cloud and tifa’s relationship dynamic from being childhood friends to lovers, but the fact that the way they interact from teasing each other to supporting each another. tifa’s patience with cloud and cloud’s gentle speech, his adorable jealousy, his “but tifa!” and knowing each other’s ins and outs. it feels like they’re past the “i love you’s” and the phrase is just embedded with all the little actions instead.

The FFVII Ultimanias have already confirmed that Tifa is the only one in Cloud’s heart and that the both of them had mutual romantic feelings for each other for years, so anything lovey-dicey happening between Cloud and Aerith is pretty much null and void and purely fanservice like the rest of the optional cutscenes in the remake. I don’t mind others who like shipping Cloud and Aerith together, but saying that all of Cloud’s relationships are made to be vague is incorrect to say the least.

I’m answering this on a whim so feel free to hit me back because I know I could answer this better but I just felt that you contradicted yourself by saying that Cloud/Aerith relationship is null and void -> All of the Cloud relationships being vague is incorrect. I think that romance is optional in the game, which is why a lot of the “romantic” aspects are vague and have to be chosen by the players and I stand by that because at the end of the day, it’s up to gamers to decide who is their best girl/or barret and who they’d experience the romance aspect of the game with. I don’t really distinguish between the romantic and platonic, but when I say “relationships” I mean friendships as well which is indeed not vague at all because of course, Cloud’s character development is influenced by the people that he meets and becomes close with. Tifa and Aerith are both important people to Cloud even if you don’t ship one or the other, excluding all the “optional, romantic intended cutscenes” evidence. Like he genuinely cares about both of them and that isn’t vague at all. Cloud’s romantic relationships with everyone are considerably vague, his friendships are not.

If it brings you any comfort, there is an official stained glass stylized as a Station of Awakening that features Sora and Kairi sitting next to each other with Roxas and Naminé’s portraits in the background facing each other. It was made to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts and it was created by Tetsuya Nomura himself, so there’s still hope for RokuNami to be canon as SoKai or, at least, it isn’t forgotten in Nomura’s eyes. 😊

I genuinely love that optional aspect of the game as well like romance isn’t the major factor of the game, and regardless of what you pick, Cloud will still build relationships with all the “interests” in the story. Like yeah the choices are for the romance, but there are canon moments written in, non-optional moments to showcase Cloud’s growing friendships with everyone like especially in Tifa’s case, “lovers aside” Cloud will always be there for her as her childhood friend and I love that’s something that won’t change even if you romance another person.

I agree with Aerith’s “don’t fall in love with me” being so unnecessary, the build up being super romantic as well. I felt like through their entire exchange, all of the textual romance was there and I guess that was their intention to do so with all of the interests.

With Tifa’s, despite the physical contact being “oh wow! super romantic!” I felt that scene should have been canon periodt. She was hurting and needed to vent and let out all of the pain, losing her home twice and losing her comrades/Aerith. She puts on a brave face for everyone, but she’s still allowed to grieve. I wanted to comfort Tifa so bad because she needed it and knowing that Aerith was in danger, she couldn’t find the time to unwind and grieve. Cloud comforting her as a close friend/partner that understands what she is experiencing can be written as platonic. (Not that it’s a bad thing, but I don’t want ‘comforting tifa’ to be an optional thing, I just wanna take care of her and make her feel better).

They gave us super clear romantic content between Aerith/Cloud, but lowkey leave Tifa/Cloud debatable and I’m not really a fan about that.

Who knows, maybe Cloud will pay with everybody, maybe even his own life for trying to cheat death and fate. If we look at Sora, we saw the price for such things are heavy af. Maybe the fate of his dear ones is even worse than death now

I really don’t want another Kingdom Hearts 3 and I just want Sora to come back to us, periodt. Like I just don’t understand why Kingdom Hearts 3 did WHAT it did and I will never get over the disservice of Destiny Trio not going on an adventure. Sora “dying” and the timelines and ugh whatever the bigger picture or the bigger threat that Nomura was inventing like I don’t care, give Sora back to the fans and let him go home.
