Considering some recent developments, I might have to completely clear out my inbox and keep even more inactive than I already have been. Uh hi! I'm gonna try and be as nice as possible with this, but yandere is a harmful term used for people with obsessive love disorder and is a disgusting stereotype. I don't have obsessive love disorder myself but I know quite a few ppl who do and they have called it the term yandere disgusting and even ableist. Yandere isn't abelist, it's a trope.

It's not about people with OLD, it's more this:

I've never seen the term be applied to people with OLD, I've only seen it be used in the context of fiction or those who emulate the fictional trope of a yandere. There's even Xenogenders relating to it (yanderecoric) with 'coric' meaning it's a Xenogender relating to a trope.

In the spirit of learning more about it, though, would you mind linking me some .gov or otherwise official sites with info on it? The most I could find was sites saying it wasn't a medically recognized disorder to which I go :/

Researching this stuff is notoriously difficult- but I would like to learn more about it.

They're technically still open? I've just been super busy with the LMK Dating Sim and now the LMK AU webcomic I'm working on. The demo of the dating sim is nearing completion and I'm working on the final sprites with the team. Honestly, I'm unsure if I'll be active here again. So like do you have bpd or are you just running an entire blog romanticizing a harmful trope

Let me be clear on my boundaries: There is nothing non-con in my works, nothing that goes to the extent of harming one's friends or families, nothing that isn't very light yandere content.

People who are fans of the trope don't genuinely seek an abusive relationship, nor do they romanticize being murdered/their loved ones being murdered. If they do, then they're weirdos.

And as to your question, no. I do not have BPD. If you have your grievances that's fine, but attacking someone by snarkily asking if they have bipolar disorder/borderline personality disorder just reveals you to be ableist.

My anxiety is eating at me but is it okay for me to make a LMK AU that places my OC in Wukongs spot... I've always had a bad feeling even when making the AU that it's weird!

This is from a learning standpoint, I wanna know if I should stop this AU entirely or if I should just make a different unrelated world that has no JTTW references in it whatsoever and make entirely different cast just so I don't disrespect anyone's religions or anything!

I might just do the second option to be honest... just to be on the safe side!

So long as it's a silly AU in LMK I don't think it'd step on any toes.

I mean, it's not like you're claiming that your AU is part of the Buddhist mythological canon (so to speak) so you're Gucci.

All you'd really need is to just do some background research into Wukong's story so you can get the full mileage out of your AU :3

It'd only be weird if you were making a JTTW AU where you/an OC took Wukong's place

i hate to be the agnostic or atheist in the room but isn't the whole purpose of religion is that all religious figures are fictitious?

also isn't worship of sun wukong and his status as a religious symbol mostly denied by buddhist monks in and outside of china? isn't he more of a cultural symbol since he came from a novel?

i know he has a temple but i think that's more for daoist worship rather than buddhist

Let me point this out: It doesn't matter if you think a religion's deities or stories are fictitious, it is considered the absolute height of disrespect to say "They don't exist". You wouldn't say "God doesn't exist" to a Christian, therefore you don't say it to ANY practitioner. The point is we don't know what awaits us in the afterlife, and Buddhism pertains to what we think happens when we die, who runs the universe, how creation came about, etc.

It's part of the language to notice people use that get people confused, they call Wukong a "character" but he's very clearly a Buddha accepted as part of the pantheon. It leads people down the road of calling it all "fake", "fantasy", and "fiction" while being extremely disrespectful in the process. If Wukong's considered a fictitious character, then they're also saying Nezha, The Jade Emperor, and every other immortal is as well.

I haven't heard of anyone denying Wukong's religious symbol status, but seeing as I worship him myself (on a more casual level than my patrons, but he's still here and vibing) I'd say he's doing fine. If he's part of a pantheon of gods, especially as a Buddha, I can't see why his worship should be any lesser than worshipping the other Heavenly immortals.

As for the Daoist point, there's a lot of overlap tbh. If he's a god he can be worshipped (provided it's not in a closed religion), that's my view on it.

Wukong's technically gone through many interpretations before the book because of oral tradition! He only became a major religious figure due to the popularity of the book! :3

Because of Xuanzang's tale he started as a helpful monkey spirit/deity that helped lead the monk to India.

Then he was interpreted as a horny demon who had a wife he kidnapped, joked about his private parts and was extremely lecherous that eventually got split and turned into Bajie!

Then were were several at the time of the Ming Dynasty sequels that shipped him with Princess Iron Fan and another that gave him children (in that one it was set after the Journey where he was still a buddha!)

I think it's healthy to explore these interpretations because each journey to Buddhism is different. Some become more monastic. Some become more layman and pursue a family.

Crazy to think someone made a sequel where Wukong stole his (sworn) brother's girl and had kids with her sfkjgbdfkj that is Stone Cold :P

Each journey to Buddhism is different, yes, but I've seen it largely repeated and emphasized that celibacy plays a major factor. Immortals have been cast from Heaven for having romantic relationships, so to me it never makes sense for Wukong to be allowed to be a Buddha with a partner and biological children. I'm just explaining why I'm confused, by the way, not meaning to be argumentative-

Specifically when I look at Wukong's journey, I take into account that it was during 620+ CE when the celibate side of things was extremely strictly enforced to the point where it makes even less sense for him to pursue romance. Not only that, but in the version I read he was never tempted by any demonesses and would gladly run circles around them, so going off of that celibacy never seemed something he'd want to break...and he certainly wasn't a man-whore. That's almost scary to think about, I guess the Ming Dynasty was his Slut Arc (/silly /not serious)

I will say this, though, you might be the first person I've talked to who takes this fact from a genuinely educational stand-point (and that is a good thing I am genuinely thanking you for). The only times I've seen people refute Wukong's celibacy are when people are for some reason rabidly desperate to ship themselves with a deity while treating him like a character from a fandom, hence why I get just a weensy bit defensive over the matter of his celibacy.
