Here’s the explanation for fellow baby witches
The Full Moon is a lunar phase associated with using your power and energy and sealing intentions that were set on the New Moon, and that we have been actively working towards during the Waxing Moon.
It is around this time that indications of my intentions should start to show (and let me tell you—they're showing. I have a date next week. I also haven't experienced my usual heart palpitations when I'm in a situation that usually gives me social anxiety. I'm still working on my communication skills though).
However, these intentions won't be fully manifested until the next time the Full Moon is in the same sign the New Moon was in when i set these intentions (which is generally around 6 months).
The Full Moon is strongest in the three days leading up to it or on the Full Moon exact. I performed these two spells on the exact date of the Full Moon at night.
You can view the affirmations I used in these spells here. For each spell I used whichever correspondences I had available to support my intentions. Jasmine can be used for love and attraction, Sage is a general cleanser to remove negative energy that may be hanging over me. I only had an unscented pillar candle, so that's what I went with. I wanted to use a physical object that could be a reminder of my affirmations, so I used my favourite perfume right now, and a necklace my closest friend gifted me. I used tarot cards that supported my intentions too, being The Lovers (for obvious reasons) and Strength for inner courage and bravery. I used colour correspondences with markers I had available, but I was originally going to use red and yellow. Finally, I used the phrase 'love is mine' as a short reminder of all of my affirmations, and a star because I literally could not think of a short appropriate phrase.
I've unfortunately packed away everything I tend to use for spell work since I'm moving houses next week, so for spellwork, I'm having to make do with what I've got, which is very little. Not even a single crystal. The only reason I have incense is because I didn't tape that box shut yet. But it's no issue, because with witchcraft you use what you have. I generally am a maximalist though so it was a little weird for me.

Here’s the explanation for fellow baby witches
The Waxing Moon is a lunar phase associated with gaining power and energy and acting on intentions that were set during the New Moon. This phase can be split up into three sections.
1. Waxing Crescent
This phase is the best time for planning and announcing what actions you need to do to accomplish your intentions. It's recommended to set to-do lists and note specific activities for the next two weeks to achieve short term goals in line with your intentions set on during the New Moon in relation to the next six months. I wrote my checklist in two parts, one focusing on overall the next two weeks during the Waxing phase and my intentions.
2. First Quarter
This phase is a reminder to take action as the moon is easily visible during the day, and become aware of any obstacles you're facing in achieving them. It's the best time to take practical steps to enforce your intentions that were set during the New Moon. Here I'll try to do something that has a direct affect on my intentions.
3. Waxing Gibbous
This phase is for refinement. If the challenges you realised during the First Quarter phase are hindering achieving your intentions, change your course. When this phase arrives, I'm going to look at my to-do list and see if any edits can be made to make them more achievable.
A lot of my moon phase activities on acting on my intentions during this 2 week period before the full moon overlap, because my romantic life and confidence go hand in hand. I still decided to separate them to distinguish between making progress in my external love life and making internal progress on my self-esteem.
So, since every 2-3 days, the moon enters a new zodiac sign, I made mini to-do lists for the associations of each sign that will also help me achieve my intentions, but more indirectly. I used the descriptions from the app 'It's just a phase' to guide my action plans, then I created more specific to-do checklist items based on my person life and what's actually achievable for me. I did keep in mind my intentions while writing these, but they're less influenced by it than the moon phase to-do list.

Note that there are discrepancies with the planetary rulings. Some signs are associated with two planets due to modern and traditional practice differences, so you may feel a disconnect with these. I've opted to write up the modern approach.
These are the traditional alternatives, in addition to what's above:

I just had the craziest experience with my tarot cards that I needed to share.
I've been talking to this guy and shamelessly wondered what would come out of me texting him tonight. I was feeling a little insecure because we haven't talked today (I'm working on that, trust me). So I pulled my deck out, shuffled, and picked the top card.
VIII Strength.
For me it felt like 'use your self control, be patient and mature, don't think you texting him equals you having control over the situation because you won't' so I figured I wouldn't text him for no reason and then stress out if he doesn't respond.
Then I still felt unfulfilled so I shuffled again, and asked what was something I needed to hear about myself right now. And let me tell you I did three riffle shuffles and a bunch of overhands, these cards were mixed. Picked up the top card, and guess what it was.
VIII Strength reversed.
'You don't feel confident and you keep questioning yourself, which is why you keep losing self control. Don't stress so much.'
And goddamn. That was the most connected I've ever felt with my tarot cards.

