(It is not uncommon for EN to adjust dialogue that references the characters ages, also seen in Book 6 and Phantom Bride.)
Original Epel: That’s 16:00!
EN Epel: Now you’ve set it for 16:00! How’d you even get it on 24-hour time?
(Maybe it is unusual for 24-hour time to be used outside of Japan, so this line was added to explain.)
This was the cronut’s first appearance in the original game but its second appearance one EN, as cream breads were changed to cronuts back in Book 2.
Credit to Twitter's Kanna for noticing that the original game’s “White Rabbit Home Delivery” was changed to “White Rabbit Deliveries” on EN, and “White Rabbit Festival” was changed to “White Rabbit Fest.”
Original Epel: Scythe Duke!!!
EN Epel: Cold One Duke!
("Scythe" becoming "Cold One," explained here!)
In the original game Deuce needed to eat one of two sides of a large mushroom, changed to bread for EN.
The original lines are a direct homage to Disney's Alice in Wonderland!
Likely removed for language limitations, the Black Bunny leader switches mid-sentence from saying "Deuce-san" to "Aniki."
Jack asks Ruggie's permission to call him "aniki" in a vignette, and Leona and Ace use it to refer to their older brothers. It is also how lower-ranking gang members refer to those above them in the hierarchy.
Character Relationship Summary Video: Malleus and Sebek! (No Book 7 spoilers)
youtube
Sebek always seems to look happiest when he is talking about or to Malleus. When Sebek declares, “I will do everything within my power to serve you" on his first day of school Malleus responds, “I…see. Then I’ll expect nothing less.”
I don't think you talk about newest content so it's fine to ignore this if you want but, yesterday I saw a theory that said something about the counting for chapters was changed on JP? And it's proof that 7 ended two updates ago, and now the game is going back to 1? Something about Ace's title? eopfkefkefj yeah this is vague I don't really get it but just if you've heard anything.
Hello hello!! Thank you for this question!
This blog typically pretends that main story content not released on EN does not exist because spoilers are the worst :<
I will do my very best to be vague but just to be safe, minor spoilers (vaguely plot related) under the cut!
I have also come across theories that maybe the story is going backwards now!
I think that is where "Book 7 ended two chapters ago" comes from: two chapters ago on JP the content of the Main Story changed from Diasomnia characters to Ignihyde characters!
While technically we are still in Book 7 of the main story, the content seems to be going in reverse order (further proven by the announcement of Rook's new card 👀), and the theory goes that now that we have "finished" with Book 7 (Diasomnia) and will be going to Book 6, Book 5, etc.!
The "counting for chapters was changed" part is maybe about what happened on JP back when Book 7 began:
Originally the different books were not separated into "chapters" on JP!
They were separated into beginnings, middles and ends, which worked okay when books were shorter.
But then in Book 5 and Book 6 we started getting sections called "Middle Part 1," "Ending Part 1," etc., which was confusing, but it meant that we could still more or less tell how far along we were in the story and when we could expect it to end.
With Book 7, everything changed!
Suddenly we no longer have a "beginning," "middle" and "end"--we have are numbered chapters. The game has broken from its own, linear, "Book 6 -> Book 7 -> Book 8" timeline, and now anything is possible!
And that is not all! We also ran out of dorm uniform cards. Dorm cards were not released until we reached the Book about the dorm in question, and then right after Diasomnia received their dorm cards, they also received Book 7-exclusive cards that seem to be related to the new titles released on both EN and JP:
Ortho's new title for Book 7 and his Cereberus Gear is, for example, Guardian of the Underworld.
The theory says new cards do not have personal stories behind them because the information that would normally be included in these cards has been woven into the main story (which has also been proven true of both Lilia and Sebek). Another part of the game that Book 7 has changed!
It seems that the new titles will each be associated with their own cards, picked up in backwards-order just like the dorm uniform cards were picked up in forwards-order.
And that brings us to Ace's title:
If this theory is true, Heartslabyul is going to be one of the last, if not the very last dorm that we visit. And Ace's new title has been taken directly from the summon line of his dorm uniform: Trump Card of Hearts 👀
But, like most theories, this one is not air-tight!
If we are truly going backwards to pick up all the new cards, then where are Malleus' "Ruler of the Abyss" and Silver's "Knight of Dreams" cards? Aren't we already in Book 6? And if we're already going into Book 5 with Rook, have we already skipped Idia's card for "King of the Underworld"? Are they skipping overblotters for some reason and saving them for later? (Silver's missing card has an entirely separate theory of its own.)
