What if there was a K-pop based game? Not a Just Dance K-pop edition, but an actual game? What would the gameplay be like? Would you play or buy it? And who should be the first cover idol?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This honestly shouldn't be something I put so much thought into, and it's only scratching the surface, but there's so much material and concepts you could do with a K-pop based game. Other suggestions have already been tackled and explained tactfully, such as gameplay and Career/Story Mode, so here's a list of things and ideas I would like to see in a hypothetical game:
Cover idol:
I think if it’s not BTS or Blackpink, especially for the first game, you’d cause a huge riot. They are far and away the two most popular and recognized K-pop groups of all time, and are basically most Westerners’ gateway to the genre. It makes sense why not them, they’re currently inactive (esp. since BTS are in the military), but I’d argue that you should easily make two cover versions of the game—one with BTS, the other Blackpink. If it has to be one active idol, you could go with many options: Wonyoung, Karina, An Yujin, Yeji, Chaewon, Winter, Seulgi, Sana, Miyeon. It would be cool to have a foreign idol, but it has to be a Korean first, and I’d personally go with Wonyoung. For the Legacy/Legend Editions, I’d pick IU.
MyGM:
You could go three ways with a MyGM mode. Group based, company based, and music show based. All three will have similar gameplay elements, but have different ways and strategies to go about managing a successful group, company or music show.
MyIdol could be you as a singular group’s manager, scheduling comebacks, concerts, days-off, and so on during a calendar year. There’s a stamina/morale system to balance between working them for profit/popularity and resting them so that none of the members get disgruntled and leave or be sidelined. You’d also have to make decisions for the members’ solo opportunities, line distribution, and more.
MyCompany is larger in scale—you now run an entire company or sublabel (good luck if you’re running Cube or SM lmao). You have to manage every artist’s comebacks and schedules, or else they leave or demand a contract termination. An addition from MyIdol is the ability to sign other idols/artists/trainees on the free agent market and you can add them to existing groups or create new groups with your current roster.
MyMusicShow would basically be WWE 2K’s MyGM. You’re in charge of a music show/Korean TV station like KBS’ Music Bank or SBS’ Inkigayo and you have to compete with other networks for the best ratings of the week throughout a calendar year. You can negotiate exclusive contracts with other agencies so that their groups can only appear on your programs, as well as managing set designs/TV booking (who wins on your show)/screentime for the artists on your show.
Universe Mode:
What it says on the tin: you have control over the entire industry and decide who are the top dogs, create special collaborations, send groups on international stages, etc.
Showcase Mode:
Depends on who’s the cover idol: you basically replay some of their most iconic/legendary stages throughout their career. If it were someone like Wonyoung for example, it would include her Very Very Very performance from PD48, that one Love Dive baseball stage, K-Pop Flex 2022, her 2022 Melon Music Awards performance, and so on. You could also do one for whoever’s on the Legend/Legacy Edition cover.
Roster:
Depending on which companies are down for it, I expect all the current 4th/5th gen guys to be available from the start, while 3rd/2nd gen groups are labeled as Legends/Legacy and require some grinding to unlock (with few exceptions). Newer groups would probably be DLC or groups from prominent eras/releases (like 2018 TWICE or 2010 SNSD for example). TheLibrarian’s suggestion of having boy group/girl group only versions is also a possible option, but c’mon, if the NBA and WWE 2K games can include both their men and women’s rosters, I see no reason for the K-pop game not to do the same.
I put so much unnecessary thought into it for some reason, I even tried making concept covers of my own using my ideas and others (they're kinda bad XD). Sorry you had to read through all that.

If you were caught in a war between two vampire covens and got bitten, would you let Chaewon convert you or would she suck the venom before you get converted?

would happily let this woman nip on my neck any time of the day.
sucking the venom out through some particular way is also a feasible option

