First project done! For Goldner's Tins, I have made myself the pencil/tool holder I desperately need for my sewing.
I didn't have access to any smooth cans, so I used what I had that seemed like a comparible size. I created the two labels myself in Word and a bit in Adobe and had to futz around with sizing to get it just right.
For the Goldner's label I wasn't going for a precise copy of the historical label, and obviously I took some liberties with the text itself. I drew some of my jokes from my secondhand knowledge of the book (which I haven't read, but got a Live Slug Reaction from @jamesjamesonfitzjames when they read it). And while I'm not going for accuracy, I did want to include the bit about a lack of zinc, as some modern scholarship points to zinc deficiency as a contributing factor to the failure of the Franklin Expedition.
Once the labels were done, I picked a paint with the help of @jamesjamesonfitzjames and @manicpixiedreamjop, got the can painted and modpodged it all together.
It turned out a little scrungly, but I'm content with it looking like a summer camp craft project lol. All that's left is to fill it halfway with beans to better hold sewing tools. I think my hemostat clamps will look strangely appropriate in this, and I'll stop losing them at the bottom of my sewing bag.

One bingo fill complete! I'll be reblogging this to add more pics of the embroidery process.
For my square "pocketwatch" I made a camera lens case with a pocketwatch embroidered on the bottom, and two lines of pocketwatch chain around the body. I used this pattern but I did have to adapt it, since I was using a much heavier fabric than the pattern called for.
As such, I couldn't reasonably join the outer section and inner lining and turn them right side-out the way most patterns call for when you're adding a lining. But I was using the finished edge of the grey flannel, so I didn't have to leave a true raw edge exposed.
The external part is heavy duck canvas with DMC embroidery thread, the inner lining is a basic pale grey flannel I had leftover from another Terror project in the works, and the cord is brown leather. The visible stitching is in black and dark blue thread, I generally tried to keep a color scheme of the natural beige-ish canvas, darker brown, medium to darker blues, and black.
The same as all my other pieces, this is done entirely by hand, and I hate doing circles or circular shapes, so it's definitely not perfect lol. But I'm happy with how it turned out, especially for my first time working with this kind of foam padding.

And I've also completed the "camera" project for my bingo! I have come at my bingo card thinking of many of the prompts in pairs, and I consider "camera" and "pocketwatch" to be a sort of set.
For "camera" I made a strap for my old SLR camera (pictured here). I feel like I took it somewhat literally, making a camera strap, but I tried to keep within the color scheme of "pocketwatch" and make a camera strap that's sort of aesthetically reminiscent of the show. Again using duck canvas and gunmetal/dark metal hardware, embroidering the rope in dark brown, and then having blue and black as the accent colors.
Again I struggled a little with the material, I used this pattern and adapted it a little as I was using a much heavier fabric. I could not for the life of me find metal hardware in a shade I liked that was the size called for in the pattern, so I sized up. Because I sized up on the hardware and webbing, I had to add these little lobster clasp bits that are pictured (and I already had the clasps). I think they turned out pretty okay for me just winging it.
I liked working with nylon webbing, and pictured is me melting the raw edges together so it won't fray. I had far too much fun with that. I still wanted the straps to be a little adjustable, which is why I went through the trouble of creating entirely new pieces to hold the lobster clasps.
Overall it's a pretty sturdy, if somewhat ugly piece, and 100% hand embroidered and sewn. I'm content with it as my "camera" bingo fill.

two fics for @theterrorbingo!
sugar on the tongue and salt in the eyes
collins/goodsir, rated m, archive warning: rape/non-con
Collins woke with sugar on his tongue, and he knew that Dr. Goodsir had been with him in the night. // for the prompt sugar.
the warmth of familiarity
sophia cracroft/jane franklin + sophia cracroft/ofc, rated m, chose not to use archive warnings (tags: consent issues, aunt/niece incest)
In winter Sophia’s cold hand slipped up into the warmth behind Jane’s knee. By the fire Jane always burned too hot, the space beneath her skirts like a kitchen in summer, and Sophia’s hands were wild animals seeking heat in the winter dark. // for the prompt opera.