I do not know! :> But I do very much like the theory that we have technically already completed Book 7 (Book 7) content, maybe even Book 7 (Book 6) content, next will be Book 7 (Book 5) content, etc., as the game progresses! ^^ Exciting!
Idia is allowed to attend class via tablet due to receiving special permission from the headmage in exchange for securing the school’s network.
Ortho and Idia have overlapping vignettes where Ortho asks him to attend the school’s opening ceremonies with him so that they can make new memories together with Ortho as he is now.
Idia agrees in order to make Ortho happy, but he struggles on the day of the event, managing to leave his room but detouring to the school’s courtyard before he reaches the Mirror Chamber.
Malleus unknowingly insults Idia (“I simply cannot understand the meaningless things humans do at times”), who flees to his room in a panic. (“No matter how hard I grind, I’m locked into the evil route with every bad ending ever and there’s nothing I can do about it!”)
Ortho witnesses the entire incident (though he does not know what was said), following Idia back to the dorm where Idia is attempting to convince himself that Ortho is better off without him: “I wasn’t born with worth and talent like other people, like Mr. Malleus. How’d I forget that?…I’m sure Ortho’s having a great time at orientation all by himself.”
Ortho reaches Idia’s room and apologizes for his selfishness, saying that they can hang out in Idia’s room like they always do, instead.

[you may have already done this but i cant find anything] could you perhaps compile a list of what the other characters call yuu / mc?
Hello hello! Thank you for this question :> Certainly! The students refer to the prefect in the same way that they refer to all the other first years!
Exceptions: Cater refers to Ortho, Epel, Lilia, Sebek and the prefect with "-chan," while using "-kun" with everyone else.
Much in the way Jade sometimes refers to Epel and Ortho with the "-san" honorific (while usually using "-kun" with first-year students), Jade uses "-san" with the prefect (and Grim).
Idia is, by his own admission, scared of people in general, and he seems to particularly dislike it when people pay attention to him.
Idia says that he feels a lot better when his face is hidden by a helmet or mask and that the mask he wears over his eyes during Glorious Masquerade is like a life preserver in a loud sea of people.
He refuses to remove his Halloween costume helmet even to eat during the Halloween event, saying that it is the main reason he is able to keep his cool around the crowds.
Idia has a lot of dialogue about being an introvert, hating crowded places and smalltalk.
Idia does not appreciate being approached about his plans for his fourth year, saying, “So you’re just gonna casually pry into my very personal future plans, huh?”
When Trey says he doesn't need to get defensive Idia responds, “Then maybe don’t talk to me in the first place.”
When Epel encourages him to join a Harveston party Idia says, “Sitting at a table with a bunch of complete strangers? I only need to imagine it to know it would be torture…just run along and enjoy your vapid little party.” (Epel: “That’s kind of a rude way to put it.”)
Idia also has several lines about being certain that people talking and laughing about him behind his back, which might actually be a thing that happens: Ortho says that Idia “usually just rolls his eyes when people make fun of him.”
Idia seems particularly insecure about people making fun of his hair and commenting on his lineage.
We see Idia shift to speaking through his tablet mid-conversation in at least eight instances with Jade, Kalim, Ruggie, Epel, Sebek, Vil, Cater and Epel’s grandmother.
He explains that he is “really not into talking face to face,” but he might be able to manage it over a boardgame.
Sebek refers to all first-year students by their first names with no honorifics.
Sebek generally refers to second-year students as "first-name-senpai" (when he is not referring to them as "human").
(It is possible that Sebek has not yet referred to Floyd or Kalim by name as of this post.)
Exception: Silver is Silver.
Sebek typically will not differentiate between beast-people, mermaids and humanoids when yelling about humans, but this does not seem to be out of ignorance: he calls Floyd "mermaid" during Vargas Camp.
Sebek will typically refer to third-year students as "first-name-senpai."
Exceptions: Lilia is "Lilia-sama" and Malleus is either "Malleus-sama" or "waka-sama."
When Grim tries referring to Malleus as "waka-sama" in a vignette Sebek declares, "Only his vassals may call him waka-sama! That's the great Malleus Draconia-sama to you!"
Hi! Thank you so much for all your hard work compiling these posts for us! I would like to ask, is there a compilation of information regarding the MC/ Yuu? I'm referring to stuff like where they get their money from or any random details mentioned about themselves/ their home (Eg in the new White rabbit fest we find out that they can play the bugle of all things??) We know things like how their home is modelled off of earth with halloween and football but is there more information about themselves/ their personality? Just curious
Hello hello!! Thank you for this question!
