More sketchbook drawings of Cirque characters! I attempted to distinguish adult Charlie and old Kingston a bit more, but I'm pretty sure I just ended up making Kingston look a bit too much like Manet ^^''

Does Matisse know how to skate? No.
Is she having a good time learning from hot roller derby girlies? Very much so, yes.
Happy Lesbian Visibility Week!

No comic this week just means I can continue to go through and add more data to the TV Tropes page, including the entire Shout-Outs page that I moved because there's so many to see now. Enjoy your rest! Burnout does no one any good.
Whoa! You put so much work into this!
This is so insightful. I'm taken aback:

Wow, it's got PAGES now? Ha, the Trivia page:
Tumblr media
Thank you! Do you have a Ko-Fi or some kind of tip jar thing? Archiving facts from an 8 year old comic must take ages.

I wonder how George would've reacted had he known both his twins would end up gay..? Is he the type to look down on lgbt types?
Will is trans but either way, I feel like he would not be a fan...😬

it's okay! when you're done drawing cirque you'll come up with a whole other idea! even if you don't and you DO keep drawing cirque that's okay too if it makes you happy! never forget that this comic and probably every other comic started as just a whim of one character
Thanks for the encouragement! 🙏🏾🥹

what about the future designs do you not like specifically? I think they look really nice, especially when claudette has a mime pattern skirt to really compliment her yellow jacket! do they just not "fit" the characters quite yet? maybe her jacket can have bright red polka dots!
Thanks!
mmm, I think it's mostly Charlie. I'm never satisfied with his future designs. He kind of just ends up looking like Kingston with curlier hair.
Tumblr media
I also generally don't think about what the Cirque characters would be doing beyond this first year of them ruling, which is the comic, so I'm like, wait no, you're not supposed to be older than this even though it's been 8 years and I'm now the same age as Kingston and Penelope. Time just keeps happening. 😨

I remember a long time ago you answered an ask about which characters would have kids, right? It just occurred to me that there wouldn't be any direct descendants from Quinn's line. So... Who'd become the next clown king/queen after Charlie and Claudette?
They're referencing this post
I'm sure Claudette and her future wife could find a way to have their own baby or adopt one.
Tumblr media
Or they'd just pass the crown down to Red.
(Charlie has never been interested in being a parent.)

This was meant for Siblings Day but I was busy that day.
Here's Rich but Neglected adult siblings: Terminal Eldest Daughter Syndrome and her baby brother, Abandonment Issues!

you know, I love queen grandma not because I particularly like her, but you very eloquently wrote a flawed character with her own biases who tried her best in a very shitty situation. you rock!!
Thank you!
Queen Louise...tries her best.
Louise was chosen to marry the then prince and was very excited to be queen, even if her betrothed didn't seem all that interested in her...
Tumblr media
But she tried to make the best of it. She listened to her advisors, in-laws, and professionals, like a good queen consort is supposed to.
Tumblr media
(tbf, neither Louise or George knew what to do about Quinn, they just took 'experts' advice.)
Louise loves her children and grandchildren and tries to be there for them the best she can, but she still has old school ideas and tendencies.
Tumblr media
She was inspired by a lot of older people I grew up around. My grandmother, for example, was so kind and funny and was (usually) willing to learn to new things, but...she was kinda sexist and very colorist. Like, she believed that dark skinned people were evil (my family is all black).
People are complicated.

Episode 10: The King's Monster pt. 35
The boys discover their true calling: being annoying together for attention
fyi: There won't be an update next week, so that I can work on the comic backlog. For some reason, these 'storybook' pages take longer than regular pages to draw so it's running low. :/
Thanks for reading!

For Autism Acceptance Month, I felt the urge to focus on Quinn’s terrible experience with applied behavior analysis (ABA therapy), which many autistic children were/are subjected to. For Quinn, this lead to masking, self harm, and overwhelming stress growing up. Because of her need to protect Claudette from this abuse, she was finally able to understand that her own autism wasn’t a bad thing and taught her daughter the same.
Misinformed and ablest societies are the reason why autistic people call for acceptance rather than awareness. We don’t need a cure, we need understanding and resources that actually help us rather than those that stigmatize and try to change us.
Learn more about the history of ABA: https://www.spectrumnews.org/features/deep-dive/controversy-autisms-common-therapy/
ABA is abuse… yes all ABA