—————————————
Here’s the explanation for fellow baby witches
The New Moon is a lunar phase associated with starting anew, personal growth and setting new intentions. Commitment to a routine is likely to stick during a new moon.
The times I specified here are specific to my timezone (AEDT), which is why you may notice some discrepancies between other new moon posts for this month and mine. I use the app 'It's just a phase' for this.
Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love. It just so happens I'm currently expanding my romantic life, so I thought having specific intentions during the three hour period the New Moon is in Taurus would be appropriate.
Similarly, Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication. I've been doing a lot of self-work on my social anxiety issues recently, so I made intentions specific to boosting my confidence during the remainder of the first night of the New Moon in Gemini.
Intentions should be phrased in present-tense rather than future, because the idea is to convince yourself that you already are what you want to be, in basic terms.
My plan is to read these intentions every night, with particular focus on the first three nights, as that's when the energy of the New Moon extends until. In two weeks from the first night of the New Moon (4 June 2023), the Full Moon will appear, and indications of my intentions should start to show.
The Full Moon is a lunar phase associated with sealing intentions. So, to complete the intentions, Taurus and Gemini must be the sign the full moon is in. I believe in my time zone, the Full Moon is next in Taurus 29 October 2023, and Gemini 27 November 2023.

Digital Altars📱🔮
Altars are considered a key element of witchcraft for deity worship, elemental, planetary or ancestral connections, or spell work. However, they can be costly, you may not have the space for it, or you may be in the broom closet. But you don't need a physical altar, you don't even need physical tools. Digital altars are a great way to worship deities in the case you’re unable to set up a physical altar. There are heaps of alternatives if you’d like to get creative with it.
Some people doubt the integrity of digital altars, however I believe they gain metaphysical energy as they’re created, which can be used for witchcraft. Think about emoji spells for example!
Digital altars are different to digital shrines, which are similar in concept, but different in purpose. Shrines are more of a permanent honouring of a being, and they don't necessarily have to be used actively. Meanwhile altars are for active worshiping, when you’re actually giving an offering or trying to contact that deity. However, digital altars can also function as a shrine, depending on use!
Below are 19 different options for digital altars (but I'd suggest using multiple!)
Image/Collage Altars
Picrew Altar Sketch (by Camade)
This game was designed specifically for creating altars suitable for sacred spaces to perform deity worship, to connect with ancestors, and to be a witch’s working table. After saving it you can edit the picture frames to add pictures of your deity, your family or any other being. It has a lot of variability so it’s great for creating multiple altars very quickly in a consistent aesthetic.
Here’s a link to one I made the other day, using colours and imagery to suit my purpose. This is probably the easiest of the options, while also being the most versatile. However, there are limitations as you can't really make it specific to your chosen deity unless you edit the image later.
Canva / Morpholio / Photoshop
These allow for creating single image collages to set as your phone or laptop background with crystals, cardinal directions, deity images, candles, wands or any other altar tools, along with quotes, intentions and prayers. This can be as subtle or structured as you want, making it helpful for closeted witches.
You can use the collages you create for wallpapers on your laptop or phone, or you could get them printed out and stick them on your wall!
In-Game Altars
Minecraft
On Minecraft you can built entire structures as an altar or shrine, but you’re limited with decorations unless you install a mod. Mods can give you a lot of room to be creative and have a strong aesthetic. Alternatively, you can build just one room and line it with books, add an enchanting table, potions, diamond/emerald blocks, brewing stands, cauldrons and more, using the standard texture pack.
@gailcraft was kind enough to speak to me about her experiences using altars on Minecraft. She usually uses her Minecraft altars to function as a travel altar or when her physical altar hasn’t been cleansed, mainly as a visual representation of her physical altars rather than an actual workspace. When using her Minecraft altar, she generally keeps it strictly digital, writing out prayers on signs and giving in-game offerings of food and potions which correspond with the deity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see in the images she’s provided, she’s created a cottage-like structure to house her main digital altar to serve as a safe space, decorated with candles, crystals and plants inside. She has separate deity altars for Hades and Persephone, decorated with skull paintings, gold, spiders eye, crystals, flowers, a skeleton skull, lanterns and the aforementioned offerings in picture frames.
These are great altar alternatives as they don’t require much maintenance or energy, and are suitable for witches who are unable to have a physical altar or who travel a lot.
Another really cool idea for digital altars by @neonswitchhouse is to make digital spell jars by placing items in chests that may best represent your purpose, and you can specify this by writing intents on signs above the chests.
An added bonus is that you can design a skin for your avatar to look like yourself, and you can get pets like wolfs or cats.
Animal Crossing
New Horizons has so much potential for digital altars as it’s super customisable. You can dedicate an entire room in your house to witchcraft, decorating it with a glowing magic-circle flooring, candle wallpaper, candles, stonework kitchen sets, gothic mirrors, decorative bottles, cauldrons, brick ovens, pillars, stone and candle chandeliers. They also have divination sets with crystal balls, incense, bones (in the form of dinosaurs) and a whole load of other decorative options. The main issue is that collecting all of these is time-consuming unless you purchase them online. You can make offerings by placing items that correspond with your deity in your room.
There are heaps of examples of this. @spookynerdghoul has one here and @blomi-isle has one here. Alternatively @ostarasghost has a dedicated corner which you can see here.
You could also make an outdoor altar space, or multiple all around your island. You can create patterns to put on the floor as runes or sigils that correspond with your intent, if you’re looking to do spellwork or deity worship in-game. You could make offerings through art by creating patterns and placing them on stands.
