Draco Actias - Dragon Moth

This specimen’s habitat can range from Temperate climates to Savanna and Desert climates. Draco Actias have been recorded to grow up to 14in (35.5cm) with a wingspan of 2 feet and 7 inches (79 cm).

They express incredible hunting prowess after mating, preferring small birds and lizards. Unlike most moths, their offspring are obligate carnivores. They can consume vegetation, but they will not survive or thrive without meat. The parents of clutches will guard and provide for their young until they are large enough to fend for themselves.

They have also been seen attempting to tackle creatures x50 their size. It is not recommended to handle them without proper equipment or training, as the claws on the tips of their wings have microscopic teeth facing backwards to help them cling to their prey.

Dude this is so f*cking briliant.  To basically get Congress to realize how f*cked up data privacy laws are. He did data mining, targeted men over 45 that are within 5 miles of the US capital, and put ads out including “do you want to read Ted Cruise fanfiction”. it looks like 100s clicked it including 3 that seemed to be in the capital building while doing so, which then means he has their device info, ip address etc. which he can then mine even more.

learned the interesting but frankly horrifying fact today that, since army ants don’t have permanent nests, their queen has to travel around with them, but she’s still basically just a reproductive factory and doesn’t have any eyes so the regular ants have to lead her around like some kind of WH40K siege monster

what’s the basis behind the domestication of rodents

because for sheep and cattle we’re like “you feed us now”

for horses we went “you take me places now”

for dogs “you hunt with us now”

for cats “you kill for us now”

basically i have questions (i also have the same question regarding other pet species)

well, that's a question with kind of a funny answer!

see, the oldest domesticated rodent in the world is the house mouse, domesticated an absolutely staggering 15,000+ years ago. that's older than cats, sheep, cattle AND horses!

also, we didn't do it to them. they did it to themselves.

basically what happened was, humans figured out how to harvest and store grains long-term, and a strain of a local mouse population in Eurasia in turn figured out that human-owned grain stores were the place to be!

and from there, they moved into human dwellings.

basically, these mice accustomed themselves to human proximity in exchange for resources, and intensified this tolerance over the ages until they found that they were now a completely different SPECIES from when they started!

exactly the same as every other domesticated animal, except that we didn't consent to it and also we hate them for piddling in our shoes.

BASTARD.

and from there, it really wasn't much of a stretch to notice that these little miniburglers were actually kind of adorable, and just nab a couple and start breeding them to be pretty. they were already domesticated, so the stretch from "pest" to "pet" wasn't very far at all!

in fact, you could say it was just a letter away :)

... or put the juice in the freezer long enough to get it cold but not long enough to freeze it??

Is it OSHA compliant to put my metal camping cup in the freezer for a couple of minutes to an hour, to then take it out and pour my room temperature juice in it so I can enjoy a nice cold beverage without ice

...I don't see why not? As long as the cup is fine to be frozen? And if you don't mind your hand being very cold.
