wanna tell, no one can. Rose turned to face her sister once again, as her eyes soften at the sight of the worry.

"Roselyn Anne Gray. I"ll be okay, just some setbacks. I have to meet Julia in a bit, so I'll be back in a jiffy." She salutes Rose before making her way out to meet with Julia for their final publication meeting.

For Kendall, since the red carpet. He's been the happiest. Biggest smiles whenever he walked into set, as he talks about her. Finally, talking about her without being private about it because everyone knows.

Taylor smirks at his best friend,

"Thinking of a certain somebody huh?"

Kendall smiles back at him,

"Always." He smiles at the answer too, while Taylor pretends to vomit in disgust. However, he's happy for his buddy. The smile on his face vanished for a second, and Taylor noticed it - somehow they have this language of understanding with one another.

Kendall sighs, before blurting out whatever it is in mind. "Everything is wonderful and happy, except for the emails Bernie has to face, TMZ emailed her about releasing info on Raylene. It's kinda fucked up actually."

Taylor's eyes widen in surprise.

"She's a nice person, what the hell is wrong with people?" He voiced out, as Kenny takes a sip of his water shrugging in distress too, before checking the time.

"Conflict aside, I have to be on set in an hour. I'll see you later?"

Taylor nods, before Kendall left the room. What Bernie said to him stood out for the most of the day. He sent a quick text to Dominic over a late supper later, before preparing himself for today's agenda.

"White or red?" Raylene asks as Kenny points to the red one on the left.

"Good choice." She compliments him, before bringing it to the front for them. It's his final day on set earlier, and they are celebrating it together at her place. The penthouse was supposed to be their destination, but to his insistence, they ended up here. He only visited her place thrice since they were together, but he likes it better here. Maybe because she's here with him, makes every little place shine a bit brighter than the others.

Ray place both wine glasses down, before taking her seat beside him. Immediately pouring each glass for them, cheers and congratulations to him.

"Cheers to the new movie."

"another Oscar for me." He says jokingly, as Ray smiles at the statement.

"never say never." After they drink, she positioned herself in a cocoon in his arms. She sighs as she leans into him, the tiredness of the day caught her off-guard. After saying goodbye to Rose and the internet debacle, she met up with Julia for her publishing date; it's closing by and she's feeling overwhelmed with everything.

Her train of thought was interrupted when Kendall places the remote down, as her name in particular was mentioned. Some sort of entertainment news, and there she is in her outfit earlier today; walking out of the publishing office with her head down. Flashes of cameras follow her back until she enters her vehicle. It has been an occurrence for her ever since they decide to introduce her as Raylene Gray, Kendall Lawton's new girlfriend.

The noise suddenly disappear, as Kenny turns his head to face her.

"Isn't that the publisher's house?"

"Unfortunately, yes."

"Have they been following you?" Alert fills his tone, as she shakes her head. They haven't followed her back home, nothing that bad, fortunately. However, for the route to Kenny's penthouse and other locations which are outside of her home proximity.

"Fortunately yes, but I'm still one piece." And then she laughs, somehow in the lines of hysterical and worrying. Kendall placed a hand over her back, pulling her close to him on the couch.

"Are you sure you're okay?" He notices it, and matches the worrying expression also on his face.

She takes a deep breath, placing the wine glass down, before blurting what has been on her mind.

"How do you do this? How do you handle yourself well under scrutiny? I couldn't do it like you. You did it perfectly, perfectly well." She says in between breaths, as Kenny takes her hand in his. Tracing the lines on her palm, from left to right, as she calmed herself down.

"That's easy, the cameras love me."

And a smack on his arm by Raylene herself.

"Not funny Kenny."

"Okay okay, kidding. Not really, but - in the end; they can talk and write, make it go viral, or whatever. They don't know us, they only write what they want to. We just got to keep our heads up, which is...."

"easier than done, yeah." She sighs again before he continues.

"In the end, it's just me against the world of cameras and fame. It's not an easy battle, but now, you're here with me. You know you don't have to be alone, just like we promised the last time.

And she did remember it, on the red carpet where they publicize their relationship. It's them against the world of people, good or bad. Nothing can stop them from letting this love spiral.

They sat in silence, mostly herself; as she thinks about it. Her thoughts wander over her publication day is weeks away, and she can handle this. Kenny assured her, she trusts him. She trusts that it would get better, talk your talk and go shit for those paparazzi. She can do it.

Weeks passed, and the publication day arrives. It's her day, and she learned quite some tricks. Just lower her head, and get her music prepared. And she did, there she is; getting herself ready at his apartment.

She stands in front of the mirror, only to earn a whistle from him. Kenny stands by the door, and the archaic look on his face was evident and easily decipherable. The man is in love, truly in love, truly in his very own lavender haze.

