this might have been said before but i’m just thinking about that ad that ryan reynolds released a while back where satan and the year 2020 met on a dating app and fell in love. they went on dates and kissed and did all that jazz. that was where we first heard love story (taylor’s version)!

a few months later, lil nas x released his music video for montero (call me by your name), which features an erotic, mildly sexual portrayal of him and satan! (which, as nas made abundantly clear, is not supposed to be interpreted literally!!!)

ryan reynolds/that ad did not get NEARLY as much backlash as lil nas x (if any at all??) despite the two videos displaying approximately similar portrayals of satan, and having the same reach/viewership.

i wonder why.
