I'm currently fascinated with a commonality with Neil Gaiman's work and his approach to relationships: they all are literally impossible.
Aziraphale and Crowley developed despite being on opposite sides, angel and demon.
Hob Gadling is a normal, ordinary guy from the 1400s, only able to meet the King of Dreams through a bet/experiment.
Edwin and Charles are both dead and existed 60+ years apart, only able to meet because of a "clerical error".
The Doctor is only able to speak to The TARDIS one time.
(haven't seen much of Gaiman's other work, please tell me if this pattern holds)
and I think that is saying something about how he chooses to use the fantasy genre in his stories. His relationships literally could never happen outside of fantasy, and that is what makes them all uniquely special to me. He decides to build his relationships on the foundation of what could be, while still making them feel real and keeping human emotion at the center of it.

If I had a nickel every time Richard Speight Jr. directed an episode in a supernatural show involving a gay love confession on the verge of certain death, I’d have two nickels.
Which isn’t a lot but thank you for that, Gabriel.

so I finished Dead Boy Detectives.
and that took me through a rollercoaster emotion-wise.
I'm choosing to be delusional. I'm taking the hope route. I'm believing in Painland endgame. If I can survive Destiel fallout, Lokius infinite waiting game, Hannigram semi-canon, Good Omens Season 2 ending, and OFMD cancellation, I will commit to the slow-burn angst.
oh, and the show was amazing and NEEDS more eyes on it immediately.

not my meme but you all do know about this right? It feels like it's getting buried right now and I feel like its proponents are trying to take advantage of that.

Sudan still desperately needs aid--it needs a lot of things, but it is approaching a dangerous point with famine and mass death due to hunger imminent.
These are the kinds of headlines we're getting now:
Tumblr media
Here's an ongoing fundraiser:
I linked it before, to help with Ramadan, but it's an ongoing initiative, the need has not stopped.
I picked this gofundme because it's been boosted by people I trust and you can see pictures online of the food they've provided, e.g.:
Tumblr media
But I also picked this because you can see the amount of donations. It's 2pm ET on Saturday, April 20th right now? For the next week, whatever's donated, I'll match for a total up to $2,000 (we'll say 2,750 CAD, since the gofundme is in Canadian dollars).
You don't have to send me a receipt, I just ask that you donate and boost.

Just had a sobering thought. Everyone here thinks they know where The Doctor is from. Even the Doctor themself.
Fast forward 15+ years later, turns out everyone was wrong.
"both of us know it's Gallifrey." "except..it's not." "you don't know where you're from."
God I both love and hate this show sometimes.

Heard some important information on Twitter today, and thought I’d post it here for anyone who may not have heard it. This is actually a thing, devised by human rights organisation called Karma Nirvana.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I have become very careful with my language both on and offline over the years regarding this subject, especially in light of this event.
I have started to make jokes about yelling at the CW "THIS IS WHAT YOU DID WRONG! ALL OF THIS MOLAH YOU MISSED OUT ON IS YOUR FAULT!" and have left Dabb and the other writers out of the conversation (Singer is my exception, he can screw off for reasons far beyond just writing/producing).
I hope this event can be later used in convincing whoever still needs to be talked to about potentially getting a revival including destiel discussion (just not ignoring it, jury's out in reciprocation) off the ground. Buck coming out, and reportedly no dip in the viewer base proves that it CAN be done. network TV has no excuse anymore to not do it.
again. i would love if ppl reblogging buck/oliver stuff from me would not tag it insulting supernatural and their creatives. they are two different shows made during two different times on two three different networks. this only happening now, this early in the 7th season, tells me they were clearly being constrained by a network that wasnt friendly to the show's creative vision - if anything, it should make it more clear to everyone that supernatural and their creatives were stymied by their network all the way through the end of the show. that isn't the fault of spn's crew/writers/actors so stop blaming them for something they had no control over and weren't allowed to talk about

you know something I realized? alt-right YouTubers don't make video essays. there never is a long-form video trying to analyze a text (movie, TV show, video game, novel). There never is a deep look into the mechanics, the intent, none of it. it's always hour-long camera rolls of guys just shouting into mics about how 'woke' or 'bad' a story is.
you know why? cause video essays require analyzing a story, it requires thinking deeply about things. which they cannot do, because if they did that, even for a story, they would be confronted with the reality that the way they see media is bogus. And it's easier for them to just not think, but focus on stewing in their emotions of how a situation feels.