"What do you think of this one?" She poses his way, and it is a black-colored two-piece suit. And he felt his eyes widen much more, with his pupils growing in sync.

"Perfect actually." He begins making his way to her and places a kiss on the side of her cheek.

"It's your day, and I can't wait to see you there miss Gray." She glances down, as her cheeks heat up at the compliment. She nods too, it's her day and she will not let anything stand her way.

"I, unfortunately, have to go, Rose is waiting for me. But, I'll see you there?"

"Promise, and I won't be late." He smiles before she disappears from his view. The smile stays until the time has come.

"Today, we're introducing the author of her debut fantasy, Miss Raylene Gray to the panel." The announcer says with such enthusiasm, as the room fills with applause for her.

She makes her way to the panel, only to be met with a number of familiar eyes. She lowers her gaze to find him there, Kendall sitting front and center with Rose by his side and Taylor on his left. She waves at them, before casting her gaze at the audience in front of her.

"Thank you for having me today, and thank you for hosting this so so much." She says first and foremost, as the speaker begins the event. Her eyes scan the crowd, only to find his. There he was, even under the scrutiny; the man really handles it beautifully despite all of this being new to her.

This is their type of lavender haze, with everything that's happening; she learns to not give a damn about what they say. Because, it's their haze, and they are here to stay.

prompt: day 1 of ockiss22 - greeting for @ockissweek

summary: dating a celebrity, how hard could it be? ✨

Dating a celebrity isn't what it ought to be. She never expected life to be less hectic, and she's proven so - by being a walking shadow in between flashes that's been capturing her new boyfriend, Kendall Lawton. Raylene never thought that life would turn this way - all those months before where she met him first at the premiere was the first time she laid eyes on him. He was different, something about him made her want to be close to him. Something about him intrigues her much more - and she couldn't stay away. They say if someone lets one feel - it's always worth it to explore it, and she did through awkward banters that ended up making the boy laugh in joy at her quirks and that's where it all began. And here she is, dating him. A celebrity who hasn't been wrapped around her head yet, as she sneaks in which is a part of an attempt to avoid being noticed she stepped into the 5th Avenue building, heading towards his penthouse. She manage to enter the building without much suspicion, but she somehow almost caught an eye of a pap that was waiting at the front of the location. She sighs in relief before she's greeted by the guard of the building who is a familiar face to her, Alex. He bows in greeting as she nods, before leading her to the elevator towards Kendall's penthouse home.

The elevator stopped at the penthouse floor, as she was greeted by Bernie and Taylor who is Kendall's personal assistant and long-term best friend. Bernie and Raylene have gotten quite close ever since Kendall introduced them to each other, hence Bernie become one of their early witnesses upon their relationship entanglement, including Rose, Taylor, and Dominic himself. She met Dominic and Taylor over dinner a few weeks ago - and they indeed had a blast together.

"Ray, I'm heading out right now - but, I'll see you soon enough." Bernie smiles widely at her, as her arms widen for a hug while Raylene returns the gesture as Taylor joins in the hugging farewell fest too.

"I'll head out too, see you soon R." before disappearing from her peripheral vision.

After they both left, she placed the homemade pizza she brought for him. Kendall suggested on date-in on one of his days off and she couldn't say no. She decided to surprise him with the pizza Rose made earlier, which she knows he'll love. Her gaze lands upon the glass windows in a distance, as there are buildings miles and miles in front of her. She lets out a sigh in awe at how beautiful everything is from above. Her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden presence that wrapped her into an embrace from behind.

"Okay, you know what - don't let go; let's stay like this for a long long time," Raylene says, as a chuckle escapes from him - before she turns to face him.

"How long do we have?"

Raylene pretends to check the time, before placing an arm around his neck - her lips forming a wide smile.

"Maybe....for the rest of eternity, or maybe even 5 o'clock, who knows?"

"Look who's cheesy now." He teased her, as a sound of laughter escaped her lips.

"Cheesy is never wrong. Nothing could fault the cheese."

"Whatever you say, Ray." before Kendall sneakily places a kiss on her cheeks earning a wide grin from her.

"I miss you." She admits after the silence that follows, as they haven't seen each other for a few weeks due to Kendall's filming schedule.

"And...I brought pizza!" She drags him to see the homemade pizza as he nods at the sight of it. he felt his mouth begin to water at the sight of it, as Ray takes the box with her - leading them onto the couch in his living room.

The pizza box was placed perfectly on top of the table, as Ray begins to search for the perfect movie. Kenny finds himself staring at the woman sitting next to him in awe, as she turns to face him.

"Okay, do I have something on my face Kenny?"

He chuckles, before shaking his head.

"Then?"

