Hi, It’s been 500 years

Hello my friends, I have been very inactive on this account for a very long time. Now that I have some mental bandwidth I wanted to come back and say hello and give an update.  I have been in a sort of chronic stress situation related to my employer for some years now, but ESPECIALLY for the past year. In January it all sort of hit the fan and accelerated. Now I’ve been laid off and I’m OVERJOYED about it holy cow. I feel SO MUCH BETTER and I’m immediately so much healthier gone from that place.  I have also been cultivating a new brand and style since August 2022 over at @Absolutecreaturevibes on Instagram. (Link below)  I’m really excited and energized about this and I think it’s a huge leap forward in my personal journey as an artist. Now that I am no longer working directly for an employer, I’m going to start an art business of my own and create merch from my art to sell!   https://www.instagram.com/absolutecreaturevibes/  I can’t say for sure if I’ll become frequently active on this account anymore because I’m going to be far more focused on AbsoluteCreatureVibes. BUUT any time I have a hankering to draw Rune Factory or other fictional crush based fanart this is for sure where I’ll put it lol. So I’ll keep this account active for that purpose. :3   (I’m sure sooner or later I’ll have a sudden urge to draw Bado again. It’s in my DNA by now)  I hope you’re all doing well. Whenever you followed me or found my art be it recently, or 10 years ago, thank you for being here <3  -Yve

Pokemon Scarlet thoughts!!

I have been thoroughly enjoying Pokemon Scarlet, bugs and all.

The new Pokemon designs are a bit all over the place but several of them are suuuper appealing to me and I was thrilled there are SO MANY new Pokemon to encounter in the world!

The main story chapter you are given in the Paldean Crater Zone in the middle of the map was incredibly well realized and probably the most emotionally gripping story I've ever experienced in a Pokemon game. I wish there was some element of that excellent writing in the intro/tutorial phase of the game to hook the player. Maybe if the writing was less generic in the beginning more folks would be motivated to stick with it despite the bugginess.

A lot of the unpolishedness in the game is obvious due to it being in the visual category. Choppy shadows, low LOD animations and models really close to the camera, lack of adequate camera collision etc etc. Unfortunately these become EXTRA obvious and distracting when they're right next to really beautiful art assets like the terastilizing special effects which look absolutely gorgeous! It's really too bad that the places where they reached and delivered something amazing (certain tracks in the OST as well!!) Get overshadowed by the obvious bits that are falling short.

Some of the bugs are hilarious and endearing. My face keeps getting stuck in different expressions and it makes the close up shots while catching raid Pokemon extremely funny.

It's absolutely satisfying and fun to run around in the world once you've unlocked all the mobility upgrades and just vibe while you enjoy the space and look for shinies or hatch eggs or whatever else.

Several of the npc characters have some nice meat on the bone story wise and that's always great to see. A character I hated on first meeting later became one of my favorites so that is worth something I'd say

If you're frustrated and boycotting the game because it was released in a buggy unpolished state, you're totally valid and your stance is completely understandable. As a consumer you gotta choose what's worth your dollar and hopefully those choices help guide the producers of these products to better standards.

I for one have been having a great time with the game and hope the next entry in the mainline game carries forward and iterates on this new open world format. I think it's a great step for the series.
