I think how I feel about D&D is a bit like how I feel about hatsune miku. they're both fine for what they're built for, and I do enjoy both (miku more than D&D these days), but they're both overhyped to the exclusion of others of their kind as the Face Of The Thing. I understand the ignorance of individuals, but as a broader trend it makes me sad.

I talk about TTRPGs, people ask "oh, like D&D?" I talk about vocal synths/vocaloids, people ask "oh, like hatsune miku?"

there are other TTRPGs out there. there are other vocal synths out there. and they're good for other things! they're good! there's something out there that fits what you want even better than D&D/miku!
