circus starter : @hiiddeneyes
“Alice!”
Oz cupped his mouth and tried to call over the crowd. No good, there were ten other men shouting at their stalls:
“Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! Ladies and gentlemen-”
“Just one more left folks! Step on in-”
Oz huffed and propped a hand on his hip. It was nice being at the circus, but Gilbert had already gotten himself lost and Alice ran headfirst into the sea of people. Well, it gave Oz the chance to wander around by himself. He peered at the shooting games and watched burly men slam a hammer down to prove their strength. Everything was interesting. Every stall had a worker shouting, lights flashing, and the looping tune of the calliope, but eventually Oz lost interest in the parading horses and the bangs of rickety machines. Drifting, he moved past the hall of mirrors to a quieter place. The outskirts of the circus tents.
A warm summer breeze broke through from the fields stretching out past the boxes and walls of the circus.
Oz almost left the area completely, when a cage flickered in the light. A person was inside. He stopped. Before he knew it, Oz was kneeling in front of them, trying to make out the shape in the dark.
“What are you doing all the way out here?”
He touched the cool iron. It was solid, thick. His brows furrowed.
“Are you.. trapped? I thought the whole cage thing was just a gimmick.”
