Because I'm a sucker for angst and wanted to figure out how to fit both twins into this world while still making it Tragic™️,,

First off, Var is a wizard. Undecided on in-game subclass yet, but if I ever actually write or draw anything for this version of him, he's an artificer. In-game Soren's a rogue because it fits their sneakiness, but outside the game she began apprenticing under a blacksmith, with a focus on bladed weapons. Still has his silver tongue, of course; it's not Soren without that! (no joke. she keeps failing almost every check that isn't persuasion....)

Their birth mother cast them aside for being half human; they were raised by their human father, and his eventual wife who treated them as her own despite them being half-elves. Var took an interest in magic while they were growing up. Soren was curious about his brother's spells and would encourage it even when its studies grew difficult.

Var was always cautious with magic. Soren encouraged him to push himself-

Which led to the deaths of their parents, and her. An explosion, centered on Soren; nothing left of her but the amulet she often wore around her neck, white-hot and burning its shape into the ground. Parents, with their bodies mutilated. Var's magic somewhat protected him, but his face and chest were still badly maimed.

From that point, Varkhal doesn't speak much. Probably doesn't touch magic for a very long time, stops studying it, throws out old books and sigils and amulets - and then the amulet he started wearing around his neck, the one Soren was wearing when she died, started to glow.

...And there was Soren. They looked exhausted, like they'd just been woken up from a very long sleep, and when Var reached out to touch them, there was no physical form. She gave him a tired smile, then returned to the amulet.

He doesn't fully understand it, just knows that Soren can either project themself to speak to him, but has no physical form. Or, that he can expend a tremendous amount of energy to take a physical form, often to protect Varkhal, before returning to the amulet and needing to "sleep" for weeks a time to regain his energy.

Var has once more picked up his studies. If for nothing else, than to at least free his sibling from their prison.

combat is. a struggle. and i've had little luck figuring out mods so she's stuck in whatever armors i happen to pick up and they Do Not work on her

i made Soren. they Are Not having a fun time but are being very pretty about it <3
