what do you major in college? Because i'm going to college next year, and I don't know what the hell im gonna do

okay okay anon, I HEAR you

so i'm an english major - literature and writing and all of that jazzy stuff. but when I first started I was a history major. but when I applied I had no idea what I wanted to major in, so I TOTALLY get where you're coming from.

I've never been a super science-y person so that eliminated like half of the programs for me oop. I chose history because I loved it in high school; but ended up switching because the two English classes I took in 1st semester were soooo much nicer than my history ones.

I totally feel you with not knowing what you want to take - hell I'm in my second year now and I have no idea some days.

a lot of the first and second year courses usually have credits that can be transferred over to another major because their electives and other intro stuff - !! that's the case at my college so idk what its like at other ones !!

honestly, when I was going through the process of deciding what I wanted to major in, I felt so much pressure because I had NO idea, and everyone just expected me to know. and anon, its okay not to know! <3 many of my friends don't know and are just doing general majors.

my advice, is to go in with something you know you liked doing throughout your previous schooling (for me it was writing/english) and choose a major based on that. the first year pretty much is about just figuring everything out. you learn a lot about what you like and don't like in those intro classes! but, keep in mind, that you can always change your mind! no one is forcing you to stick to that major, and if you find something you like better, go do that!

you don't know until you try <3 and that's the best advice I have on the topic of college majors.
