OOC --Considering making this an archive
Don’t get alarmed, that doesn’t mean that I’m leaving Claire.  This just means that I feel that this being a sideblog has exceeded it’s welcome.
I’ve recently learned how to get multiple accounts onto the same email address, and I don’t like the fact that I can’t follow any of my followers/rpers/awesome people.  Or like your posts... or... really, anything other than posting stuff.
So I’m thinking of shifting this into an Archive and making a new walkedthroughfireclaire as a full account.
I will make sure I get a post if/when this happens.

“THAT’S smart. And he’s right. You shouldn’t talk to me.” Peter smiled, kneeling down to look her in the eye. “But you’re right. I’m okay. How could you tell?”
Tumblr media
Claire pouted ever so slightly when he said she shouldn’t talk to him, but her face lit up again when he said that he was okay.  “Well, you’re nice.  And nice guys are always okay, right?”

AS she continued to make her case, Peter just raised a hand to stop her. “Claire. You don’t have to explain yourself to me. You don’t have to say a thing. I gave you my word that this stays between us, and it will. That’s all it takes, okay?” It wasn’t his business to begin with, and it would stay that way.
Peter only took both of her hands into his own, looking into her eyes as he contemplated her words. “It does make you brave, even if you don’t see it that way.” Giving both of her hands a squeeze, he shrugged a shoulder. “You’re also the only one I trusted to stop me, when I lost control. You were my hero, when I needed one most. Remember that, okay?” He smiled a little. “I believe in you, you know.”
Tumblr media
Claire smiled slightly when he said she didn’t have to explain herself to him, that all it took was her asking him to keep it between them.  “Thank you.”  She was so use to having to explain herself to her father, about anything and everything, that she almost didn’t know how to do anything without explaining her reasons behind it.  She was use to hiding things about herself from the general public, so the press wasn’t really an issue.  It was more the people she trusted that fell into this problem
Claire looked down to her hands when he took them into his own before looking back to him.  “I’m assuming you’re not meaning when you told me to shoot you.”  Mostly because she hadn’t followed through on that.  She couldn’t bring herself to shoot someone she had, by that point, already grown to love. She figured he was meaning after Nathan died.  “Hey, I wasn’t about to let you destroy yourself.”  She leaned in and kissed him lightly on his lips.  “I believe in you, too.”

“REALLY? Then what’s the worst one? I’m curious.” The mention of Adam, though, made the smile fade from his lips. Adam… Not a topic he wanted to broach, not with Claire. Not after everything. He just glanced away. “She’s not wrong.” As concise as that was, he left it at that.
Instead, he turned his attention back to her at the offered slip of paper, taking it without hesitation. “I wouldn’t lie to you,” he answered. “I promise, I would never lie to you.” That promise was one he didn’t extend to anybody else. Especially not his big brother.
Tumblr media
“Though sometimes I might go quiet. If people are tailing me, or trying too hard to find me, I’m going to stay far away, to keep you safe. Okay?”
Tumblr media
Claire scoffed, considering ignoring his question of what her worst alias was.  “I lived in Kansas for a while, and my dad stuck me with the name Lynnette.”  She didn’t look anything like a Lynnette.  Not even with the freckles she gave herself everyday there.  “No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t figure out how to make myself look like a country bumpkin.”  She couldn’t help but laugh at that.  It would have been quite funny if it weren’t for the fact that they were in hiding.
Claire frowned slightly in confusion when he said that his mother wasn’t wrong about that man.  That was all she got about that?  Had Peter met the man?  Had something bad happened between them?  Why was Peter so reluctant to give her more about him?  But she didn’t press it.  She knew better than that.  The last thing she wanted was for him to decide to not visit her more because she tried to force him to talk to her about things he wasn’t comfortable discussing.
Claire smiled when she heard him say he’d never lie to her.  With all the people that did lie to her, about everything these days it seemed, it felt rather refreshing to hear someone say that they promised they’d never lie to her.  “Thank you.  That means a lot to me.”
Claire took his free hand gently as her other hand put her things away.  “It’s not like I pose much of a threat to Homeland Security, Peter.  They’d only want me if they wanted to find a cure to the common cold or something.” Either that or test out biological warfare on her, but she forced herself not to mention that.  No reason to worry Peter about her more than he clearly was.

OOC -- Child Claire casting
So, I’m interested in doing some rping as a child version of Claire, I thought I’d open it up to anyone who wants to answer it:
Which of these actresses look more like a child Claire?
Elsie Fisher

…of whom I can’t really find all that many icons of…
OR
Emily Alyn Lind

…of whom I found about triple the amount I found for Elsie.