There’s even a zodiac-themed item set that you can create by wishing on shooting stars. You can customise and dress up your avatar to wear cute witchy clothes too, or download outfits from their online section that other players have designed.
On my island, I have one section with a stonehenge which lines up with the full moon, as well as a separate rocky-section with some candles and a skull-hat, and a crescent moon island with a pattern of Saturn that I created, but I encourage you to go more full-out than I did!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stardew Valley
@baduhennasravensraven classifies these as shrines, but I’d like to show it as an example as a potential altar. They’ve set up multiple sheds to serve as shrines/temples for different deities! You can see images in their post here.
Like for Minecraft, you do needs mods to get the full experience, but again you can make digital spell jars by growing the plants that best represent your purpose and placing them in with items that may best represent your purpose.
Sims / Avakin
I’ve grouped these together because they’re similar, but in both you can design and decorate houses in a 3D virtual world.
Again, expansion and stuff packs are needed to use Sims to the fullest, but you can find some great ones by @simdertalia here and here, or one by @lycheesmods here. Some more of the relevant ones are the Magic School mod (fair warning: it’s Harry Potter inspired) and the Paranomal pack, where you can have ghosts as roomates and perform a séance.
Here's an example altar made on Avakin by @onixdace. I'm not that familiar with this program, but it looks similar in concept to other house-design/decoration games.
Hollowmoor
@hollowmoor-game is a steam game still in the works with a planned release in 2023. I’m not sure yet of specific ideas in using it as a digital altar, but I’m sure it’ll be great, and I’ll update this post when it does come out.
According to their page, “As a budding young Witch or Wizard you’ll need to manage your farm and explore the mystical world to gather your ingredients. Brew potions! Forge enchantments! Complete orders for the townsfolks and learn their stories! Bring magic back to Hollowmoor!”
It seems promising! I believe it’s similar in concept to Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, so I’m sure you could form a digital altar in the same way in Hollowmoor once it’s released.
Abstract Art Altars
Dream AI
[Edited 10 Dec 22] I’ve recently become aware AI art generators steal from creators online and I no longer endorse this method. Instead I recommend using art apps like CSP, playing a devotional playlist and drawing or painting what comes to mind to create an abstract piece of your own for a specific purpose. This way, in very low opacity, you can write out your intention and add images to be displayed subliminally on your altar.
Dream AI is an artificial intelligence art-creating app. You can use this to make an abstract artistic altar by typing in words like your deities name and their associations or a short prayer or intention, use the outcome as an altar by making it your phone background. You can also set a base image to inspire the art with your deity of choice, making a sort of subliminal image of that deity within the creation. This is helpful for closet witches, you can just claim you like the art the AI produced if anyone asks.
Alternatively, you can use the art as a digital offering by posting it on your tumblr altar captioned with a prayer, like @crazyskirtlady has here. Check out her page for more examples of techno witchcraft!
Mixed Media Altars
Notion
Notion is a great organisational app where you can add a mix of photos, gifs, text, embedded videos, music and playlists onto a page, making for a multi-media style altar. You can also store resource notes and links for any research you do.
@caduceussky and @arabellascraft were both kind enough to walk me through how they use their Notion altars!
@caduceussky has multiple different altars for different uses, like for deities and spirits, productivity, work-life balance, and prosperity spells that she uses in conjunction with physical altars, depending on convenience and her personal preference.
For deity/spirit work, she typically sets up her Notion altar first as a placeholder while she’s working on setting up a physical altar, then she treats it like a travel altar. She also use Notion for spell altars that have to do with work and study, since she uses her laptop for those, with separate pages set up for certain spells, sort of like digital spell jars.
For deity/spirit altars, she plays a devotional playlist while setting up the altar and adds a photo of a candle and photos of the deity/spirit or their associations like a collage. Digital offerings can go here, too, such as devotional writing or art. It can also be used as a journal to write her experiences and lessens she’s learnt from the deity/spirit.
For spell altars, she writes her intention at the top of the page, and any additional manifestations underneath. Similar to her deity/spirit altars, she includes photos of associations of the spell’s intentions, and sigils specific to the spell.
@arabellascraft uses her Notion altar for spontaneous rituals and spellwork as her physical altars are generally temporary. She meditates to her Notion altar or leaves a note, for example for gratitude.
She practices Irish folk traditions, one of which being having a moment of reflection and prayer when you first see the new moon of the month. Having her Notion altar in her pocket makes practicing this simple as it’s portable, however, one weakness is that there’s a lack of a physical connection. On the up side, the ability to embed playlists into Notion keeps her in the spiritual mindset rather than having to go back and forth in Spotify.
There’s about to be a Notion AI too, with the function of brainstorming assistance. This means you can type in something such as “What can I do to increase my mindfulness,” and a list of related answers and ideas will be produced, or “Write a poem about the God Apollo,” and the AI will generate one for you. You can join the waitlist here.
Phone App Altars
#Self-Care
This game includes a digital altar with a function to integrate your personal experiences by setting objects to a meaning, memory or realisation, like a journal. It also has organising functions to put objects away from you altar when you’re done with them and bring them back out when you’d like to display them again.
You can gain objects for your altar by performing in-game tasks like putting away laundry, fill-in-the-blank word activities with your choice of affirmations or life tips, simple puzzles, and gain tarot cards by picking a daily tarot card. You can also light a candle and type in an intention!
It does take a while to collect enough objects to display for a particular purpose, but if your digital altar is going to be your main altar, this one is a good long-term option.
