REDESIGN AND TIME PERIODS!

SirPentious died in - 1800 / Alastor - 1933 / Nifty - 1950s / Angel Dust - 1947

So I realized unless you told people who didn't know trough streams or wikis-they wouldn't know what time period the character is from! So here have some small stuff for redesigning here! Do research, you have no idea how fun it is to design with all the big references pulled up!!

The most obvious ones are Sir Pentious and Al.

Pen talks in an old way, not actually accurate, but you would get the point. +The Napoleon outfit by the end. +Steampunk is based on 1800-1900! Besides that, him calling the female character Miss/Missy or similar also part of it. Him imidiadlty saluting blabla

His suit doesn't match old suits and seems to be stylized the usual way all the others characters with Suits. (I know Pen wants to be hip with the kids but trowing away the idea of old clothes would be crazy to do) The entirety of the 1800s has different styles each decade too, we are focused on British late 1800s. There are fun variations of clothes too! (btw, in terms of redesign, search up for accuracy videos of people enjoy that style of clothing! Or steampunk!)

he colors can change and figures can always be exaggerated. Take this site I found while making this:

But he is Steampunk! Which is even more similar to the time period, and Pen pretty much gets a washed up version of Steampunk aesthetics. Many more fun outfits are there (for inventors too!)

Alastor is easy to tell more,' 'when' he is from. His specific way of speaking is also easy recognizable. +Radio theme.

The 30's were difficult in the USA, specially for the not 1%... to casual outfits and practical compared to years before, still stylish. + there is the place where you give attention to his Radio star and being mix person in those times affects his clothing!

Angel: He does not communicate nor 40's or Mafia (why put on those themes and not used them, I understand the idea of Angel being more modern or kicked out of his mafia family but common!) + remember the possibility of drag!

Nifty: She died in 50s (her old puddle skirt was PERFECT!) There are so many iconic Hairstyles from this decade too... She would still be a maid, but she still has a style. (I don't think you can tell when she is from, even in her acting, tho).

It does affect reality

This is why you need to be careful around topics of SA/r-pe cause you enable people like this or spread these ideas:

Coercion is r-pe. Holding someone's livelihood, money, house, job or life to have sex is absolutely disgusting. Someone using their position of power to get sexual interactions out of someone that wouldn't do that otherwise is terrible. Prostitution is not coercion unless someone forced you into it, by holding things over your head. "If you don't have sex with me, I'm going to make fire you" people belittle that because they think everyone can just magically get a work and getting coerced into that is normal.

Imagine a mom getting their monetary existence and stability destroyed cause a random man wanted to have sex with her, but she didn't want to, so he will fire her. "Do you let law force your opinions, or are you capable of thinking your self?" I think: If people can't have sex without holding something important over someone's head, they can fuck off. The laws around coercion and r-pe are really difficult. No, I do not shape opinions around the law cause there are laws that accept the killing of queer, POC people for example. But go fucking figure, holding things over people to make them fuck you is disgusting and pathetic, fuck you.

Instead of hearing a story of a victim of SA/r-pe/abuse and understanding the pain, and tactic of manipulation- people try REAL hard to debate in favor of r-pist's rights (mainly cause their cartoon character they find hot is an r-pist, and others don't like the r-pist character).

The level of dehumanization of r-pe VICTIMS is massive, people trying so hard to argue in r-pists favor is crazy to me. "You are dehumanizing r-pist" r-pist dehumanize the victims they r-pe. You can't brush that experience off, it's world breaking, it's painful. I see no point why YOUR main topic of conversation is people who are as awful and selfish as to feel entitle to force someone to give them sexual pleasure +feeling pleasure of someone who's black out- or someone screaming no. How are you so critical about "R-pist should be respected!" over talking the issues victims face? In media or real life.

