This WBN episode u can really tell that Suvi was raised with peers and friends, and Ame lived with one (1) witchy old lady in the wood.
Suvi does a lot to meet Ame with trust and communication even though she's pissed. Asking if Ame's ok and what she needs from Suvi. She's even providing small (pointy ouch) openings to talk abt what happened. There's anger, yes... but also communication and care. She wants Ame to know shes still here to support her, but that shes hurt and Goth now.
Ame on the other hand is acting like she's a kid in trouble with Suvi. She's avoidant and scrambling. She dosent ask if Suvi is okay or try to explain what she was going through... She flees into her connection with the fox. Shes in her feelings and self-pitying. She asks Suvi to yell at her (''just tell it to me'') but dosen't defend herself or offer words back.
There's no perfect way to deal with the heartache of friend fights, but Ame's tactic just seems very passive and so so lonely. For both of them.

Ursula K. Le Guin once said that “[t]o use the world well, to be able to stop wasting it and our time in it, we need to relearn our being in it.” Crucially, Nausicaä imagines a new way of being in the world by radically reframing our relation to it and our understanding of it. Instead of a desert, the inhospitable environment in Nausicaä is known as the Sea of Decay. But far from a dying and deadened milieu, the Sea of Decay is in fact brimming with life. This is hardly ironic but for a dominant binary and linear ontology around life and death. The living and the dead are not fixed in a binary but bound together in an intimate, dynamic, circling dance. Decay and regeneration are two sides of the same coin. Reflecting on when he moved to the Yanase River, Miyazaki recalls, “The river was more like a polluted ditch, filled with leeches and midge larvae. I was amazed by how noble these midges were and impressed that they would live in such a place.” The Sea of Decay, teeming with life, is arguably the site of some of the most luxuriant and resplendent imagery in all of Miyazaki’s films.

i know the creators of worlds beyond number have been clear that they're not exploring a world with our real-life social strata
but that does not exempt *us the audience* from the biases and blindspots of our real-life social strata
every time i see a post that implies that suvi is uniquely unkind or arrogant, or more annoying than either of the other PCs, or that it's the presence of ame and eursalon that influence her towards humanity, i have to wonder if the poster is projecting onto a confident Black woman
the same thing happened with laerryn. xerxes was *actively courting a destroyer god* out of grief for his love, but we had sympathy for him. laerryn went to dizzying extremes trying to save her love, and we get:
"but laerryn cast blight on the tree!" "but suvi was trying to fight orima!" yeah, aabria is an excellent player who makes internally consistent character choices that drive the plot and drama of the whole game forward. stories without conflict aren't going to keep your attention, y'all should be thanking her for telling a good story
in other words: she should not need to be sweet and humble for you to empathize or understand or refrain from public judgment of her character. she should not have to make herself smaller for you to accept her persona.
interrogate your instinct to be publicly critical of her characterization and choices - is it really coming from an honest place, or are you letting some well-established biases that we're all indoctrinated into warp your perception of what all of the PCs are doing? a good indicator: do you extend the same level of critique to all of the characters, or just the one making choices you personally don't vibe with?
it's important for us the audience to be aware of how we participate in the ecosystem of storytelling. we're not just here to consume content for our own gratification. we also have to be good, thoughtful, active listeners.

Listening to the Silt Verses is great. I feel like I'm hearing the TMA gang agonize over the harm they could cause by working for the watcher and then it cuts to the General Mills board room and the CEO is saying "We didn't quite get the profits we wanted under the Desolation last quarter so we will be switching to the Corruption. Prepare some employees for sacrifice."

"In a historic “first-of-its-kind” agreement the government of British Colombia has acknowledged the aboriginal ownership of 200 islands off the west coast of Canada.
The owners are the Haida nation, and rather than the Canadian government giving something to a First Nation, the agreement admits that the “Xhaaidlagha Gwaayaai” or the “islands at the end of world,” always belonged to them, a subtle yet powerful difference in the wording of First Nations negotiating.
BC Premier David Eby called the treaty “long overdue” and once signed, will clear the way for half a million hectares (1.3 million acres) of land to be managed by the Haida.
Postal service, shipping lanes, school and community services, private property rights, and local government jurisdiction, will all be unaffected by the agreement, which will essentially outline that the Haida decide what to do with the 200 or so islands and islets.
“We could be facing each other in a courtroom, we could have been fighting each other for years and years, but we chose a different path,” said Minister of Indigenous Relations of BC, Murray Rankin at the signing ceremony, who added that it took creativity and courage to “create a better world for our children.”
Indeed, making the agreement outside the courts of the formal treaty process reflects a vastly different way of negotiating than has been the norm for Canada.
“This agreement won’t only raise all boats here on Haida Gwaii – increase opportunity and prosperity for the Haida people and for the whole community and for the whole province – but it will also be an example and another way for nations – not just in British Columbia, but right across Canada – to have their title recognized,” said Eby.
In other words, by deciding this outside court, Eby and the province of BC hope to set a new standard for how such land title agreements are struck."
