Scattergraph Skyline
transcript under the cut
Conditions are perfect for data collection,
so when the light pollution stirs gold into the night
we can plot our points
and get to work.
A scattergraph skyline just for you -
red lights blurred through the dead trees,
waiting for spring with the rest of us.
Did you come out here hoping
something bad would happen to you?
I think maybe you did.
Can't commit to the bit yourself, so hang it all
on a stranger's intentions. You sure know how to delegate.
The peaks and troughs tell a story, and
I'll be damned if I know what it is,
but everyone knows a downward trend when they see it.
Without a sense of direction,
your compass needle whirls like a hurricane, and
everywhere starts to look like the north you're trying to reach.
You're teetering on the edge,
waiting for the push that never comes -
hoping someone will take it off your hands.
Circling the drain until they do.
I think these points don't add up to much at all.
If you've ever wondered how long you could be gone
before someone came looking,
I give my heart to you entirely
If you've ever gone looking,
I give you the rest.
You can take better care of it
than I ever could.

Come On/Die Young
transcript under the cut
The first thing you realise is that you didn't take enough pictures -
followed, inevitably, by the thought that
you couldn'thave taken enough
if it was all you ever did.
I am haunted by that song.
“Old songs stay 'til the end;
sad songs remind me of friends.”
It's January again. I'm sitting on the sheets
and remembering that the light
used to fall on your face like snow. Holding a picture
I keep by my bed. What did you see
that you couldn't look away from
with those dark, damp eyes?
I am haunted by that song.
"Would you stop me
if I tried to stop you?"
It is very likely I can't save anyone, but that's no reason not to try.
Come on now. Let's get back to it. Wipe
the dirt off your knees and pick the gravel out
piece by piece. You know how this goes by now.
Someone will kiss it better, and
I'll clean it up if you'll let me. I
am haunted by that song.
"And the way it is,
I could leave it all."
One more year without you:
same as all the others, and infinitely worse.
Save me a seat, ma cherie. I'll see you when I get there.
Don't hold it against me if I take my time.

i like to pretend i already died and asked god to send me back to earth so i can swim in lakes again and see mountains and get my heart broken and love my friends and cry so hard in the bathroom and go grocery shopping 1,000 more times. and that i promised i would never forget the miracle of being here

A poem that tends to pop into your head?
'Morning Poem', by Mary Oliver (who else?)
2. One line from a song
'Standing naked in front of that hotel bathroom mirror, in her dysphoria's reflection she still saw her mother's son' - 'Paralytic States', Against Me!
3. One line from a movie
'Nostalgia! That's why you're here. You're a tourist in your own youth.' - Sickboy, Trainspotting 2
4. A word you avoid for fear of its overuse?
Struggling to think of one particularly but I avoid direct reference to sex and genitals cause it feels weird to write. Bad habit, though. I also avoid people's names but that's a stylistic choice.
5. One word that describes me (metaphorically) No explanation.-
Melancholic
