My roommate decided to sign up for the Shipwrecked Patreon for a couple months, and since she's not a podcast person and I am constantly fiending for more audio content, I'm listening to back episodes of their patron-only podcast and just telling her the most interesting bits. I've definitely learned some cool behind-the-scenes Shipwrecked stuff, but honestly the most surprising thing I've learned so far is that Sean and I share a favorite song ("I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5).

I truly did not expect that I would share a favorite song with a man who is so vocally and publicly devoted to Dave Matthews. Could have knocked me over with a feather!

The first verse of "Super Trouper" by ABBA actually says "I was sick and tired of everything / when I called you last night from Glasgow," but for some reason when I was listening to it just now I heard "I was sick and tired of everything when I called you last night from Tesco," and that is an ENTIRELY different vibe. Immediately goes from "world-weary rockstar grows tired of their jetsetting life" to "I have absolutely lost control of my life and am spiraling under florescent lights."

You children need to treat yourselves to the seminal 1995 French film The City of Lost Children (La cité des enfants perdus). It's sci-fi, it's goth, it's cyberpunk and steampunk at the same time. It has Ron Perlman, an American who does not speak French, in a lead role. It's amazing, and there's even an English dub out there if you absolutely can't handle subtitles. GO GET YOUR LIFE RIGHT.
