I desperately need this to b a web comic i can keep up on
theres too many pokemon games where you play as a kid whos full of life and full of potential. there needs to be a pokemon game where you play as a college dropout who lives in a shitty apartment
AND
The fact that the professor is an Englishmen in Japan leads to me thinking the time line is a bit more advanced than people are portraying it in art though; its not really feudal japan so much as japan before/starting in the 1870s which would imply that befriending pokemon is an incredibly recent thing! and in the original anime/manga it was stated that there was some major war (world war?) where pokemon fought along side people, so omg the implications! the evolution that would take place there as well!
I’ve been waiting for someone else to bring this up about the new Pokemon game, but has any one else realized- as they fawn over the new Growlthe “variant”- that this is a retrograded Sinnoh… so they evolved away from that to what we know as the current Growlithe. Especially since Growlithe are naturally found n Sinnoh in the game and are the normal variant. also that means Stantler and Basculine LOST their evolution lines over time! hi, this is all ive been thinking about since i saw the update
Yes! This exactly! The niche changed! The game is after the previously stated split that separated humans from pokemon, but before the reharmonization fo the two where they simply live together. Take -again- Growlithe for example! In this retrograde era, they are part rock type and have that horn, it also stated that they paired up with one another and lived this way. Once you start catching them and have them be human reliant like a regular dog, they have evolved to not need the rock typing any more and are more adapted to living along side humanity!
ITS SO COOL

This adds so much intrigue to the evolution of pokemon though, because there are cave paintings in pokemon canon of pokemon that have never changed, and fair enough for the niche to have not changed therefore the pokemon needed no change, but the environment is always changing and that would change the appearance of them minorly. This sort of implies that some pokemon are in themselves "ancient types" in the same way that 6 frilled sharks are in real life. there can be new ones born, but they are still ancient type animals tgat gave not changed for millennia
