The days have grown shorter, the nights longer; a chill has swept across the campus. It can only mean one thing: Samhain is approaching.

In the week leading up to the sacred holiday, preparations are in full effect for the traditional Samhain celebration: wood collected for the bonfire, tents going up in the lawn around the mansion. There is an electric energy through campus, a buzz of excitement this time of year, that is contagious. 

Meanwhile, with the temporary ban of practical chaos magic still in effect on campus, the grounds have also been abuzz with conjurers looking for ways to fill their time outside of their theoretical studies. Rumors of an illicit underground battle magic club have once again made themselves quietly available to those in the know -- with the right password, you can get past the wards and access the armory on Wednesday and Sunday nights to join the ranks of those practicing forms and techniques of the long-banned discipline

And other chaos students have taken to causing trouble wherever they can: while last week the library and social hall fell victim to their vengeful hexes, this week, the forests themselves have been set with magical traps, and some of the staircases have been jinxed to disappear under the feet of unsuspecting students. Professors Chapman, Stokes, Vance, and Nam -- as well as Headmistress Crow -- have grown harsher on students practicing chaos magic in their free time, against the terms of the ban in effect. 

In fact, rumor has it that one student -- second year chaos witch Leonora Varma, who was caught attempting to hex the lock on Headmistress Crow’s office door -- has been suspended for the remainder of the semester for her breaking of the ban.

for those in the know, or those invited by current members, the battle magic club will be at 11pm on October 24 & 28. the password for the week is petrova, and can be obtained from any current member of the club

our next event will be the school-wide Samhain festival on the evening of October 31st

you can submit them at any point! we’d love to see some applications for Anemone, Hyssop, Larkspur, or Lobelia -- I’m not sure when our next acceptance date will be yet, possibly not until Sunday, but we’d be thrilled to get some applications for those open roles!

I’ve been waiting for an application for Elderflower since day one, they’re genuinely one of my absolute favourite skeleton! We loved your app so much, and it was such an interesting read! The way you wrote them really captured their spirit to me, and we both adored the way you spoke about their magic! We can’t wait to play with you! 

When she was seventeen, she sewed the dress for her inheritance ceremony as the rain beat down on the roof. The water reminded her of the storm, of the bloated bodies rasping their names to her. “You don’t have to do this,” said Mama Rolande. “The others will understand if you want to do something else with your life.”

“I’m sure,” said Octavie. “I want to help people.”

hello! I could see any of the three working for Larkspur -- though Marlon looks fairly old and so I would say if you use him, definitely go for an older (22-24) character!

I'm stuck between a few discplines for my app! Is there any you'd like to see more of?

ahh, a tough choice! I’d love to see more students for the disciplines we only have one or two characters in, so far -- Green, Fortune, and Technological only have one student at the moment and I’m sure they’d love to have some classmates, and Pattern and Hedge only have two, so any of those would be amazing! we can’t wait to see your app--

our next acceptance date will be TUESDAY, 27 NOVEMBER, with the submit box closing at 2 PM EST / 7 PM GMT. this will be the last round of acceptances before the start of our next event on Saturday, so be sure to get your application in by Tuesday or talk to us about an extension if you’d like to take part! we currently have one application for ELDERFLOWER, but we’d love to see some apps for ANEMONE and LARKSPUR as well, to get all of our roles filled for the big event!

they’re great! most of our players have full time jobs or school so it’s not flooded all the time, especially with Thanksgiving tomorrow, but it’s pretty steady.

just a quick note for our players -- it’s only been a few days and I’m absolutely obsessed with the dash and I can’t get enough of everyone’s threads! with tomorrow being American Thanksgiving, I’m sure many of our members are traveling or working extra and may be busy through the weekend with plans, so I thought I’d mention that we won’t be doing any kind of activity check until next weekend, to give everyone some space to recover from the holiday and get back into things. take it easy, if you’re celebrating, and I’ll be around the main and the dash as usual for the next few days if you have any questions or concerns!
