"Dream!"
His name fell from his friend's mouth as it always did — loud and cheery. Dream couldn't help the way he laughed as he turned to face his approaching friends. George and Sapnap had been gone for two days, assigned with the task of going into town to restock their supplies. (Dream himself would have gone along, but, well…he had a feeling that it wouldn't have been safe. But, of course, the closer to Sempia they get, the more risk there is.)
"Hey, did you guys get the weapons we needed?" Dream greeted, taking the sack George handed to him.
"No, we just came back with none of the shit we left for." Dream glared at Sapnap for the response, the blaze hybrid baring his teeth in response. Dream only blinked at the steam that rose from his friend's clenched teeth.
"We got most of it, though I couldn't find a vendor with enough axes, so we've got a few stone ones instead," George answered, rummaging through his personal bag. Dream nodded, setting the bag he had been handed down on a nearby workbench. He watched Sapnap collapse on his bed, straight beside Dream and George's bed.
"Where's everyone else, like Bad, Skeppy?" Dream squinted at their front door -- he couldn't see any shadows through their windows, and Skeppy's loud voice wasn't seeping through the walls, either.
"They went down with the rest of our squadron to fill up their goatskins at the river bank." Sapnap's response was muffled by the pillow he had stuffed his face in, but Dream nodded in response regardless.
"You ready for tomorrow, Dream?" George asked, settling on his own bed. Dream heaved a sigh, facing away from his two friends. Truthfully, he was unsure -- it had been so long since he had stepped foot in the territory he had called home.
"Yeah. We'll end their reign on the rest of the Empire...for good." Dream rumbled. After all, the fight itself did not scare him - he had spent years studying battle-axe combat and an even amount of time perfecting his skills outside of an academic setting.
And it wasn't like they were going to invade the capital -- George and Bad had located a newly formed village on the southern skirts of the Kingdom. They've heard word of Sempia's weapons development residing there, and the plan was as solid as it could get when planning an invasion-esque battle.
Still, this attack would serve two purposes - disarming the Kingdom nicknamed the Titan of Industry and declaring total war against the rapidly expanding Empire.
Dream couldn't shake the feeling of unease despite all of the facts. He had spent years avoiding setting foot on Sempia soil, and doing so voluntarily, despite the context, made his skill crawl.
He'd fight through it, though. For the Bad Lands and for Kinoko Kingdom, both whose borders have faced massacres at the hands of Sempia's battalions. He had to.
literally a day late to the party but i have strong feelings about the tubbo lore today!!! very cool!!!! really really REALLY happy with the happenings of the stream and all of them did such a good job *weeps*
id: a drawn comic. in the first panel, c!tubbo and his son michael sit at a table. michael is holding a crayon and has other crayons in front of him, as well as a scribbled drawing. tubbo holds a pencil and is writing blueprints. he looks tired and sad. michael asks, “bee?” tubbo responds, “yeah, bud?” michael says, “i miss boo.” tubbo says, “I miss him too, mike.” michael asks “where did he go?” tubbo says, “um, i’m not sure.” the next panel shows a sandy beach, with someone’s feet, implied to be ranboo’s, resting by the waves. a lone speech bubble from tubbo on the frame reads, “somewhere warm, i hope.” end id.
Tommy: You wouldn’t have been exiled because I made you the president. Not Tubbo.
Wilbur: Well, yes, but I wouldn’t have stood for Dream’s shit, whilst Tubbo- Tubbo did stand for it, y’know.
Tommy: None of [Tommy's exile] would’ve happened if you had stayed president.
Wilbur: Sorry?
Tommy: None of that would’ve happened if you didn’t break down and blow up L’Manberg.
This is from the Meet the latest resurrected gentleman from L'Manburg stream.
I've seen several posts that argue that Exile wouldn't have happened if Wilbur had been alive -- c!Wilbur agrees with that sentiment. In his head, he would have fought Dream or left with Tommy. But the thing is that Tommy also knows it.
And Tommy has been angry about it for a long time.
It's not a reasonable anger, but if you watch the stream, it is there. It's simmering and barely contained, and then when you hear him say this it clicks a little better. Wilbur thinks he's doing something here -- reminding Tommy how much he cared and would have at least tried to protect him. Maybe thinking it would reestablished their bond.
For Tommy it's just reopening the old wound of feeling like Wilbur had abandoned him. I think that's something Tommy tried so hard to reconcile in his head in Season 2 -- that Wilbur hadn't abandoned him, Wilbur had died -- but those embers of resentment still exist. They were there when he yelled at Ghostbur, they were there when Dream threw Wilbur in his face during the disc finale, and they were there when he saw Wilbur again and Wilbur tried to pick up right where they left off.
So now, when we hear Tommy repeat over and over that he misses feeling safe behind Wilbur, we gotta remember that it's because, in Tommy's head, none of this shit would have happened if Wilbur hadn't broke.
And underneath the fear going through Tommy as he tries to protect himself from Dream, I think that anger is still there.
