Blood Moon
Tsukibrosweek Day 8: “Moongazing”
Rating: Blood and tears *gasp*
So I got up today at 4 am to watch the blood moon and since it wouldn’t have been worth it to go back to bed afterwards, I sat down and finished my tsukibros drabble for the final prompt of the tsukibrosweek. :3

TsukiBrosWeek 8: Moongazing
“Hey Kei, wake up! I want to show you something.”
Kei was roused from his sleep by the gentle shaking of his shoulder. What time it was he had not a clue as his bed time was earlier than the rest of his family.
“What?” He asked rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and sitting up. The six year old yawned and sleepily took the offered glasses from his brother.
“There’s a harvest moon!” Akiteru said, sitting down on the bed and wrapping Kei up in his dinosaur patterned blanket, hauling him easily into his arms.
“Harvest moon?” Kei asked stringing his arms around his brothers neck and laying his head on Akiteru’s shoulder. He was still small enough that Akiteru could carry him but soon he’d be to big for this kind of thing.
“It’s also known as a ‘blood moon’ or more commonly, a lunar eclipse,“ Akiteru explained as they made their way downstairs. Kei nodded and curled up more into his brother. "Blood moon” sounded kind of scary. Would it look all red like blood? Or would it look like the moon did in those horror films but the color of blood? Would it be completely black?
The rest of the house was dark save for the light over the stove. Kei could hear his parents out on the porch chatting quietly.
“Did you manage to pull him out of bed, Akiteru?” Kei heard his father ask, his mother giggling in response.
“Yup,” Akiteru said, taking a seat between their parents and situating Kei comfortably in his lap.
Kei glanced up at the sky.
“Can you see it?” Akiteru asked, pointing to where the moon stood obscured by the earth’s shadow. Kei’s eyes widened in awe. He wasn’t expecting it to look so dim. It was almost as if the moon’s light had been stolen. It looked haunting and yet Kei couldn’t tear his eyes away.
“Is the moon going to stay like that?” He asked, shivering slightly as a cool breeze blew past them.
“No,” his mother answered gently stroking his blonde curls, “it’ll only look like that for a little while.”
“It looks sick,” Kei replied.
“I guess it kind of does” Akiteru commented, “but you know what? It’ll get better, just watch. The moon is resilient, just like you!”
"I’m not the moon,” Kei mumbled, squirming a bit on Akiteru’s lap to get the blanket wrapped around him more. His brother only laughed and ruffled his hair.
Kei sat silently with his family, listening to their chatter and watching the moon pass through the eclipse. He can’t recall when he fell asleep, or when Akiteru carried him back up to his room and tucked him in bed. All he can remember is the sharp sliver of light and the twinkle of stars as he dreamt of the cosmos, the sun and the stars.

Day 7 gone and past
The last day of Tsukibros Week has arrived!
How did you enjoy today? Did you celebrate Kei’s birthday? One of the admins here went to a local Moon Festival to celebrate!
Are you excited about the lunar eclipse in a few hours? Unfortunately for one of the admins, it’ll already be morning by the time it happens. But if you’re able to see it wherever you are be sure to watch! How exciting, a Harvest Moon AND a lunar eclipse!
The eighth, and final prompt is “Moongazing.”
Bright against the dark sky, the moon acts as a shining guide within the night. It comes in many phases but none more beautiful to look at than the Full Moon, where it’s roundest and brightest.
Reminder that this prompt also collides with the second day of akiteruweek with a similar prompt, so be sure to tag your entries as both #tsukibrosweek and #akiteruweek
Happy participating!

TsukiBrosWeek 7: Growing Up (Happy Birthday, Kei!)
Some things stay the same, and some things will ultimately change, that is what it means to grow up. Regardless of what happens, somethings will never change.
(Sorry for the lack of Akiteru in this one, but I figured he’s the one holding the cake! Also, I’m pretty sure Akiteru is the only one Kei would cry in front of… maybe. ^_^ )

The Other Side of the Moon
For tsukibrosweek day 5; a rare sight
Rating: T Word Count: 2k+ Summary: When Tsukishima Kei woke up one friday morning, he knew something was off. Apparently it’s completely possible to wake up in your brother’s body. Tags: Body Swap AU, embarrassing tattoos, pure fucking crack I’m not even sorry
I wrote the end part while hungover as shit so it’s a little rushed. Also when I say “Akiteru said” or “Kei scowled”, it’s them in the other brother’s body (ex. Akiteru said ___ is actually Kei’s body but Aki’s mind/soul speaking)

Day 6 over and out
Wow, only 2 more days left!
The seventh prompt is “Growing Up (Bonus: Happy Birthday, Tsukishima Kei)”
From the moment we’re born we never stop growing. Growing up, growing out, maturing, changing in both body and mind. The experiences we go through help shape us to the person we are today.
Also reminder that this day collides with the first day akiteruweek with a similar prompt, so it’s very okay to admit the one entry for both weeks so long as you tag it as both #tsukibrosweek and #akiteruweek
Happy participating!

Tsukibros Week - Day Five: A Rare Sight
It surprised Akiteru, the way Kei turned to him laughing in the middle of their conversation. It had been so long since he’d seen Kei smile like that, years even, so to see it again so suddenly after all that time stunned him, knowing he had missed it but not realizing exactly how much.
Kei had never seen his brother so speechless before, he usually always knew what to say and his charisma gave him an air of confidence that he always knew what he was doing. To see him so off-guard caught Kei off-guard too and the air between them somehow quickly became awkward, both of them embarrassed.
They silently vow to never speak of this moment again (but Akiteru secretly hopes that Kei will one day smile at him like that again.)
ahahahahaha what a sad thing that kei’s happiest smiles are so rare, even back when he was a kid the only one who really saw them was akiteru. i hope he smiles like that again in canon soon.

TsukiBrosWeek 5: A Rare Sight
He found it while cleaning his room, the cast of dinosaur footprints stowed carefully away in a box beneath his bed. It had been a present from Akiteru on Kei’s 6th birthday and, while Kei knew it wasn’t a real cast, his six year old self didn’t care in the least.
“It’s you and me, Nii-chan!"
Ever since he was young Kei was captivated by dinosaurs. They were these strange and exciting creatures that had roamed the earth and were nothing like any animal that lived now. He could remember when he and Akiteru would play in the back garden, using the dead branches cut from the cherry blossom tree as dinosaur bones. They would bury them in the dirt and pretend that it was the dig site of rarest dinosaur ever to be discovered.
He could remember the times Akiteru would take him to the museum and he’d spend hours in the dinosaur exhibit, staring in awe at the fossilized bones and teeth. Kei especially liked the almost complete skeleton of the stegosaurus. It gave him perspective on how big these animals really were. They weren’t fantasy, like sprites or elves, they were real.
Kei smiled and brushed a hand fondly over the cast before placing it back into the box. Pushing it safely back under his bed he wondered if there was anything else he would discover in his lifetime. And if, like the bones of a dinosaur, it would leave its mark on the world.
