“Doctor, no offense, but this is bloody torture,” Malcolm grumbled, pushing his legs out as far as he could with a whine. Ever since that mine had pierced his leg, he’d been in sickbay constantly and undergoing physical therapy. “I hate this.”
“You might hate this now,”  Phlox replied as he marked something down on Malcolm’s chart, “but you’ll thank me when you have full mobility back.”  He put the chart to the side and reached for Malcolm’s leg, pushing his finger into the muscle to relieve some strain.  “Yes, it hurts but that’s because we’re teaching it how to be a proper leg again.”

By Denobulan standards, Phlox’s singing isn’t all that great.  By human standards, it’s fine.  Denobulans are more sensitive to slight variations in pitch and rhythm that makes listening to most untrained singers (and even some trained ones) impossible.  As such, it’s more common to read to children or recite poetry, then it is to sing.

Denobulans live an average of 300 to 500 years.  Phlox managed to hit the ripe old age of 538 before he passed in his sleep with son nearby.  He outlived all of the NX crew and had spent much of his life teaching students at the Starfleet Medical Academy.

I don't suppose I could get in your good graces?
"Where you ever in my bad graces?" Phlox asked. "I'm usually a pretty easy going Denobulan, but should you need my forgiveness, usually just asking is enough. Failing that, I do like unique specimens."

I don’t know if your time on Earth included Halloween, but it’s tradition to give sweets today. <3 Happy Halloween
“We don’t celebrate Halloween on Denobula but I’m always happy to experience human culture.  Thank you!”

firstxfherkind:
A pout crossed Elizabeth’s face. “I don’t like the tube, it feels like I’m always gonna choke.” She watches him carefully, trying to keep an eye on what he’s doing so she won’t be caught off guard by anything. Her mother strokes her hair soothingly from her spot next to the biobed. “But if I want to eat on my own, why can’t I? It’s not like that time I had the stomach bug and didn’t want to eat, this time I want to.”
“I’m afraid your illness means wanting to eat doesn’t necessarily mean you can.  If you absolutely want to try, I can get Chef to make some broth.  If you can get it down, we’ll see about getting you off the tube, hmm?”  He patted Elizabeth’s leg then went back to his PADD.  “Though I think we can start you on the immune system boosters as soon as this pathogen clears, which should mean I won’t be seeing you as often.  Won’t that be exciting?”
It was Elizabeths own stubbornness that landed her in sickbay this evening. A bad bit of the flu that had kept her in sickbay for several weeks had also landed her an NG tube due to her inability to consume anything by mouth. Though Elizabeth had been sent home a few days ago the NG tube wasnt to be removed until next week. She decided she didnt want the thing anymore she pulled it out in the bath, horrifying her mother and landing her back here. "Do I have to get another one? Can't I just eat?"
“Unfortunately,”  Phlox informed her with a kind smile, “it looks like you’ll need the tube for the next couple of days at least.  But we definitely want you able to eat on your own soon and soon you’ll be able to handle liquids.  I promise, I won’t keep you on the tube any longer then you absolutely must, hmm?”

T'Pol purses her lips and lets Phlox scan her. “I can take in plenty of fluids but I’m needed on the bridge so my normal resting hours will have to do.” T'Pol says, she’d come in for a headache not a diagnosis. “Perhaps we should alert the Captain that there is a virus going around. He likes to know these things.”
“While I agree you’re important to the bridge, you are not so important that you can’t take a day for your health.”  Phlox replied, narrowing his eyes.  “I can order you to sickbay.  And don’t worry, I’ll inform the Captain.”  It wouldn’t be that hard to send him a quick message.
"It's just a small fever." T'Pol insists. "I'm fine to return to the bridge, all I need is something for the headache." She doubts he'll send her back to her station though, and silently blamed Trip for having come to their neuropressure session sick a few days ago.
“Are you the doctor?”  Phlox asked, smiling in good nature.  “Let’s see if we can get something for you, hmm?”  He ran the tricorder over T’Pol, humming at what he saw.  “Looks like a mutated common cold strand, quite fascinating.  I believe I can give you something to offset the symptoms but I recommend rest and lots of liquids.”