The app is customisable to a certain extent with colours and designs, but some of the fancier stuff you have to pay for (like nicer backgrounds and patterns).
Here’s an image of my current altar on this app after about a week of use, along with an image of the main page.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Discord
On Discord, you can join a public server with custom categories to use as digital altars, such as this one by @homeiswherethehearthis. Alternatively, you can create a private server with chat rooms for various areas of worship and then post pictures/gifs and write prayers there.
With Discord altars, you can write messages to your deities, send them pictures, links to articles or books about them, as well as send them offerings of your creations. It’s a great way to have a massive private or shared space dedicated to your deity.
Further, you can add Discord bots that can do divination for you, as suggested by @lyresstrings in this post, such as a pendulumn bot, a daily tarot bot, or a horoscope bot. There’s even one that states the current moon phase!
Notes App
In the standard Notes app you can create folders for specific deities, and inside each folder, add notes daily, with images, links, song names and lists of correspondences to that deity. Further, you can write letters to your deity within the notes app, as well as intentions, wishes, and things you’re greatful for.
A great feature of this app is that you can actually lock your notes with a password just incase you’re worried about someone going through your digital altar.
This one is a good option to use in conjunction with a Collage altar if you make it your phone background.
Pinterest Shuffles
Pinterest Shuffles is a sister app of Pinterest, but instead of boards, it’s like scrapbooking. It’s an amazing tool for creative expression with a similar vibe to what Polyvore used to be.
The altars you can make with this are similar in concept to collage altars but the uses are specific to phones, meaning you can only make phone wallpaper images. With Shuffles, you can incorporate images directly from your Pinterest boards, which is great if you already have a deity board and want to condense it into a single image to set your wallpaper.
You can add text with intentions and prayers, or you can just use symbols of your deity of choice. I’d suggest making multiple of these, all with different intentions, so you can change your wallpaper based on what you’re asking of the deity for that day and worship on-the-go just by looking at your lock screen.
I made one as an example which you can view here. This is currently my home screen wallpaper! I added symbols of Saturn such as a clock, skeleton, herbs, capricorn, the world tarot card, the shrine of Saturn in italy, a crow, the number 3, karma, saturn-related texts, and my favourite images of Saturn.
Social Media Altars
Tumblr Blogs
This is probably the most common digital altar, mainly because of the massive witchcraft presence on Tumblr, and the ability to make multiple secondary blogs for each deity.
You can reblog general posts that remind you of your deity, images, gifs, spells, associations, prayers, emoji spells and more. However, are often considered to be more shrine-like activities. You can turn it into an altar by creating posts with digital offerings such as art and collages captioned with text spells, emoji spells, or prayers/worships (as inspired by @crazyskirtlady), or write poems for your deity.
Blogs are totally customisable, and you can change the designs with pictures, music, fonts and more. One important thing to note with secondary blogs is that you cannot initiate social functions like DMs, comments, even following and liking, and you can never change your secondary blog into a primary blog (trust me, I’ve tried. I made the mistake of making this account a secondary blog, now I can’t interact with any of you unless you reach out first).
The tagging system is a little weak though, and it can be difficult to search through all your posts and reblogs, so I suggest if there’s anything you want to keep track of, you have a separate space for it, such as on Notion.
Pinterest Boards
With Pinterest, you can create multiple boards for different deities or spirits, adding images that remind you of those beings from what others have posted. Finding inspiration is super simple! You can add images of representations of your deity, like food, clothes, crystals, art, sculptures, elements, animals, objects and more.
Instagram
In the same sense as creating a Pinterest board, you can dedicate an entire Instagram account to your deity. You don’t have to follow anyone, and can keep it on private, or you can share it publicly. You can post your offerings, photos of things you come across in every-day life like images of the sun, the ocean, trees, plants, bugs and more.
Be careful with this option, however, as you can’t just download photos from Pinterest and post them without credit. This option is more appropriate for art you’ve created yourself and documenting your experiences with captions, poems, emojis, short letters, gratitudes, and intentions.
Musical/Playlist Altars
Spotify
One post by @asatroende got me thinking about how apps like Spotify can be used as digital altars by creating playlists with songs you associate with a deity as a form of prayer. Some examples other than normal music includes subliminals, podcasts, instrumentals, and white noise sounds. If you add a short ambient candle sound in the middle of the playlist, this can aid in visualising a candle, making your prayer or offering, then it
You can add a picture of your deity as the album cover and add an intention or emoji spell in the description to customise it further. Spotify also allows you to make folders, and insert multiple playlists within those folders, which is great it you have multiple deities you’d like to make altars for.
An added bonus is that if you have a Notion altar, you can embed this playlist into it!
For my Spotify altar for Saturn, I added Sleeping At Last’s ‘Saturn’ from Atlas I, a 1:24 minute candle sound, then the planetary/space sounds recorded and posted by NASA called ‘Nasa - Saturn’. This way, I can get in the mindset, make my devotional prayer to the candle visualisation, then mediate to the sounds of Saturn for 30 minutes. I used an emoji spell as the description, and used an image of Saturn eclipsing as the cover.
Apple Music
I’m not a user of Apple Music, but I’m sure it can be used in a similar way to Spotify. If you have the free version, you can only add songs that you own to a playlists. To get around this you can use a youtube-to-mp3 converter to get ambient sounds, subliminals and more. However, this isn’t necessary, and you can just include music you own that reminds you of your chosen deity.
Virtual Reality Altars
Oculus
One last idea is if you have the technology and setup for it, you can create an altar in a VR game or space. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find any practical examples of this one.

