So turns out Illari’s backstory is super interesting and incredibly dark for OW

I really like the direction they’re going with heroes like her and Mei (which explains they’re new interaction) which give the game much heavier lore and it’s why I wish they’d focus more on the talon heroes like Reaper and Moira. But I’m really looking forward to see what they do with her and who she will have connections to in the lore

Thinking about this moment because we actually see Rev panic and lose control. He’s angry, sure, but he’s also scared. And that’s what I think is mainly motivating his actions this time. He’d just regained some of his autonomy, and hadn’t even begun to process how he didn’t even know he lacked it for a couple hundred years, before his autonomy was being threatened AGAIN.

The first thing Rev voices panic at as he malfunctions is his lack of control. Pair that with him hearing the others refer to him as an “asset” and discuss what happens to him as though he’s a weapon and not a person? He loses it. Full tunnel vision. He’s cornered, and that fear of being right back where he was for hundreds of years is pushing him to lash out harder than he has before. Coupled with the rage that accompanies that? Not a good combo. He’s seeing red, determined to take down whoever’s messing with him, and act as out of control as possible to show them-and everyone else- that he is not controllable anymore.

Genji has a robotic heart.

It got taken out during one of his many surgeries, Blackwatch thought Genji would be more efficient if he was less sympathetic, less emotional, less altruistic, less human. More artificial. They got what they wanted for a while, a heartless killing machine, slowly Genji started to realize he was more than that. More than just a blaze of hate, more than just a tool used by others, and it was all because of Cassidy.

Cole didn't want Genji to forget how human he is, even with an artificial heart, even with his scars, even if his parts can get easily replaced, even if his blood ran cold through out his body. Cole didn't want Genji to drown in his anger, he wanted to help him up to breath. It wasn't easy trying to help, Genji was so stubborn. He's like a stray cat. Always expecting the worst of everyone, no exceptions. Too tired but never enough to be tamed. Hungry for love but scared of it.

Lucky for you Cole likes stray cats.

Cole would do this thing that made Genji's knees fall and he seemed to almost melt onto the floor, something as simple as placing his hand on Genji's chest. He mimicked this from Genji who would always listen to Cole's heartbeat when be was overwhelmed, it made him feel clam, maybe even a little more human himself in some way. Feeling the warmth of another person, listening to the another's heartbeat when yours was no longer. He never understood why Cole did it to him, he never understood why it made him so emotionally. A gesture so little had him cry for the first time in months, years. Why go out of your way to feel a heartbeat that wasn't there? It was stupid, useless.. but yet it was damn comforting. Comforting to feels another's touch, to have someone care about you, to kiss you, love you, hold you, to treat you like a human beings and not just a cold blooded machine. Genji knew this was something real he was feeling and not just something programmed into him. He liked this feeling. He liked loved Cole Cassidy
