also the way that the nimona movie showed that hate is a taught behavior?? the way that gloreth, the hero worshipped for slaying monsters, was fully accepting of nimona until her mother told her what to believe? until that generational bigotry was passed down? the way the director’s motive wasn’t even power like most evil government figureheads in media, but rather a fear of monsters destroying the kingdom because that hate had been instilled in her too, like it had in gloreth? the way ballister was also indoctrinated into hatred of “monsters” until he was just as outcast as one? because only then was he willing to change and learn?? and how even people with good hearts and good intentions like ballister and ambriosius and even the queen herself are still capable of perpetuating bigotry and unnecessary violence when they don’t take the time to understand or learn about the “others” they supposedly hate????????? i need to lie down

The Fairy's Forrest
So, during my theater class, we were having a lesson about fantasy/fairy tales, and one group presented this scene. So it's not my original story idea, but I loved it so much I had to write it. I did take some liberties regarding setting and dialogue, but the original idea isn't mine.
tw: (temporary) death of a child, control over death, murder ig but it's by magic
A little girl walks through the forrest. She marvels at the trees and the grass and the sunlight. There's a big smile on her face, and the echo of children's laughter is dampend by the sounds of birds chirping, a babbling brook, the crunch of leaves and wind rustling the plants.
The little girl finds a house. The house is wooden, overrun with plants, but looking stable and safe. Wondering who lives in this wonderful place, so far away from people, she knocks on the door.
A woman opens, surprised to see this brightly smiling little girl. "Who are you?" asks the girl.
"I am a witch, and I'm going to bewitch you!", the woman says, smirking wickedly.
"No!" the little girl says
With a wave of her wand, the witch turns the little girl into a butterfly. "Fly, little girl", she whispers, "Be free now."
Someone approaches. Their sillhouette is nimble and feminine, radiating magic. "What are you doing?", they ask. "What did you do to that little girl?"
"I turned her into a butterfly", the witch says, once again in her evil persona. That's what people expect, isn't it?
"You can't just do that!", says the someone.
"I just did.", says the witch. "I'm a witch. What are you gonna do?"
"I'm the Fairy of the Forrest", reveals the someone. "I'll banish you from my home."
"Oh", says the witch, reluctantly. "Fine, here."
The Fairy takes the wand from the witch, and taps the butterfly, which has stayed in the area to land on some tall grass.
And suddenly, there's the girl- a body, lying dead in the grass and dirt and flowers.
"What did you do!", cries the Fairy of the Forrest.
"Me? You did that!", smirks the witch.
"Silence", the Fairy decrees. "I will swap your life, for hers. You are responsible for her death, it was done by your magic. By my magic, I will take your lifeforce, and let the innocent girl live again."
The witch has no time to protest- the Fairy has taken her life.
The little girl gasps awake. How did she get to the forrest? She frowns at the little house in front of her. The place is falling apart, barely held together by the vines and bushes that climb it. It seems eery. She gets up, walking away from it. The frown falls off the little girl's face, wondering at the marvels of the forrest. A bird chirps. She chrips back. Sunlight slithers through the leaves of the trees. The little girl looks up, squinting. She smiles.

Ssshhhhhhhhhhh don't tell them
So, something I learnt the other day. So, you know how dinosaurs supposedly can't see you if you stand still? Well that myth is based on real-life lizards/etc and how eyes in general work. So, once my dad starts infodumping, here comes some other cool information. We, humans, can in fact, also not see something unless it's moving. We fixed this by having our eyes constantly shake. And then our brain compensates for us, so we don't have to have shaky vision.
What if aliens don't have this? Like. What if they find out when one of us was looking at something in the distance, and they walk around this thing that's in front of them, and the alien is confused so they bob their head and oh, there's a thing there, but how did the human know that, and then we explain and they're like, horrified.
Humans are apex predators. They can hunt in packs. They can hunt in pairs. They can hunt on their own. They're persistance predators, which is unheard of. They get stronger when they're mad or scared. They have this thing called 'body language' which acts like a type of hivemind, even if they'll claim it isn't. And. They can see you. When you're not moving. They can still see you. If you ever find yourself in a fight against a human, for whatever reason? Run. Run as fast as you can. And hope, pray if you have a religion, that they won't follow.

this is a way better model... you'll still get transphobic & intersexist drs of course but i prefer this to male / female or even having separate questions for gender & sex.
[we can't see the full form, but i'd suggest having a "something else" option and dominant hormone question too.]