Special thanks
I’d like to give a big thank you to @gailcraft, @caduceussky and @arabellascraft for giving me permission to talk about their personal digital altars, and for providing me with information regarding them. A further thank you to @gailcraft for providing me with images to share with you all. Go check them out!

Altars can be used for multiple purposes, for deities, patron planets, ancestors or general spirit work. Some people have one altar for everything, or separate their altars to keep these purposes separate, minimising the ‘cleansing’ you may have to do between each ritual.
Traditionally altars include tools to represent, the four elements, the cardinal directions, genders (although this is sort of being phased out), and offerings. The sub-categories of these are where you can get creative in the representations. More on that in a future post!

Here’s the explanation for fellow baby witches
In addition to wands of crystal, wands can be made of a branch from a tree. Each sign of the zodiac is associated with a particular tree, so if you’d like a want compatable with your sign, pick one of the above that lines up with your sign.
If you’re lucky enough to have these trees in your area, use a fallen branch, or ask the spirit of the tree for permission to cut a small branch (you’ll get an overwhelming positive feeling if it’s a yes).
In addition, you can use tree bark, leaves or fallen twigs/branches to decorate your altar. Each sign also corresponds with a planet, so if you have a planetary altar, you can use the correlating wood (I will post a list of these in the future and link it here).
There’s some variation online about which wood types line up with the signs, but the version I used comes from the Book of Spells by Soraya that my mum has had since forever ago for some reason. (I have a sneaking suspicion she used to dabble in witchcraft. Still not gonna tell her though). Since I used to flip through this book, I feel these correlations make sense to me.

Digital Altar: Saturn 🪐
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saturn, sixth planet from the Sun, you who revolves along a high and long orbit, you who governs ambition and authority, duty and discipline, responsibility and reality. By your name and your path, I ask you guide me through life. By your rings and your sphere, I ask you shape me to be strong. Saturn, I pray to you by your being to help me in this that I have asked of you.