Concerning the bugle: the prefect's ability to play instruments varies by dialogue option ^^
The same situation arises in Harveston!
Depending upon which option you go with the prefect can be either an accomplished bugle-player and/or flautist or just as poor at instruments as everybody else, and neither option seems to have any impact on the story ^^
The game-prefect is possibly being kept an empty slate on purpose!
This might actually be easier for EN, where things like personal pronouns (watashi/ore/boku/etc) are all "I" and anata/kimi/omae/etc are all "you," while which you opt to use in Japanese can portray a lot of information about yourself and your relationship to the person with whom you are speaking.
(It is very interesting that you mention football! In the second novel Yuuya asks Crewel if Spelldrive is similar to soccer or football and, while he is familiar with soccer, Crewel says that he has never heard of football before.)

In Book 6 there was the revelation that the monsters that appear behind overblotting mages, Phantoms, enable the mages to use magic beyond their normal reserves because they feed on blot filled with the practitioner’s darkest emotions.
“And once the mage exhausts the last of their reserves…their job as an incubator is finished...the caster is gone, leaving only a monster that’s driven by hunger and negative emotions.”
Idia says that, at that point, either the Arcane Response Unit slays the phantom or they are brought to the Island of Woe for research.
(“Though I’ve heard of ultra-rare cases where they manage to blend in with dire beasts and other wildlife and hide in the mountains.”)
Ortho reveals that STYX is primarily focuses on ways to safely and effectively utilize blot, to Vil’s surprise. Idia explains, “People call blot a ‘waste product,’ but we consider it a valuable energy source. And we gotta recycle where we can, right?”
Idia says that Tartarus holds 10,000 phantoms, but plenty of them fade away over timer time, while others are so powerful that they have not faded event the slightest after 1,000 years of containment.
There is more to blot that what the general public has been told: “It’s a cascading effect that stretches back years.”
Azul asks who issued the order for the five NRC overblotters to be brought in to STYX, and Ortho interrupts, saying that it is confidential information. “Let’s just say that in addition to the agents STYX deploys worldwide, we have a global network of informants.”
Later, Idia reveals that he doesn’t actually know who put in the request for the examination of the five NRC students: “It was an anonymous tip via the Land of Dawning government channels, and it was totally untraceable…could someone be inducing overblots on PURPOSE…?”
Do the other members of Diasomnia (besides the main cast ones) know that Silver is Lilia's son?
Hello hello!! Thank you for this great question!
Due to the limitations of the visual-novel medium it can be difficult to tell who is listening in on what conversations. To be 100% certain that Silver has referred to Lilia as "father" in front of another member of Diasomnia I tried to find Silver doing so while on-screen with at least one unnamed student--and failed!
We get several examples of Silver saying "father" in the Diasomnia lounge, but it is exclusively during scenes when Sebek, Malleus and/or Lilia himself are the only ones there.
This is not really proof either way: maybe he is comfortable saying it there because, even if he is overheard, everyone in Diasomnia already knows.
But maybe it's because they are alone in the lounge (all four are unusually sensitive to their surroundings), and he does not do so when there are other Diasomnia students in hearing range.
There is an interesting exchange during Phantom Bride where Silver corrects himself to say "Lilia-senpai," only to say "Father" later on, both times being when he is in the lounge.
But the first time he was interacting with an unspecified member of the Phantom Bride party while later he was presumably alone with Malleus: no other Diasomnia student ever appears on screen to prove otherwise.
I think the closest we ever come to Silver saying "father" in front of unnamed Diasomnia students is Halloween!
Except, right before he does so...
...they all scatter in different directions.
It is directly afterwards that he refers to Lilia as "father," but the new arrangements are difficult to visualize: are he and Lilia hiding out alone together?
They are spying on Magicam Monsters so it is also likely that they are speaking in whispers, thus making it impossible for anyone else in Diasomnia to overhear them.
Spoiler-free conclusion: We might not have any proof of Silver ever calling Lilia "Father" in front of any background students, Diasomnia or otherwise, so it is possible that he is hiding it from everyone equally :>
If you do not mind a small Book-7 spoiler:
EN will learn in the next installment that Lilia told Silver not to call him "Father" at school, "to avoid confusing the other students."
He does not specify "the students outside of Diasomnia," so it might be safe to assume that it was being kept secret from everyone, including their own dorm!
