Kid In Love (Part 3)

It’s been 3 days since Shawn and I are officially together. Our friends already knew that we’re together and of course the whole school knew about it already. Our parents knew about our relationship and same as our siblings. Everything’s great, I mean I’m still not used to when Shawn calls me ‘babe’ or ‘honey’ but it’s the sweetest thing in the world. We’re inseparable, our friends and family are happy about our relationship so there’s really no drama. Except that Clarisse isn’t a fan of Shawn. She’s just overprotective since she’s the eldest and she doesn’t want me to get hurt but as what our mom would always say, ‘It’s okay to get hurt, its part of our life. What’s important is that we learn from our experiences.’ But until now she’s still not into Shawn, but she’s going home soon since Kina’s birthday is coming up. So maybe that’s a good idea to set a date so that Clarisse will know more about Shawn.

Today, I decided to go grocery shopping with Shawn and Kina decided to tag along. Since tomorrow’s Saturday and I will bake my new recipe for the house of elders which Shawn agrees to drive me there and help me give my cookies to the elders. I love this kind of set up, I love how I can be normal around Shawn, no dull moments, no judgments. Cause’ for us, all we pay attention is that we both love each other, as long as we’re not hurting other people then we’re happy.

‘Can I get a protein bars?’ Kina asked as if she’s eating a protein bars.

‘Kina, you’re not eating protein bars, you’re just going to waste it.’ I said while Shawn is pushing the cart and looking for some kisses.

‘I promise to eat it.’ She said. And I just raised an eyebrow and said no! ‘Shawn!’ She said asking Shawn to help her convince me. Since Shawn and I started dating Kina’s been so close to him, every time he visits me Kina’s always there to play with him. And he’s always willing to give everything Kina asked that’s why sometimes instead of having an alone time with Shawn, its him and Kina that are always together its either they’re playing or eating.

‘Yeah, c’mon, Ynah! Buy her that already, we’ll help you bake!’ Shawn said and winked at Kina who’s so happy because she knew that I would say yes.

‘Whatever. But just one okay?’ I said.

‘Yeah, just one!’ She said and she run at the protein bars section.

‘She’s so cute!’ Shawn said while pushing the cart.

‘You should stop always being on her side.’ I said. ‘You’re spoiling her.’

‘Nope, I don’t! But if you’re jealous because I’m spoiling her then maybe I should spoil you more.’ Shawn said with his flirtatious attitude.

‘Shut up, Mendes!’ I said. ‘We need to move faster because once we get home we’ll bake immediately.’

‘What if we go to the mall tomorrow before or after we go at the house of elders?’ Shawn suggests. I like his suggestion since for the last couple of weeks I haven’t gotten to visit any malls since we’ve been so busy. The last time I went shopping was when I’m helping Clarisse to move in at her new apartment in New York.

‘Sounds great! I like your idea!’ I said and he kissed my shoulders.

‘So before we go to the house of elders yeah?’ He asked and kissed my shoulders again and looked at me in the eyes while waiting for my answer while I look at the list of my ingredients.

‘Yeah! Sounds great.’ I said.

Then Kina came with her protein bar and she happily placed it at the cart and Shawn high five her knowing that they won.

‘What are you baking again, Ynah?’ Kina asked.

‘My new recipe, I still don’t know what to call it actually.’ I said while looking at the different kinds of chocolates.

‘Then you’re letting us taste your new recipe?’ She asked.

‘Yeah.’ I said.

‘You think we trust you, I mean to be honest what if its not good.’ Kina asked and Shawn laughed. Kina’s the most honest person I know and she’s the sassiest. Sometimes I wish that I got her attitude.

‘That’s why you guys will be the first one to taste it so that if its not good I’ll just bake my old recipe.’ I said and glared at her.

Shawn didn’t respond instead he just laughed. Kina’s been dissing me and finally we got home faster than I thought. I’m tired glaring at Kina and tired of hearing Shawn’s laugh while my little sister is bashing me. When we got home we saw dad sitting at his usual chair and reading the book that we got for him on father’s day. He loves to read but since he’s a surgeon and lots of things are happening at the hospital it took him a while to finish a book.