New Years Tarot Spread
It's been a while since i last used my tarot deck, so i started off my giving it a cleanse with incense, then a good shuffle until i felt it was ready. I planned out what i wanted to ask and had them displayed on my phone so i wouldn't forget. I shuffled a bit more while overlooking my questions to make sure the intention was there to pull for the spread i created.
Tumblr media
Two cards actually jumped out separately as i was shuffling, so i used those for 1 and 2. Again, another two cards jumped out but they were sticking together, so i used both of them for 3. Whether this is because my deck was really pushing for me to pick those cards, or my bad shuffling skills, im not too sure, but they did end up fitting with the theme of the reading.
Tumblr media
1. Theme of the new year: THREE OF SWORDS
You'll be grieving over the loss of friendships this year. It'll probably be a gradual thing, and you'll be quite lonely and hurt. With time you'll feel better as long as you accept the pain and release your emotions, rather than keep it in.
2. Challenges I will face in the new year: FIVE OF SWORDS
Being in danger of losing your friendships and reputation because of self interest. You favouring winning and being right, no matter the costs, which will cause people to push away from you. People may start resenting your success rather than acknowledge it.
3. How to overcome these challenges: KING OF SWORDS (rev) + QUEEN OF WANDS
Be cunning. You know what people like to hear, and you're smart enough to use that in your favour to keep your friendships going.
Be independent and passionate. This is what people will like about you. Naturally you are a leader, so step up to move off the path you're going down. It'll attract them to you, as long as you radiate positivity and confidence without holding back.
(Together, I'm getting a "i know you're an introvert, but you're smart and understand people, so confidence? fake it till you make it" vibe)
4. What is my goal for the new year: QUEEN OF CUPS
Reaching a state of emotional stability. Be empathetic to troubles your friends are going through, but with healthy boundaries. Your intuition will be right, so let it guide you in decision making. Don't overthink it, just let it flow and you'll be okay.
5. How to achieve this goal: EIGHT OF CUPS (rev)
Reach your goal by reevaluating your life, where you are and where you're going. Try looking for a deeper connection with your life purpose rather than being material. Question what makes you happy. Don't neglect your own needs.
6. What I will gain: THREE OF WANDS
Occupational opportunities will become available to you in your chosen work field. Consider every option. You have a lot of unique skills and information, so take those into consideration while looking for work too.
7. What I will lose: THE TOWER (rev)
You'll lose a lot (refer to 2). Not a devastating amount, still more than you're comfortable with though. Be prepared to take preventative measures to soften the blow (refer to 3), but remember that resisting change and prolonging a negative situation doesn't help. Take risks to change things fast, and if it doesn't work then it doesn't work.
I found these meanings through interpretation of the images, then following up with the guidebook. As you can probably tell by now... 2022 doesnt look great for me which is just awesome. I did see this coming though, as my relationships with my friends have been dwindling.
—————————————
Here’s the explanation for fellow baby witches
Incense has cleansing properties as an air element, and is a spiritual form of cleansing to remove negativity. Meanwhile, shuffling the deck is a physical cleansing form, and removes traces of the last reading.
When a card 'jumps' out of your deck while you're shuffling, it's generally considered a sign that your deck really wants you to pick that card. When cards stick together, the idea is that both cards will explain the meaning of whatever question asked. That's why i used two cards for question 3 instead of splitting it.
When interpreting tarot, you should try 'guessing' what the card means before looking up the actual meaning. This will help you learn the cards by the names and designs, and will improve your intuition. Reversed cards tend to have the opposite meaning, but in some cases (like the tower), it can mean a diminished form of the upright meaning.
This reading was done during a Capricorn moon, a good time for creating structure and plans, which happened to correlate with the start of the new year when i actually did this reading (2nd of Jan, 2022). Things that commence on a Capricorn moon also generally go to plan, so i believe my reading will be accurate for this year (sadly). On the other hand, it was during a dark moon where spiritual energy is lacking, so maybe it's an inaccurate reading.
—————————————
Other info
I chose a 7 card format opposed to a monthly format, simply because i want to do a Year Ahead Birthday spread later on using the 12 months, and i'm born in January so having both would be counterproductive for me.
Want to know how to bond with and care for your tarot deck? Check out my other post here!
If anyone want's to add anything they've noticed to my reading, feel free!

New Years Ritual 🎆
This is the personal ritual I’ll be doing this New Year (ie tonight for me in Australia). It’s quite calm and doesn’t use too much energy, since the moon phase is coming out of waning crescent into dark moon, where I’m trying not to use too much magic.
New Years Eve, wake to 4:10pm
Lunar phase: Waning Crescent
Pick crystals for the night and give them energy (clear quartz, citrine, amethyst and moonstone for confidence, stress relief, harmony and new beginnings)
Write a list of what I’m thankful for in 2021
Cleanse myself from negativity with water, candles and incense
New Years Eve, 4:10pm–11:59pm
Lunar phase: Dark Moon
Daily tarot card pull
Self care face mask, rose quartz beauty roller, lavender body spray
Spend time with close friends
New Years Day, 12:00am–4:00am?
Lunar phase: Dark Moon
Celebrate the New Year with friends
Meditate before sleep

Southern Hemisphere Edition
🌑 New Moon 🌑 — time used for starting anew, personal growth and setting new intentions
Magic: consecrating new tools, cleansing and banishment
When: the moon is directly between the sun and earth, so we see the dark side of the moon
🌘 Waxing Moon 🌖 — time used for gaining power and energy and acting on intentions
Magic: love and attraction magic, cleansing and protection rituals
When: the sun begins to move closer to the moon so we see the first crescent of light until the moon is almost full
🌕 Full Moon 🌕 — time used for using power and energy and sealing intentions
Magic: cleansing and charging rituals, manifesting and divination
When: the sun is opposite the moon so we see the entire light side, two weeks after the new moon, for three days before and three days after
🌔 Waning Moon 🌒— time used for gratitude and banishing negativity
Magic: cleansing and banishing rituals
When: the sun begins to move further from the moon so we see the first dark crescent until the moon is dark
🌑 Dark Moon 🌑 — time used for regaining energy and reflection
Magic: no magic is performed, focus on personal matters and self care
When: three days before the new moon, the moon cannot be seen in any phase