It was a bit creepy considering Claire was a girl and he was a guy (or maybe not, he didn’t know), but he got what she was talking about with the bears. He was in his own world so much that he didn’t notice her reactions as much….well, he did know she took it harder than he did when their dad went away. He could leave any of them, really, for a good reason.
He could be bitter and say all that traveling was to keep Claire safe. He never felt right about drawing attention to himself, not really. Whenever he exploded and accused her, in the aftermath–
He didn’t know, nothing changed.
“…It’s not just an adopted kid thing,” Lyle said, finally. “But yeah. Once Dad started screwing with our memories, I mean, could it really ever work out? He tried for us, I get that, but I got used to losing him. I got used to him dying, even.”
Something that their dad and Claire shared a knowledge of.
He could choke on his own anger so long like a bone that just silenced him….
“He’ll come back to you,” Lyle said. “He always does, but maybe for once it’s good that he isn’t in charge of how things go. When he gets to leave and come back.”
Now for the real question:
“What if–can I help you?”
Claire smiled slightly when Lyle said it’s not an adopted kid thing to want the love and affection of their family.  Their unified family.  For as little of a thing, that had practically controlled her life for so many years, it felt good that Lyle seemed to understand it.  It was hard for her to see which parts of her weren’t purely because of some aspect of her being so different from the rest of her family.
“To my knowledge, he only had Rene mess with your memory once, and that was right after that night Jackie Wilcox died.”  She knew their mom had had a lot more times.  But, to her knowledge, Rene never wanted to take her memories and actively defied her father when he asked him to.  “You thought I was going crazy or something when I accused Dad of having mom’s memories erased.”
She could hear the almost accusation when he said that he got used to their dad dying.  She knew the correlation.  How could she not?  It was obvious.  The only time their dad had ever come back from the dead had been because of him getting a transfusion of her blood.  “I see the whole exploding man thing and seeing me regrow all of my skin in front of you left an impression... though, definitely a more interesting way to find out your sister’s a freak then how you did it the first time.”
A small chuckle escaped her lips, followed by a nod, when he said that maybe it was good that their dad wasn’t in charge.  No matter how much she loved their dad, no matter how much she wanted to reconcile with him, she couldn’t deny there was a whole lot less drama, a whole lot less danger, surrounding her when he wasn’t involved.
His question about him helping her made her pause.  She looked to him, almost trying to figure out some ulterior motive for him to ask this.  “You really want to help your messed up big sister?”  Part of her felt as if he’d be more interested in hiding for the rest of his life from her, just because of how much her being different cost him.  “You know, he made it pretty clear that he didn’t want you or mom involved in everything.”  Though, now that she thought of it, that might have some part of why he wanted in.  Their dad had kinda made it into a little club.

“OH, Claire. Anything you tell me in confidence stays right here.” He laid his closed fist over his heart, meeting her eyes with a sincere look. “I wouldn’t tell your father, or anyone else. I promise.” She still wasn’t speaking to Noah, clearly. He didn’t comment on that - it wasn’t his place. However, he wished they could repair their rift… he knew how badly they both needed each other, and despite their falling out, he knew how deep their love went. He only wished he’d had as dedicated a father.
Tumblr media
“I can’t blame you, for the drinking. It’s a lot to take in, and there’s already too much on your plate. It’s really pretty human to do that.” He smiled a little, thinking on what he’d been like when Nathan died… what she’d seen him do. How low he’d fallen. She’d been the only one to talk some sense into him, and reserved her judgement. Who was he to do differently, if that was even something he wanted to do?
“Your ability… it doesn’t make you a victim. You’ve taken bullets to save people. You’re not a victim at all… you’re just courageous.” He pulled her closer against him, encouraging her to wind her arms tighter around him too. “You protect people. I’ve always loved that about you.”
Tumblr media
“It’s just that...”  How could Claire explain to Peter why she didn’t want him her father contacting her about that?  “It’s just that... my dad and I have a lot of issues to work out, not all of them because of him, and I understand that.  But... that’s not the conversation I want to start any attempts at reconciliation with.”  Could he understand that?  She’d be forced to wonder if her father was calling her specifically to make things better between the two of them or if it was him trying to be the worried father that typically made things worse with his own brand of overprotective antics.  It’d feel as if the call would have only happened because he heard about what she told Peter.
A small chuckle escaped Claire’s lips when Peter called it human to resort to alcohol with everything she had on her plate these days.   “You know, when... the feeling pain part of my ability started going away,” her way of saying the aftermath of Sylar taking her ability, “I started wondering if I was even human anymore.  The pain of the injuries, no matter how bad, had always been the surefire way for me to know that I was human when I was testing what I could do, and then it was just... gone....”  Where was she going with that?  Oh, right.  “I guess I’ve never really thought of emotions, and the things we do because of them, as a human thing.... More like a universal thing.  You know, cats scratch things when they’re mad, people give the silent treatment when they’re mad, Daleks kill things when they’re... well, that one is pretty much all emotions, but still.”
Claire smiled, nodding, when Peter said that her ability didn’t make her a victim.  “It doesn’t make me brave to block something when I know it can’t do much to me, Peter.  It just means that I’m... empathetic or something... even if I’m insensitive sometimes.”  Claire chuckled slightly, thinking about Peter’s ability and being an empath.  “I know I’m not a victim or anything, I do.  It’s just how I saw things at first.  I thought that, I don’t know... that it was a pretty lousy way to get a power, I can play defense, but I can’t do offense or something like that.  And then the rape happened... and then that homecoming... and then Ted blowing up the house.... And so on and so forth.  I don’t know... I made me feel like an easy target.”

