imagine if Cinder and Kai started dating before Cinder found out she was Selene. imagine Cinder was like "fuck it, okay Kai, I'll go to the ball with you" and then they started dating. and THEN after people started suspecting Emperor Kai had a girlfriend/ after they confirmed their relationship they find out Cinder is Selene. everyone (even themselves obviously) would be SHOCKED and confused by the coincidence. because what are the chances that the emperor's girlfriend just happens to be the lost lunar princess? idk I think it would he hilarious

In regards to the language talk in the fandom recently, it's good to note that the dialogue is written in English for the sake of readership, but the characters may not being speaking English.

Marissa says that universal language is a mix of English, Spanish and Chinese, probably because they're the most common languages. But in the case of dialects, Cinder and Kai could very well be speaking in a Mandarin dialect, Scarlet and Émilie in French, etc. etc.

Imagine how tiring it must be for Cinder and Kai's PR teams.

They'd spend all their time trying to make the couple look like respectable royalty and it all crumbles when Thorne posts vids of them being their normal lame selves.

I'm picturing the two of them play-fighting while playing table hockey in their pyjamas. And it makes international news.
