PDF of Peter Brook's The Empty Space
I'd call this book essential reading for anyone interested in theatre, so they can get one influential director's (Marat/Sade, Lord of the Flies) brilliant musings.
He examines the four modes or points of view on theater: Deadly, Holy, Rough and Immediate.
Reading it radicalized my views on what theatre matters and what work doesn't deserve attention, I can't recommend this book enough.

AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY
December 14th, 2007 - Imperial Theatre
Sound: 8/10 - It was pretty easy overal to hear the dialog and follow the story without a copy of the play
Visual: 8/10 - Plenty of spotlight washout, but the following of action is good, and there are only selected times I felt things were being missed
Enjoyability: 9.5/10 - There are few better ways to spend three hours than enjoying August: Osage County.
Cast:
Deanna Dunagan (Violet Weston), Ian Barford (Little Charles), Francis Guinan (Charlie Aiken), Kimberly Guerrero (Johana Monevata), Brian Kerwin (Steve Heidebrecht), Madeleine Martin (Jean Fordham), Dennis Letts (Beverly Weston), Amy Morton (Barbara Fordham)
Notes: Includes a NY1 review and interview

BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON
October 31st, 2010 - Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre
Sound: 7/10
Visual: 7/10
Enjoyability: 8/10 - Show is fantastic, performances are pretty top notch. In this recording everything is pretty good after “I’m Not That Guy”
No complaints about this recording yet.
Cast:
Benjamin Walker, Justin Levine, Kristine Nielsen, Kate Cullen Roberts, Darren Goldstein, Jeff Hiller, Nadia Quinn, Emily Young, Ben Steinfeld, Maria Elena Ramirez, Bryce Pinkham, James Barry, Greg Hildreth, Lucas Near-Verbrugghe, Cameron Ocasio

GODSPELL
November 13th, 2011 - Circle in the Square Theatre
Sound: 9/10
Visual: 7.5/10
Enjoyability: I really enjoyed this production was a good time. Though it was missing shirtless Hunter Parrish (maybe that's why they were snubbed at the Tony's)
This recording is pretty good, as soon as "Save the People" starts. Obviously due to the circular staging, everything looks great.
Cast:
Hunter Parrish, Wallace Smith, Uzo Aduba, Nick Blaemire, Morgan James, Telly Leung, Lindsay Mendez, George Salazar, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Joaquina Kalukango (u/s Celisse)

INTO THE WOODS
July 29th, 2012 - Delacorte Theatre | Shakespeare in the Park
Sound: 8/10 - Outside, there is a lot of distracting background noise (e.g. planes, birds, insects) but the band is properly loud and vocal performances are great.
Visual: 6/10 - Plenty of spotlight washout, a lot of heads in the way, and not a great job of following the action. That said, this widescreen capture does give a sense of what the production looked like well.
Enjoyability: 7.5/10 - This was a really drastic interpretation of the show, pretty different from the original that many are familiar with. Personally I love this, and I think the production is magical, with this video being a wonderful peek into what was happening in Central Park. If it weren't for the heads in the way and constant cover-ups I'd say this would be a lot more enjoyable.
Cast:
Donna Murphy, Amy Adams, Chip Zien, Denis O'Hare, Gideon Glick, Jessie Mueller, Sarah Stiles, Ellen Harvey, Ivan Hernandez, Josh Lamon, Laura Shoop, Tess Soltau, Kristine Zbornik, Jack Broderick, Eric Williams as (u/s) Rapunzel's Prince, Glenn Close
Notes: The video starts at Little Red's entrance in the prologue.

MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG
February 9th, 2012 - NY City Center | Encores Series
Sound: 7/10 - Mostly fine, can hear almost every line, but it isn't perfect.
Visual: 8/10 - Action is followed well, and there's plenty of spotlight washout, it's a concert setting so there's not too much visuality to focus on.
Enjoyability: 8/10 - As my first experience of the show, I enjoyed this recording and production a lot. There were definitely some moments that felt weak and dull, but the score has many many moments to shine.
Cast:
Colin Donnell, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Elizabeth Stanley, Betsy Wolfe, Adam Gruper, Whit Baldwin, Rachel Coloff, Ben Crawford, Joshua Delia Crus, Bernard Dotson, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Marja Harmon, Leah Horowitz, Mylinda Hull, Michael X. Martin
Notes: The video includes interviews and rehearsal footage.

THE NORMAL HEART
April 19th, 2011 - John Golden Theatre
Sound: 8/10
Visual: 8/10
Enjoyablilty: 9/10 - An amazing production, with a great cast that does not disappoint at all. I watched this video while following dialogue with a copy of the play to catch any lines that were difficult to understand.
I highly recommend everyone see/read this play.
Cast:
Ellen Barkin (Dr. Emma Brookner), Patrick Breen (Mickey Marcus), Mark Harelik (Ben Weeks), John Benjamin Hickey (Felix Turner), Luke MacFarlane (Craig Donner/Grady), Joe Mantello (Ned Weeks), Lee Pace (Bruce Niles), Jim Parsons (Tommy Boatwright), Richard Topol (Hiram Keebler/Examining Doctor) & Wayne Alan Wilcox (David)
Notes: First preview performance. Also includes NY1 and other related press videos for the production.

SPRING AWAKENING
January 18th, 2009 - Euguene O’Neil Theatre
Sound: 8/10
Visual: 8/10 - When there isn’t a cover-up
Enjoyability: The video starts in the middle of the first scene, with numerous cover-ups which is a little annoying. The crowd is absolutely crazy, but quite understandably. Still this is a really enjoyable recording of one of my favorite shows.
Cast:
Hunter Parrish (Melchior), Alexandra Socha (Wendla), Gerard Canonico (Moritz), Amanda Castanos (Martha), Blake Daniel (Ernst), Matt Doyle (Hanschen), Andrew Durand (Georg), Christine Estabrook (Adult Woman), Glenn Fleshler (Adult Man), Emma Hunton (Ilse), Emily Kinney (Anna), Caitlin Kinnunen (Thea), Gabriel Violett (Otto), Morgan Karr, Alice Lee, Eryn Murman, Zach Reiner-Harris.
Notes: Closing night & only known video of Hunter Parrish as Melchior

SWEENEY TODD
October 29th, 2005 - Eugene O'Neill Theatre
Sound: 8/10
Visual: 8/10
Enjoyability: 8 - Good capture with nice close-ups and proper sound. The staging of this production is amazing, and the talent is top-notch. This recording is very enjoyable, and a decent archive of the performance
Cast:
Michael Cerveris, Patti LuPone, Donna Lynne Champlin, Manoel Felciano, Alexander Gemignani, John Arbo, Diana Dimarzio, Benjamin Magnuson, Lauren Molina

tick, tick...BOOM!
September 18th, 2001 - Jane Street Theater
Sound: 8/10 - Things are pretty audible
Visual: 7.5/10 - A little bit a generational loss, the recording is pretty old, but the filmer did a decent job over heads and adjustments
Enjoyability: 8/10 - This is a must see for any RENT fans, and the writing is so good, the performances are brilliant. Watching the recording was pretty awesome, and a fun time.
Cast:
Raúl Esparza, Amy Spanger and Jerry Dixon
Notes: Includes a bunch of interviews and other clips of tick, tick..BOOM songs.