What do you think of Le sserafim’s Coachella performance? And what about the extreme hate comments and backlash surrounding the group?
Hello, zeke!
I only saw two performances, Smart and Unforgiven.
With all my honesty here, it was ok overall and not bad as the internet says. They did their best and gave their all. Coachella is a different stage than music and award shows after all. Engaging with the audience is what counts there the most.
Yet, I believe, again, with honesty, fingers should be pointed at HYBE. LSF definitely can do a stage at Coachella, but I think it was too early for them, and they should find a more suitable vocal coach for the girls because no matter what happens, people are expecting them to sing at the end of the day since itʼs their job. But like something I read earlier from Reddit, people most of the time would not care about the vocal ability of the idols if they canʼt vibe with the songs. Itʼs fair, but it would only spark for some people to think about the "privilege" a company has like HYBE possesses.
About the extereme hate comments and backlash, it all comes down from insecurities and comparison like "'X group' would do better." or "If 'Y group' was the one there, exprct them to do a better job than them." I get that seeing their faves perform there would be a huge milestone, but it doesnʼt give them the right to put extreme hate, people tend to forget that idol life is also a job, just celebrated more, and it will not be perfect. Itʼs not like LSF forced themselves to be at Coachella. Itʼs pretty simple, if they donʼt like it, just ignore it. Move on.
This would be my take about the issue. Thanks! Have a good day! :)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
My idea is a RPG/Social Sim based on being a trainee. There would be an in-depth character creator (very important), or you could have your character based off an actual idol. You interact with fellow trainees, staff, producers, etc to build up relationships and open up. You manage your time between this and different types of training, maybe we can have like Warioware-style minigames for vocal/dance/rap/production training. And then in a similar vein, performances are the "battles" of the game, where it's like training but more difficult. Finally, it could culminate in either debut or a survival show, where the battles get even more difficult, and you have to start collecting a team, maybe based on the relationships you made earlier.
I'll pick Sakura as the first cover idol. When I think of popular and influential, as well as having gone through a long journey of change and improvement, I think of her. She's been on Produce 48 obviously, so that's another connection to the survival show aspect. Plus, I could probably get her to start uploading to her Youtube channel again if she's on the cover.

Gameplay would probably be like a real life idol simulator. Like a really in depth idol simulator with realistic graphics and storyline. I would consider buying and playing it if it is the gameplay that I'm suggesting. It's hard to pick the first cover idol cuz I have one argument saying it should be an idol legend, but another argument saying it should be a current well known idol.

No contest, Express Moon by @ov105!!!
Nicely written, I love the way her character in it was built, and I almost don't mind that Yuri wasn't the first idol for this fic 😅😅 (jkjk)
Thank you for the ask! Have a Yuri!

Which K-pop idol would have you shooting like this if they were seated courtside to watch you play?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dude, she’ll have me pulling up from halfcourt on a contested fadeaway. Now whether I make it or not depends on which version of Jordan Poole I turn into lmao. Also, Lakers in 6.

dude this actlly so cool.
maybe an immersive sort of play as idol type of game but instead of singing its a rhythm game type beat with the aspects of 2k career mode like training and VC and stuff.
or maybe managing ur own entertainment like the GM mode in the 2k games or manager in the fifa games.
as for cover idol? maybe one of the IT girls/boys, seeing like a Jennie or any iconic Wonyoung pic would do it justice

You get a premium ticket to KCON, but you can only attend one day, which one would you choose?
Tumblr media
Dreamcatcher spotted on Day 2, so Day 2. I would go just for them, but also enjoy most of the other girl groups. Maybe in terms of overall enjoyment, I'd pick Day 3 between IVE, aespa, and fromis. Day 1 only really has tripleS as must watch for me even though I do appreciate the other groups there too (including ATEEZ and TXT, two of my fave boy groups in the list).

What is your least favorite thing about the K-pop industry? Aside from the obvious such as mismanagement/mistreatment and exploitation of talent, scamming of fans, and the overall toxicity surrounding the genre?
I really don't like how companies are starting to release smaller and smaller albums. Tons and tons of mini-albums and when they release the "full album", it's a lot of songs we already know and at max 5 new songs.
I get that companies have to keep the hype of the groups with releases but the full album at the end of the year just feels like a repackaging and not a new album.
I really loved how older K-pop albums had a ton of new tracks and also had a sort of story to tell or a common thread. For example, BTS's The Most Beautiful Moment in life had a sense of teenage freedom that could be felt in every song of the album.
I like what Enhypen has been doing since its debut. Every mini-album they release has a great theme that is very clear. Although, as I said, they are quite short.
One last thing and that's probably given by my lack of knowledge, but there really aren't any meaningful songs in recent times, are there? If you look up K-pop songs with meaningful lyrics, they are all songs from like 5 years ago.
Thank you for the ask, I feel like I've ranted enough lol.
