Since I'm essentially stuck using my laptop for the foreseeable future, I'm using this as an opportunity to expand my Gen V sprite-style research, namely by using the "parts" sheets from Spriters Resource.

Past:

Raging Jaws (Water/Steel Basculegion) - Dunkleosteus, based more on modern reconstructions than the more common "shrinkwrapped" depiction that the "-Vish" fossils from Sw/Sh were based on.

Majestic Leviathan (Water/Dragon Drampa) - resembles a sea-serpent, and has a more fearsome design.

Spiral Shelter (Dark/Rock Inkay) - based on Diplomoceras, with an extremely long and twisting shell.

Raging Fists (Fighting/Fire standard!Darmanitan) - face is longer and more dinosaur-like, and it has reptilian scutes down its back.

Steel Shell (Bug/Steel Golisopod) - covered in spines, with a thicker-looking shell and a two-pronged tail; based on Ceratarges.

Future:

Iron Tomb (Ghost/Ice Cofagrigus) - a futuristic cryo-pod, with frayed cables for arms.

Iron Saucer (Fire/Flying Turtonator) - themed around flying saucers, as well as other types of retrofuturistic spaceship.

Iron Watcher (Psychic/Steel Sigilyph) - head resembles a security camera.

Iron Drone (Psychic/Flying Zen!Darmanitan) - has a pair of hover-thrusters instead of hands, and its legs are a pair of folded-in robotic claws.

Iron Claws (Bug/Dark Golisopod) - has a "police robot" thing going on, with red and blue lights on its back and radio-antennae instead of its "horns".

Blind Tumblr users: don’t get the latest iOS app update!

I just updated my tablet to the newest version of the tumblr app for iOS and it completely broke screen reader access for both VoiceOver and Spoken Content. This has happened in the past already, so I will file a support ticket and copy-paste my text from last time, but this really sucks. I sincerely hope this doesn’t affect all screen reader users, but I’m unsure how they could program this bug in a way it only affects me. If you rely on a screen reader to use the tumblr app, I’d advice to not get the latest update to be on the safe side.

When I say “completely broke access”, what I mean is that no posts on my dash or on individual blogs get read or recognized at all. No plain text, alt text, tags, etc. Note count and buttons still work though.

If you also run into this bug, here’s my advice. If anyone has something more useful, please tell me

File a support ticket and report this bug

Use the browser web version, which still works for me

Interestingly, if you save a post to your drafts and click on “edit” the post text seems to get read correctly. This might be a work-around for some people.

If you have the latest version but your screen reader didn’t break, also please tell me! I would be fascinated to know if this bug is only affecting some people

TL;DR: The latest tumblr app update for iOS made it so screen readers no longer work in the app

Faketober is here!

A refresher for those unaware: Faketober is a monthly drawing challenge, similar to other challenges such as Smaugust or Inktober. Every day you get a new drawing prompt, and you create something based on the prompt that also fits the theme of the challenge.

Faketober's theme is centred around creating Fakemon, and last month I made a custom list in advance that anyone in the Fakemon community can use!

Keep in mind there's no strict rules you have to follow. You don't have to draw every single day- you don't even need to stick to drawings. You could make sprites! Or little clay sculptures! Create stats for a Fakemon! GET CREATIVE :D