"Maybe, I just want look at you?" He simply says before she smacks his shoulders in a playful way.

"Shut up." She tries to hide behind one of those fluffy couch pillows he has before her cover was blown. He ended up taking one of the pillows away from her, as they both end up on a spontaneous pillow fight while the pizza sat still on the table somehow witnessing their showdown. After two faithful rounds, they both took their places once again on the couch as Ray finds herself leaning onto his embrace, as a rom-com began to play in the background.

As the movie has been playing for around an hour, their focus has been shifted as Bernie made her appearance once again at the penthouse with quite a serious expression on her face.

"Bernie, everything alright?" He paused the movie as Ray also feels a tinge of concern at her sudden arrival after leaving just an hour ago.

"Yeah, I'm good but we have a situation."

"About?"

Bernie went silent before she laid it to the couple, as they both stood nervously - perhaps something happen; an international scandal occurred that they didn't realize.

"We need to talk about both of you today."

Kendall begins to overthink his whole existence within those four words at the beginning of her sentence, as she met Raylene's eyes. Why does this feel much more terrifying than anything else?

"Um...sure." his voice sounds weary, as the three of them take a seat at his couch earlier. He didn't realize he's been holding his breath as Raylene does the same before Bernie begins to speak.

"The paparazzi have begun to recognized Raylene on the new issue that's been released an hour ago." Bernie placed the tabloid on the table, as it sit stills beside the pizza box she brought earlier.

Kendall's eyes widen in worry, as he begins to inspect the issue. And their worries upon privacy have been shattered, as it's Raylene being photographed in her hoodie, as she stepped into his building - which he thought is quite absurd but, this is the life he has chosen in the end.

"This is not good, they'll attack her Bernie."

Raylene turns to him with wide eyes at the statement, as he gives her hand a squeeze, trying to reassure her and himself too.

"I know, I've managed to reach out to the company with Dominic's help - and the issues have been taken down....now." As she nods in confirmation at the statement, Ray lets out a breath of relief.

"So, what should we do now? I think some of them have gotten copies, even links that were shared. Ray's privacy could be compromised here." Kendall's voice is laced in worry, as Bernie calms him down.

"I have an idea as always but, we need both of your co-operation here."

They both nod in unison, as Bernie lays the idea. Two words, be public before she leaves the apartment once more, leaving Ray and Kenny to think about what the heck just happened.

"So, to put it short - we have to go public. We have to tell the world, we are together?"

He nods, but a part of him feels excited about the idea. But, being in a relationship means being a part of the same team - and he needs to know if she wants it too. Privacy in the entertainment industry is non-existent and he hesitates to bring this part of his world to her, he witness beforehand what damage the paparazzi had brought to the other artists. He doesn't want to put Raylene in that situation too.

"So, what do you think?"

She chuckles, somehow her mind is thinking quite deeply today too.

"Hey, it's okay to take your time with this. This is a huge thing for us both." His voice is gentle to her ears, as his arms open wide for her which is also another form of reassurance for her.

"I'm sorry, this feels like...a lot to even take in and, I just - I know I want to be with you, we are together. But, being public - letting the world knows feels...terrifying in prospect." She explains as Kenny nods in understanding.

"You probably think that's stupid huh?" She tries to humor the tension between the issue but fails tremendously,

"No, no it's not stupid. I never asked how you feel about all of this because everything already feels okay, but the decision is definitely important and everything you say is very true, babe." Kenny says as they both end up in a quietness after the talk with Bernie as Kendall plays with her hair - pushing it away from the strains of hair that are covering her eyes. The purple dye is quite a statement from her, as he recalls Raylene telling him about her hair transformation as a middle finger - and he likes it. Very very much. He likes every part of her, as he remembers how much of an impression she made when they first met. Rose was a close friend of his and he was not aware of the fact that Rose has an older sister, and they met during one of his premieres. She ended up trying to sell a pun his way, and he was undone. Hypothetically.

He wants everyone to know that this person, this girl has captured her heart and he wants to scream it, maybe he could be on top of the roof of his penthouse. But, he wants everyone to know - that he likes her. Maybe loves her even, at how many times she's been a rock to him. She has been coming over to sets and has been with him through the start and he wonders, how does she end up becoming one of the best parts of his chaotic life. A life where it's never meant to be private, a life where every single specimen of his life is under the entertainment microscope. And yet, here she is - he never saw it, until now. He never wanted to scream more to the world than right now with her being in his arms, as he held her there.

"I don't know why, but I actually want them to know about us." As her head whipped, facing him, with an 'o' expression on his face making him chuckle.

"You do?"

"Yeah, because I want to show the world that you are mine, Raylene Gray."

Ray felt herself blushing at the confession.

