One of the things I really love about this game is the physical realism of it. Both in the game mechanic in general (which really pulls no punched - you need to pee in real life? you need to pee in game too, babe) but also the visual details. I honestly love the bruises on Sam’s shoulders from the straps (?) of his backpack. It is such a small thing but it adds so much, at least for me. It makes Sam feel more real, it also makes him feel very human and, well, “fragile” in a sense, as humans are. He is someone who can be touched, hurt, bruised, affected in all these ways by his environment and everyday life.

Calling that to mind every time you take a shower or enjoy a hot spring starkly sets him apart from your typical action game hero, who may bleed when hit but never shows any real wounds.

I’m just. I’m sure there is a better way to say all this xD (English is not my first language) But this game is living in my brain rn. I am slightly obsessed. And it’s not my fault that there is in fact so f*cking much to see and discover.

I love how during the whole “heading West” part of the game Sam’s random dialog while out delivering was all positive and “keep going”, “you need to believe in yourself” and the likes.

And now, heading back East, it’s just different variations of “I hate my life this shit sucks” xD
