Happy tenth anniversary, Danger Days! (11/22/2010)
Iâve talked about this before, but one of my favorite Danger Days memories is following the Twitter accounts when they were still active. They still exist, but I feel like itâs hard for fans to get the full effect now, since Twitter has completely changed their layout and the image hosting website that the Twitter accounts used is dead (yes, there was a time when you couldnât upload photos directly to Twitter.) The Twitter accounts were so much creepier when Twitter had the old school analog-style layout, and you could see the bizarre, unsettling images that they posted. Plus, at the time, 2019 was relatively far off in the future. It was like seeing tweets from another dimension.
Other artists have tried to replicate the âweird Twitter accountâ marketing tactic, but nothing has been as fascinating, compelling and effective as the Danger Days Twitter accounts. I think part of the reason the Twitter accounts were so great is that they all had their own personalities and motivations. It wasnât just random fake-deep bullshitâthere was actually a loose storyline if you followed along closely. I also think it was effective because it never explained anything. Ten years later, there are still so many unanswered questions with Danger Days. Weâve only gotten scraps of content, but the universe seems huge, with so much left to explore.
I also loved the gritty, retro-apocalypse, VHS aesthetic of the Twitter accounts. No other piece of Danger Days media has recaptured that (âNational Anthemâ kind of leans in that direction, but not fully.) Iâd love to see an adaption one day that revisits the analog, lo-fi world of the Twitter accounts. To this day, itâs still my favorite version of Danger Days.
Anyway, what are some of your favorite Danger Days memories? Share them in this post âŹď¸

In conclusion friends, if you take anything away from this record, please let it be the strength to be passionate.
Love what you do and who you truly are. Be willing to die for it. If you are true to yourself, you can never go wrong. And remember when life gives you lemons, MCR says start a fucking band.â