Here’s the explanation for fellow baby witches
Fun fact: The moon appears upside down from Australia! That means the waning/waxing phases appear opposite to how they would from the southern hemisphere, which is why the emojis seem incorrect (this is an edit because im stupid and didnt realise)
It's generally accepted in witchcraft that we get our energy and power from the moon. As the moon goes through different phases, so do our abilities. This is why it's important to pay attention to the moon phases, so we know which forms of magic are best to perform and what time for the highest success rate.
I never did this, and I dont know why, but i regret it. I lost motivation in witchcraft for a while because nothing i seemed to be doing was impacting my life. I had a recent spark that brought me back though, and i regret not paying more attention to this stuff, because i'm a very structured person as it is.
An important note is that this isnt a complete list of all the phases, it's an overview. there are more detailed versions all over tumblr with crescents, gibbouses and quarters, but this is my current understanding at my current level, and one day i'll expand it.
Also, other versions have setting new intentions during the waxing phase, whereas i have it in new moon. This is just personal preference because it's what makes sense to me. If you have questions or corrections, let me know!

Hay Fever Remedies in Witchcraft
I’ll just preface this by saying I’m in no way a medical professional, and this post is to be considered in addition to your normal medication, not as a replacement.
These last few weeks I’ve come to a shocking discovery that in hind sight, shouldn’t be that shocking. All those years I thought I had a bad immune system and got a cold every year during the spring and summer, it was never a cold. It was just hay fever. When I realised this last week I felt pretty stupid for not realising it sooner, especially when some members of my family have it too. Of course, for me, hay fever isn’t the end of the world or anything, it’s just an inconvenience.
So in addition to taking normal over-the-counter hay fever medication, I made a list for myself of basic witch-care-ish things I can do to improve myself during these times (context: its currently Summer in Australia and the tree outside my window blooms the worst flowers for hay fever).
Crystals:
With my crystal collection growing, I always try to find ways to use them. They can be carried in a pouch, worn around your neck, made into a crystal elixir for drinking or spraying into the air, kept under your pillow while you sleep. These are the crystals most commonly associated with relief from hay fever:
Aquamarine: hay fever and throat problems
Blue lace agate: throat problems and respiratory issues
Carnelian: hay fever and allergies
Jet: respiratory issues
Plants:
I... have a lot of plants in my room. Mainly ones that don’t bloom flowers, but there’s still a lot. I’m stubborn and don’t want to get rid of them (even though it’s probably recommended that you just take them out of your room) so heres some alternatives I’ve come up with.
First things first is to change the soil of your pot plants. In addition to pollen, any mold growing deep within or on top of your soil can cause an allergic reaction with symptoms similar to hay fever. To avoid more mold growing, don’t over-water your plants after you change the soil. This will also make your plants happy so it’s a win-win
Dry out your flowers instead of using fresh ones. I often like to buy flowers for myself and put them in a vase, or just pick them. Of course, that’s probably not a good idea anymore, so I decided to just hang-dry the flowers I picked and use them for decoration in a vase instead. They’re just as cute, and give cottage-core vibes
If you have flowering plants, consider temporarily relocating them out of the main spaces you’re in everyday. For me, I’m always in my bedroom, so it’s more convenient if I move my flowering plants to the living room.
For flowering trees outside (like the australian red-flowering gum outside my window), the best you can do is not open your window. For me, the tree is on the nature strip and is owned by the council, so there’s nothing I can do there. But if you need fresh air within your room, this next point will come in handy
Negative ions:
If you have a Himalayan salt lamp you may be familiar with the concept of negative and positive ions. Positive ions—produced by electronics—can aggravate respiratory conditions, while negative ions from salt lamps can counteract this by removing microscopic dust particles and mold from the air. This way, you can have a higher air quality inside without opening your window and exposing yourself to pollen.
Spring/summer cleaning:
In addition to the pollen, sneezing could be caused by a reaction to the dust around you. It’s a good idea to do a deep clean of the room you spend most of your time in (I do my bedroom) and really dust off all of your shelves, books and items. Even if it’s not just the dust causing the sneezing, it’s probably not helping to have it there.
Make sure to clean your air conditioner. It’s often neglected, and when you want to turn it on during those hot months, all it does is blow around more dust for you to breathe in.
Aromatherapy:
These remedies can both improve respiratory issues and improve the energy in your home at the same time, which will reduce your symptoms and put you in a better mood.
Buy fresh eucalyptus leaves from your local flower store or take fallen clippings from a tree. Hang it above your shower head or bath tap and turn on the hot water, so the oils from the eucalyptus release into the air. this will help open up your sinuses and respiratory tract so you can breath easier
Brew tea such as lemongrass, chamomile and ginger to sooth your throat and clear your sinuses
Burn oils such as lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree, peppermint and lemon to clear your sinuses and relieve allergy symptoms
Instant relief:
Always use medication prescribed to you, or medication you’ve bought over-the-counter. Make sure your medication hasn’t expired (...oops)
Sleep on a gel pillow. This will help sooth any headache which is caused by the blocked sinuses and constant sneezing
Between sneezes, place vaseline over your nose to reduce irritation, and reapply after blowing your nose.
Use eye-drops. This can be purchased from any local pharmacy, or if you can’t get there, use the following method for a salt eye-wash from my mum
Himalayan Salt Eye Wash
Disclaimer: again, i’m not a medical professional, this was just something my mum did for me when i had an eye infection when i was younger and my eyes would be irritated and itchy. take necessary caution if you choose to do this
What you need:
1/2 bottle of distilled water
1/4 teaspoon of Himalayan salt
1 mixing bowl
1 spoon
1 shot glass
What to do:
Pour distilled water (room temperature or cold) into mixing bowl
Add the salt and stir until dissolved
Pour solution into shot glass
Hang your head down over the glass and press it over your closed eye, then tilt your head back so the water is contacting your closed eye
Open your eye either slightly (if you can’t handle much stinging) or all the way (if it doesn’t bother you), look around and blink
Remove the glass and repeat on other eye