"Since the anime release of the (Kuroshitsuji) Boarding School Arc people have been asking me, 'Are you just really into Twisted Wonderland these days?' And I laugh.
I am actually the original concept creator and main scenario creator for Twisted Wonderland!
If it weren't for the boarding school arc (of Kuroshitsuji) I don't think I would be as familiar with Western-style dorm life as I am, and Twisted Wonderland might have turned out a little differently. (Toboso)”
"Since the boarding school arc started more than 10 years ago, I think I was simultaneously doing production on Twst and doing Skate-Leading Stars work while the Green Witch Arc ~ Blue Cult Arc were being serialized, maybe?
A lot of times I found myself saved by the sheer amount of materials about overseas boarding schools I just happened to have on hand. (Toboso)"
We get some hints from Idia about how his future was pre-determined by his birth, telling Azul that he will never need a resume and telling Ortho to throw away internship invitations that he receives.
In Book 6 Idia explains that he never asked for the job of acting director that was thrust upon him and his fate was set from the moment he was born: if he were to refuse the Watchman role and the Phantoms sealed in Tartarus ever escaped the world would descend into chaos, which would “definitely be a bad time for gaming.”
Idia explains, “I’ve got no IRL hopes or dreams as it is. It’d be the absolute worst if I lost my escapism on top of everything else. That, and I wouldn’t have the guts to push reset on the save data my ancestors have grinded levels in for generations.”
In Book 7 we learn that Idia received an informal internship with Olympus Inc., which he picked because they are an NRC affiliate, though he’d actually intended to turn down all the offers he’d received in Book 5.
Cater asks, “the number one hardest company to get a job at?!" and Idia confirms, saying, “I’ll be working as a software engineer at their head office in the Kingdom of Heroes.”
Short Translation from Twst the 2nd novel: Ruggie in the Cafeteria(pt4/4)
"‘You mean they have good teamwork?’ Yuuya recalls an earlier conversation with Ace. ‘Is it because Savanaclaw has so many beast-people?’
‘Well, Savanaclaw has a lot of people like us, too. I think it’s just how the dorm is. It’s 'cause they’ve got the most athletes. That’s why they’re so good at Spelldrive.’
'Now that you mention it, that came up in class this morning, too.’
Savanaclaw is based on the indomitable spirit of the 'King of Beasts,’ one of the Great Seven. And, true to that spirit, its residents all seem strong and proud of their dorm.
‘You talk Savanaclaw, you’re talkin’ a tournament-winning dorm. They’ve got a ton of athletes who have gone pro after being scouted at competitions.’
Deuce furrows his brow. ‘But last year, the dorm that won was…’
‘Exactly. That’s what caused the fight this morning. For the past two years, the winner’s been Diasomnia. If you’d watched the broadcast of the tournament last year, you’d know that.’
‘Ah.’ Deuce blinks. ‘Yeah, I can see why that’d end up in a fight.’
‘Right? Savanaclaw is probably gettin’ real tense with the tournament coming up again. It’s probably best to steer clear of them right now.’
It seems that Diasomnia has been dominating at Spelldrive in recent years. As reigning champions, Savanaclaw must see them as rivals. Now understanding the root of the quarrel from this morning, Yuuya resolves to stay far away from both dorms until the tournament ends.
‘The Spelldrive tournament…’ The raging Grim finally collapses forward onto the table. ‘I can’t be in the tournament, and then this happened to my deluxe menchi katsu sandwich…nothin’ good ever happens to me! This is the worst day of my life!’
Grim buries his face in his front paws, which become slick with tears and snot.
Feeling sorry for him Yuuya gingerly arranges Grim’s scattered baked goods on the table, then gently strokes his hunched back. ‘You’ve got a lot of other snacks. They all look delicious, and you can get another katsu sandwich next time. Let’s just give up for today.’
‘Grrr. Damn it…’
Yuuya offers Grim a bagel that he devours in three bites, glowering at the table. ‘This alone ain’t gonna be enough…hey, Yuu! I’m takin’ your stew!’
‘Come on now, cut it out.’ Yuuya rescues his bowl in a hurry, and Grim makes a grab for Deuce’s bread.
'Stop it! I don’t have anything to do with this!’
‘Man, we’d better eat before Grim inhales everything.’ Ace swallows his bread whole without chewing. While he’d probably planned enjoy it at his leisure, in the end he couldn’t even taste it. In a cacophony of noise and the blink of an eye, lunchtime is over."