‘Hey dad.’ I greeted him and he close the book that he’s reading and looked at us.

‘Hey.’ He said and smiled at us.

‘what do you guys have?’ He asked.

‘Ynah’s going to bake some new recipe and I got protein bar!’ Kina said and she sat down at her usual spot. ‘She’s going to give some for the house of elders.’ She added.

‘Oh you’re going there tomorrow?’ He asked.

‘Yeah.’ I said.

Shawn came in with two bags on his hands and greeted my dad, ‘Hi Sir.’ He smiled.

‘Just call me John, Shawn.’ He said and smiled. ‘Hello to you too.’

Shawn just smiled and I excused us so that I can start baking now.

‘So what should I do?’ He asked.

‘You can sit down, I’m still trying to figure out the measurements and Dani’s gonna be here anytime soon so you can just chill in there and maybe sing a song or whatever.’ I said while figuring out the measuring cup.

‘Alright.’ He said and he sat down at the bar.

‘I like this cups!’ He said and pointed at the three cups with a palette colors.

‘Yeah. My mom used to buy us those at the Korean shop near our old house.’ I said. ‘It was for me, Cla and Kina.’

‘It’s cute.’ He said and I smiled.

‘Do you have any traditions?’ He asked. ‘I mean family traditions?’

‘Well, not really but every weekends my grandparents used to visit us and cook some Korean foods.’ I said. He just looked at me with his sad eyes because he knew how sad I am every time we talk about it.

‘We didn’t feel doing it anymore because we feel like there’s something’s missing.’ I said. ‘My mom’s presence.’ I continued. ‘But like now a days my grandparents visits us once a week to have a new tradition like watching movies or just eating out together so that Kina will still feel that even if our mom was gone, we’re still family.’

‘That’s great to hear.’ He said and he stands up and hugged me from behind.

‘I’m so lucky to have you.’ He said. ‘I love you so much.’ He kissed me on my cheeks and he’s arms are wrapped around my waist. I turned around to look at him and he’s arms are still around my hips and I looked at him in the eyes, ‘I love you more.’ I said and we kissed. It was the sweetest kiss that I don’t want to pull away, these kinds of moments are the moments that I will treasure forever.

I pulled away but then he pulled me in again to give me another kiss and I kiss back. We snatch some smacks while my dad, Kina, and Dani are not here to ruin the moment and Shawn said, ‘Okay, we need to stop your dad might see us.’ He said and we both laughed.

‘This is so delicious to be honest!’ Shawn said while chewing the cookies that I baked.

‘Really?’ I asked and went to him and hugged him.

‘Ugh!’ Dani said while looking so annoyed at our PDA. ‘But yeah it was better than your first one, right Kins?’

‘Yeah. I like this more.’ She said. ‘Can I get my small jar and get some?’ She asked.

‘Yeah, I baked a lot so you can.’ I said and smiled.

‘Alright, I’m gonna get my jar.’ Kina said and she run upstairs to get her jar.

‘You both are so annoying.’ Dani said since Shawn and I are sneaking some smacks once in a while.

‘What?’ I said as if I didn’t know anything.

‘I know that you both are so in love but please not in front of me!’ Dani said with her famous disgusted face.

‘You have a boyfriend you know how it feels.’ Shawn teased.

‘yeah right!’ She said and she just continued to eat the cookies that I baked.

After a few hours teasing each other, giving comments about my new recipe we all decided to just stay at the movie area at my house since my dad’s going to the hospital since there’s an emergency and Kina’s doing something since her best friend’s birthday is coming up and she wanted to surprise her. We stayed watching movies for an hour, I’m so happy to watch a scary movie with Shawn beside me his one arm is wrapped around my shoulders while I’m resting my head on his chest while Dani’s busy texting her boyfriend since according to her she’s so annoyed how much we show her some PDA. But I don’t care, I love Shawn so much that I wouldn’t mind someone hating on us because we’re too sweet. But this day has been the best. And each day I fell more in love with the guy who makes my world so crazy and so meaningful.