Shut the fuck up- that astronomical stupid connection are you doing in your small brain- to associate r-pist to POC people? Racism maybe? Hunter is definitely in Viv's good books. Regardless how I feel on hunter cos they're definitely not a nice person from what I've seen. Its heartbreaking in general actually to see an artist so desperately needing funds to pay bills, bills that should have been able to cover from the work you do.

Spindlehorse is definitely not beating the allegations of underpaying their workers.

It's so frustrating to me that Norry acts like Valentino fans are some sort of oppressed minority within the fandom, when he's a super fucking popular character! I'm not even saying that absolutely no one has received hate for liking him, but I've personally seen WAYYYY more Stella fans being harrassed and bullied for liking her than I've seen for Valentino fans, and yet Norry seems to completely ignore that. I guess she has more sympathy for a rapist than she does for a bitchy woman. 🙄

After seeing the whole val controversy, I'm started to feel guilty for liking villains. I like bad guys because they make stories entertaining even if val isn't my favorite at all. What's the line of liking villains? Should cosplaying them considered illegal now? Or we shouldn't enjoy villains anymore. I like villains because they challenge the protagonist's morality or in some case the protagonists themselves becoming villains. It's fun seeing characters becoming the worst version of themselves, a warning to audiences that anyone is capable of doing bad if put in the right situation. I'm not trying to defend any side btw.

That wasn't the point- There are people who should feel allowed to feel uncomfy cosplaying villains (specially a one that's an r-pist). -And those people should be allowed to voice in their opinion.

There are points where you can like a character in different ways

Many villains are written greatly and real charismatic. But you do need to understand that what they do is bad, and not romantize their actions.

Many of these Val fans (for what ever reason) tried too hard to defend the rights of real life r-pists. Or say "But you like (x character that isn't a r-pist)" which I think is dumb.

We get to distance certain things in media from reality, but the closest it gets to something like r-pe or P-dophilia alot of people back off. -and I think when it comes to something like that- people should be really careful and aware to not delete the forces of their actions. I mean, in HB all the main character kills a shit ton of humans in the series, but we don't care- we worry about their personal lives and emotions as if they didn't kill innocent humans in that Verosika episode (and others). The humans they kill in the bg don't matter and are not given emotions so we don't care about heir death- in real life we do value human life (or we should!) even if people we don't know to have a sad backstory. But in media, you need to approach things like r-pe or P-dophilia more carefully and seriously. The amount of normalization of r-pe culture in real life is really big. And yes, fictions does affect reality. I do think there are levels of people having less emotions of people dying by the normalization a dehumanization of certain groups of people irl. More people would care about injustices if the media and world didn't try to dehumanize the groups of people they attack irl. If the USA didn't try hard to spread racism, xenophobia to justify their actions, a lot more people would be speaking about it more.

People need to be more sensitive, is what I'm saying.

Thing with Val hate/fans I never actually see the harassment the fans say they have, but I always see the harassment the fans have towards people who even vaguely mention they dislike val???

Also the cosplayer- like people are acting like people arent even allowed to be uncomfortable or feel unsafe around someone who cosplays a literal rapist.

like- people are even uncomfortable around other heinous villian cosplays, its not just Val. It's coz their crimes have some merit in reality, a lot of people have experience what he puts angel through, but people lack the empathy to see that this would obviously impact reality???

Okay, real talk. This shit is beyond sad and pathetic.

I have never seen a fandom react this poorly to criticism before, even the most hardcore Steven Universe, My Little Pony and Sonic fans would look at this and say "Alright, calm down. It's not that serious."

Viv's fans are incapable of accepting criticism, they see it as this negative thing that needs to be shut down because they've so used to living in a toxic echo chamber. Where nothing but blind praise and admiration is allowed.

Yes, I realize I'm talking about the lowest hanging fruit imaginable, seeing as this person likes to call everyone who criticizes Helluva Boss a homophobe. But that doesn't change the fact that a majority of people within the Hazbin/Helluva fandom cannot except any criticism that's directed at Viv or her shows.