“YEAH, I’d definitely slip up and forget to call you Sandra. Would feel too weird anyways, I’d just keep picturing your mom, and…. well… you’re much younger and prettier.” He attempted some humour, taking her hand and giving it an encouraging squeeze. Despite everything, he wanted her to be okay. To have a nice life, even if it was built on a false identity and lies. He didn’t know how she did it… he’d never be able to manage keeping up with it, but he was proud of her for staying safe and quiet. Of all people, he appreciated how difficult it would be for her.
“I’d like that too. Maybe we can make it a thing, every other Thursday or something, I can drop by… see how you’re doing.” He smiled for her, despite the awful scar marring his face. “But I want you to keep in touch too. If anything happens, I want you to call me first. I’ll come running, okay?”
Tumblr media
Claire laughed when he said that it’d be weird calling her Sandra, given it was her mother’s name.  “Yeah, that part’s pretty weird, but... it’s not the worst alias I’ve had.” A rather kind smile formed on her face the moment she heard him say that she was younger and prettier than her mother.  “Perpetually, too.  Your mom mentioned someone once, someone who was born with the same ability as me and was something like 500 years old and yet looked like he was in his late twenties.”  Oh, this ability was suddenly looking like a curse.  This alias thing wouldn’t stop, even if people with abilities weren’t hunted like they were.  She’d be treated like a vampire or something.  She’d have to keep running for fear of someone noticing she wasn’t aging.
An almost excited smile formed on her lips when she heard Peter speak as if he was actually willing to let them see each other more often.  She pulled out out the pad of paper she used to take orders, writing her current phone number on it before ripping it off.  She handed him the paper, smiling rather broadly.  “So I know you’re not just saying all this to see a smile on my face.”  Even in the past, Peter had a knack for telling her things purely to see her happy and, while she actually rather liked that, she wanted Peter to be the one responsible for starting their new meeting habits.  That way, she’d know for sure that they’d actually happen.

MOVING to his duffel bag, he unzipped it and started digging through it. “No. But I have my own things that you can wear.” Peter just laughed, digging out a tee shirt and tossing it to her. “We can get you something better tomorrow. Maybe we can stop off at the cheerleader uniform store. Maybe it’ll make you feel more like your old self,” he teased, moving back to her and wrapping his arms around her waist. He couldn’t keep himself far from her, needing to remind himself that she was okay, that everything was going to be okay.
Tumblr media
Claire caught the the t-shirt he tossed to her, chuckling.  She brought the tee closer to her.  It had been so long since she had anything tangible that even remotely reminded her of him.  And she was honestly rather grateful she had both options now.  Claire scoffed, hitting him with his tee, when he mentioned stopping at the cheerleader uniform store.  “There is more to me than my high school attempts at normalcy, Peter.”  But, when he wrapped his arms around her, she couldn’t help but shrink into him.  Before he had shown up, Claire had wished the story about her was true, that she hadn’t woken up after having their children.  But, now, she was downright hopeful again.  She could imagine them being happy, with their children, with no problem.  Even if her image of that had their children as infants rather than whatever age they’d quite possibly be.

“NO, I don’t think it’d work out well when you heal so quickly.” He smiled, just happy to see her again. Happy that she was doing so well. “I’d say I want to meet him… but in different times maybe. It’s safer for you if he doesn’t know about me, or any of us.” His smile faded some at the mention of his brother. “I… haven’t seen him for awhile.” Peter didn’t volunteer any more, leaving it at that.
He’d rather hear about her.
“I really have missed you.”
Tumblr media
Claire nodded sadly when she heard Peter say that he didn’t think he was safe knowing about all of them.  “Yeah, I know.”  She was terrified of when the time came to tell Andy about her ability.  She knew she loved Andy, and she knew Andy thought he loved her.  But was his love strong enough not to turn her in the moment he found out about her?  She wasn’t so certain.  He made more than one comment in the past about the people out there with abilities.  And it seemed to her that he was in support of them being rounded up or killed.  “Besides, I’m Sandra now.  He might find it odd if you came in there calling me Claire.”  It certainly wasn’t the first alias that she used.  She was just lucky that she had been able to come back to Midland after so long on the run.
Claire smiled broadly when she heard him say that he really had missed her.  “I’ve missed you, too.  I’d love to see you more... though, I figure it’d have to be behind closed doors, what with security and what not.”  Honestly, she didn’t see it happening, as much as she wanted it to.  Peter was easily her favorite family member, and that was despite the fact that he seemed to avoid her unless it was something life threatening... or when he just really missed her, apparently.