Sigil Making
Sigils was actually one of the first witchy things that I did when I was starting out! I did some researching and found there were heaps of ways to make sigils, and every person has a different way of making them.
This is the way I like to do it!
What you need:
Pen
Paper
Extra paper/card stock/sticky note
What to do:
Come up with a phrase of intent. it can be regarding protection, manifestation etc, but make sure it’s written in present test (ie my home is protected)
Write it down then remove all vowels and repeated letters (ie myhsprtcd)
Rewrite the new phrase, which is consisted of the remaining letters in order
Connect the letters to numbers using the Pythagorean Numerology System (figure 1)
Remove repeated numbers and rewrite the remaining ones (ie 4781923)
Create a number wheel (figure 2). this one can be done with some creativity. the numbers 1–9 can be placed anywhere on the wheel, and you can change it around if you don’t really like the design it produces
Draw a continuous line on the number chart by the order of the numbers you have written down
Draw a small circle where the sigil begins, and a cross where it ends (eg 1 2)
Redraw the sigil on an extra paper, card stock or a sticky note and activate it by giving it your energy for a few minutes, holding it while concentrating on your intent
Tumblr media
figure 1: pythagorean numerology system
Tumblr media
figure 2: number wheel
Optional:
To make it look a bit nicer and more original, you can include a loop instead of a harsh edge when going from one number to another
You don’t need to remove duplicate numbers or letters, but it makes the sigil cleaner in the end
There are so many ways that you can do this, so i’ll link some alternates below!

–––––––––––––
Here’s the explanation for fellow baby witches
Sigils are are great form of spell craft that are physical-based and very basic, which is perfect for beginners. They only require knowledge of the basics of witchcraft, including intent.
Intent is what your desire is, or the purpose of the spell. These are generally said in the present tense as they become definite that day. “Will be” can be very vague and may cause a delay in how quickly the spell works or if it even works at all.
The tense that intent is written in is super important, and can affect whether the sigil works or not. If written in past tense it would sound something like “my home was protected”, implying that it once was and is now not. You shouldn’t add anything like “I wish for...” either, as it would add unnecessary letters. “My home will be protected” is not specific enough and doesn’t specify a time frame in which the sigil should start, but don’t compensate by adding a time word like “next week. Present tense works the best because you want the sigil to be phrased as if it’s already in the continuous process of it happening.
The Pythagorean Numerology System is very commonly used in numerology which was originally made by Pythagoras (yup, the guy with that one triangle formula in maths). He came up with the idea that there was a relationship between numbers and letters, and those numbers could act as symbols for different qualities or natures.
The circle and cross represent open and close, or the start and end of the sigil, which bonds it to the intent, and the intent only, so it can’t be altered after it’s complete unless remade.

Window Sigils
Tumblr media
Sigil tips for closet witches!
This one works especially well in the colder seasons: breath on your window to fog it up and draw on your sigil before it fades. It leaves an imprint on the glass that can only be seen once you fog it up again. Every now and then you should redo it to make sure it continues working to it’s full strength!
Also this was super hard to get a clear photo of, sorry it’s kinda bad haha