And another thing, I love how they're claiming that the internet would be singing Blitzo's praises if he was quote "Straight and neurotypical." Completely ignoring the fact that the internet has always complained about straight male characters since its inception.

The Joker, Batman, Homer Simpson, Spider Man, and Steven Universe are just some of the examples that come to mind.

Blitzo is just a badly written character, most of the criticisms I've seen of his character have come from queer individuals. So this notion that the only people who hate Blizto's character are right wing reactionaries who whine about everything being "woke" is silly.

Because I'm a design freak, I went and color picked the pallets of each main character for comparison.

For a "fun" lil' guessing game, they are presented unlabelled and in no particular order. These pallets are so unbelievably redundant that I actually put one character twice by mistake at first, and it took me way too long to realize.

Hazbin Hotel suffers from an identity crisis where it wants to be this crude and super sexual cartoon that doesn't hold back on edgy humour while it also wants to tackle sensitive topics and be taken seriously , but it doesn't commit fully to either nor does it have any idea how to balance the two

And the end result is a story where you're supposed to be upset about an annual purge while the victims of the purge are cannibals who kill each other for lols 24/7

WHERE ARE THE WOMEN!?

I came back to or HB and I got run over with the lack of Female character content. Specially in the queer area!

We got Millie, who gets the lowest attention. See doesn't have and actual episode about her as a person. Unhappy Campers it's not an actual episode about her- it's mainly Moxxie and her dealing with it. We don't get any flashbacks in comparison to Blitz, Moxxie, and Loona. Even when Chaz it's her ex, we only get the Moxxie's part of the story. We get an episode with full focus on Bllitz, Stolas and Moxxie perspective of things in an episode, but we never follow Millie alone her self.

What we got about Millie: Good at killing (Melee weapons), supportive, Country girl, anger? Moxxie's Wife

Unhappy campers tries to give her attention but not actually doing it. She gets everyone to love her and show she can do an endless amount of tricks. But the episode concentrates in Moxxie getting insecure again. The fact they barely want to write her shows in just giving her long fighting scenes instead.

What does she do? Like, does she have her group of friends outside of her job or no? How does that make her feel? Being in your mid 20's and not really having many friends, it's quite a thing to explore. Or does she have actual friends outside of Blitz, and her husband.

How does she feel about Blitz stalking them? Cause in the pilot she just laughs it off a lot! Why? She didn't say anything about Blitz coming to Ozzies to see them. Does she actually dislike Loona or the fact she is a hellhound? Does she feel like a normal Joe underlooked, cause maybe her family with multiple kids didn't give her top attention and recognition? Probably not because they didn't write that- I imagined that, just know. Apparently she just had a 'boring' good family and that's why we don't see anything of that.

I just fill in the spaces where the is nothing to say regarding Millie with Headcanons, basically...

Loona gets written kind of back and forward. She was so nice by the end of season 1- to then beat the shit off Blitz in season 2, episode 2. And She was given the reason of "blitz did something that hurt her" when she was in the wrong for being awful to the customers in the first place and try to guilt-trip her dad. In that same episode, we get Loona's backstory for getting adopted, but from Blitz Perspective. I loved how she was with Octavia. But she backtracks into being mean to everyone. Hopefully she gets to interact with her by the end of the season!

Verosika... Where is my girl? Haven't seen her! She gets to have genuine frustrations towards Blitz, I'm happy for that. I hope they don't write her into had being the bad one for blitz to look better.

Stella, she gets written as the worst to elevate Stolas as the least bad person to justify him and Stolitz. Her view of also getting forced to marry someone as a child is never given, she gets the least out of it to- she doesn't get any book or power- she sticks to her family. I think writing her as "stupid" and also the "I love tormenting you" is so shallow. Her power as an antagonist gets killed in order to put her brother as the main danger instead.

One thing in writting I don't think it's intentional is her treatment of Striker. It does call my attention that Stolas call Blitz an Imp, and imp based names- same with disregarding Millie and Moxxie- Meanwhile Stella treats her assistant like shit and says shit if "plebeian blabla" but when she gets in the Phone with Striker to cancel the killing. She is polite and calls him darling. Which is different!

