What’s worse than a Joxer episode?

A Joxer and Meg episode! Ok, both of them can be fun at times, but “The Key to the Kingdom” was just awful. Then there’s the racism of the noble savage trope in “Daughter of Pomira”, and not one, but two episodes set in India but with white men playing the main characters, and so far, after an amazing season 3, season 4 of Xena (just reached 4x14, Devi) is disappointing. I mean, “A Family Affair” (though more of a conclusion to season 3) and “A Good Day” were amazing, and I enjoyed “Adventures in the Sin Trade” though I didn’t know what to make of the portrayal of shamanism, but then you expect me that Xena and Gabrielle still have the kind of petty squabbles of “If the Shoe Fits...” ?! (Well, it was an episode with Aphrodite. I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a single one of these.)

Seriously, right now I’m mostly watching because I hope it gets better. I don’t quite believe Hope is completely gone, maybe she’ll come back? I mean, I’d really love it if Callisto made a come back, but at that point she seems to be well and truly dead. So failing that, another long arc? Give me something!