"What if they say...stuff about us?" Her fear of the media coming is evident because no one can control how much the media can say or do making her fear valid again, as Kendall begins to reassure her with a smirk of his own.

"The only thing they'll be saying is that I have a bomb girlfriend who I adore very much."

Instead of worrying, she laughs at the response, and then the next moment she's smiling again as Kenny bops her nose earning a fit of giggles from her.

She thought about it again, a thought going through her mind. Is she ready to face this, and everything else that's coming to her. Dating a celebrity is not easy as it ought to be then, she thought again. But, something about him - it feels like a risk worth taking. He was born for this life, she didn't yet love never sails wrong. Love? The thing that could steer her decision away. She loved being with him, she loved spending time with him - she loved all the kisses he gave her, all the warm hugs that follow. Everything about him is unexpected to her, yet she will forever be grateful to have someone like him. She stares at him for a moment as he is having a conversation with Bernie on the phone - before he turns to face her. She smiles at him, as he asks.

"Are you sure?"

Raylene thinks about it one more time and finally nods. He looks at her in surprise before a smile fills his face, before continuing his conversation with Bernie over the phone once again. She smiles at the sight of him being happy, and she thinks again. Someone like him is worth it, more worth it than what the media can do. It's not every day you meet someone that will give you the adventure of a lifetime, and he's the unexpected risk in her life and she will forever be excited to be on this journey with him.

"Okay, Bernie has given us the green light. We'll meet on Friday night for the premiere and that's the beginning. A greeting to the cameras and the world to tell them that we are actually together." Kenny says as Ray nods in agreement after their meeting with his assistant ended.

He takes her hand in his, squeezing it - a sign of reassurance. They'll be okay.

The day has come, as Raylene is getting ready for their debut as a couple. She's at her apartment with Rose who's helping her with make-up, as she stands in from of the mirror.

Her phone lights up, as she answers it meeting a familiar face.

"Hey, the car is ready; Dom, Taylor, and Bernie are with me here too." At the mention of their name, a number of hellos can be heard from the other side of the line.

"That's nice! Rose is finishing up my final touches - and I think... we're ready to go." Raylene explains as Rose waves at him from the side as she finishes up her hair.

"Alright, be right there soon." And the line goes off. Raylene takes a deep breath, as she glances at herself in the mirror. She's wearing a black ball gown, with a slit on the side of the skirt to match with Kendall's black and white-colored suit Her makeup is a mix of elegance and minimalist, as her purple-colored hair is styled in an up-do in the form of a bun, as the final touches along with an extra touch of silver dye just for the sake of funsies.

"Kenny wouldn't see what's coming to him, sis," Rose says in a teasing tone that made Ray blush in crimson red, as the text indicates that her ride has arrived.

She waited at the apartment lobby, as her ride arrives meeting four different pairs of eyes looking at her in awe. Bernie is smiling approvingly at her, as Dom nods alongside Taylor who nudges teasingly at her boyfriend who is staring at her with the real embodiment of heart-eyes.

"You look beautiful," Kenny whispers into her ear, causing a shiver through her body as Kendall took her hand in his.

"You look handsome too, Kenny." She replies, before realizing there's an audience in front of them both.

Taylor is smirking teasingly at them both, as Dom shakes his head at his actions. Bernie is busying herself on her phone, perhaps doing what she does best.

"It's okay, both of you look amazing. The world wouldn't know what hit them." Taylor reassures them both, as Kendall stares at him in surprise.

"That's the first non-stupid thing that came out of your mouth." Kendall teased him, as Taylor rolls his eyes at the insult.

"Your welcome. I can be good when I wanted to be." Taylor replies with a high amount of confidence as the car halts to a stop, it's time.

"Okay, just like we talked about. If you get nervous - just, give me three squeezes of the hand, you'll be okay." Kenny explains once more as Bernie, Taylor, and Dominic begin to exit the car.

She takes a deep breath before taking his hand as the noises around her feel overwhelming, yet everything about it feels so exciting.

There are cameras everywhere, the lights are brighter than her supposed future - but, deep breaths she took her first step with Kendall by his side.

Everything felt like a dream and a reality at the same time - as the sound of screams can be heard, the photographers begin to capture their every move. They both halt to a stop in the middle of the carpet, as Kenny whispers to her ear.

"You ready?"

She receives three hand squeezes from him, and nodded. She's ready, with his by her side. It's like a greeting to the world, they are something real. This is real life and they are real at this moment.

"I do."

Kendall smiles, taking her free hand to his lips placing a kiss on her knuckles as they posed. The flashes become wilder, as Kendall turns to face her, his smile calming her nerves as he leans forward capturing her lips on his. Their debut, their greeting to the world to tell them, they are indeed the real deal and no one could mess with them.