I love that Octavia gets attention, but I know she is written to also elevate Stolas as a character. -And the writting fill force her into forgiving him. Also... her relationship with her Mom? Someone? Can we explore what she thinks of imps or hellhounds compared to her parents?

Sallie May? 2 Lines in 1 episode.

Barbie? Her story dealing with her mom dying got pushed in the BG due to her deleted content. uh... get drugs from being sexual as a +30 woman to a 19 yr human. Doesn't want to deal with Blitz cool! Fizz gets more backstory with Blitz than with her...

Glitz and Glam. They show up and act like assholes to Fizz (to make him seem more vunerable and dealing with a lot). For some reason, the concept of Mammon being abusive to Fizz only matter if it towards him. Because he just let Glitz and Glam take his place, even if they were being bitches to him- that doesn't make them have to endure Mammon's treatment too. They are also over villainized as if Blitz or wasn't an ass to everyone too.

Bee is there probably for one episode due to wall Kesha and shit. She is a contradiction on her self "gluttony - over indulgance" to then "Loona your dad is drinking to much and it worries me" ??? She is there to be a party girl and tell Loona what to do.

Overall she also only get Queer content out of the male characters. There is not a single WLW thing going on anywhere here. Meanwhile most the teasing of ships and jokes is MLM (blitzXmoxxie,blitzXstriker, blitzXstolas, blitzXchaz, blitzXfizz, moxxieXstriker, moxxieXchaz, fizzXasmodeous)

The only possible WLW joke is Bee and Loona. That's it!

For a show that gets to praised for representation of the trans woman character, It's less of a secondary character just yet. And no non-binary character anywhere.

(DO NOT SAY oh but in the BG, NO I'm TALKING ACTUAL CHARACTERS IN THE SHOW-not the bg succubus or the art team putting random stuff around!)

Please don't dismiss the voices of SA victims who fundamentally disagree with you. Please raise their voices the same way you would raise others, and treat their experiences as being just as valid and worthy of discussion as the people who find Val to be completely horrid. Frankly, were you to be *against* the idea of doing that, it would communicate to me that your whole shtick isn't actually about SA victims, it's about you feeling vindicated in your personal discomfort. Yes. There are people who dislike it for justifiable reasons and they deserve to have their voices heard. But please don't ignore those that have a differing opinion, and make sweeping, general statements. If you really care about people, you would do that.

I hope you understand the reason I post so much about the topic negatively. It's because I'm a victim of SA, and I don't like much about how this was treated. Mainly negative things because: Viv didn't take anything any SA victim said that was negative-towards her own show, like always. I saw my position in the matter greatly underrepresented, and that's why I type it all here. I saw plenty of people on Twitter that took the scene as a good representation and that they felt seen- and that's always great. Everyone need to heal and fell seen. How everyone was sharing how they felt 'in a positive light'- I felt I could write how I felt 'in a negative light' cause that's just as fair.

Also, if you realized what I have types over MULTIPLE post know, I don't even talk about the inside episode 4- mostly about the surrounding treatment.

If you think Angel is relatable and healing for your or others experiences, cool. Amazing, good for you! It's not for me and others, tho, mainly for things outside the episodes or scenes of Angel - Val. I have written about the things that me and others find criticizable- like the r-pe jokes in HB or HH. Why would you try to write respectfully all of episode 4 to then to a r-pe joke to Sir Pent in episode 6? See that isn't even about Angel or Val.

My last few posts aren't even about the writing of the show. But fandom stuff mainly. I have talked about how people treat Val like an uwu baby over the actual topic of R-pe and SA. I have talked about not liking that poison was directed by a NON SA victim with a r-pe fetish, redoing his own fan ship comics inside the show. Or the many other R-pe jokes inside Helluva and Hazbin that I feel take away from the serious message from episode 4.
