For me it could go either water or light. Water can be calm and beautiful, but also powerful and ferocious much like Kagome herself. And light...well, she's InuYasha's light, arguably the light of the whole group as well, so really it could go either way if you ask me.

I think being a fan of InuYasha has awakened in me a craving for mythology series where it's always an adventure focusing on a human befriending/falling in love with a mythical person from the mythology. Doesn't matter what kind of media it is, if it's like InuYasha, I'm like "sign me up".

Like seriously, my favorite series aside from InuYasha are literally Kamisama Kiss, The Red Winter Trilogy, the Guild Codex: Demonized (not exactly mythology per se, but it's still a human x mythical person adventure series) and now I'm about to watch the Kdrama Tale of the Nine-Tails on Netflix. Literally InuYasha as a series has awakened in me a craving for the mythology fiction genre and I can't even be mad about it.

Here's the "Kagome is Kagome" conversation I told you about, albeit a different English translation (there are 2 ENG translations):

See on how they even bring up the "two-timer" comment? But on how InuYasha immediately refrutes that by explaining on how he feels partially responsible for Kikyou's death and the current state she's in because he didn't trust her? and THAT'S why he can't forget about her. and then InuYasha goes and assures Kagome that she's not a replacement.

This beautiful conversation was replaced in the anime by this stupid line:

So...Yeah, the anime REALLY makes InuYasha more of a jerk than he ever is in the manga. But wait! there's more.

The anime also makes InuYasha (and Kagome) less physically affectionate if you can believe it:

See on how Inu is CLINGING onto Kagome just as much as Kagome is to him? Yeah. Big difference.

They also take out many examples of InuYasha's words of assurance and affirmation to Kagome entirely from the anime:

Exhibit C: and this one is where Inu tells Kagome that it was only because of HER VOICE that he was able to break free of Kikyou's spell, and that she (Kagome) should have more confidence in him (since he will always come back to her, KAGOME)

I could literally go on forever, as there are SO MANY more things the anime does to depict InuYasha so horribly and make him seem like a two-timing, insensitive jerk, but I think you get the gist of what I mean. This isn't even scratching the surface. That isn't to say Manga InuYasha handles every situation in the best way when it comes to the whole Kagome/Kikyou thing, but he really is just trying his best to do right by both of them while struggling with his developing feelings for Kagome AND his survivor's guilt over Kikyou's death, esp. considering that to him, Kikyou's supposed betrayal and death felt like yesterday to him instead of 50 years ago, so that wound and eventual grief is still painfully fresh for him. And on top of all that, he's also a 15 year old boy who, like Kagome, is experiencing a lot new "firsts" and feelings that he doesn't really know how react to them in a mature way. (don't let Movie 2 fool you if you've seen it. it's not canon. He's not 200 years old)

Anyway, sorry again for the long post @doesnotmatfer but I just thought I'd show you what I was talking about with you from our earlier conversation, esp. since you were ok with me sending screenshots, and I guess I fell down the rabbit hole on how many differences were made to InuYasha's character from the manga into the anime, specifically how he treats the whole situation with Kikyou and Kagome and how his dynamic with Kagome in particular was so grossly changed.

Anyway, I hope this helps my friend! And I hope if you give the IY manga a chance that you'll enjoy InuYasha's character a lot more! Pretty much everyone was horribly mischaracterized to some degree, but InuYasha was one of the characters who got it the worst.

@kitramune I can understand where your coming from with that, but I personally don't consider anything from Yashahime except Moroha canon. Especially the whole separation stuff. I just like to go by my own post-canon.😊

You guys know on how InuYasha, the few times he talks about it, badmouths his father and says he doesn't care to avenge his death when he battles Ryukoltsei?

I wonder if InuYasha starts to regret his mindset towards his father once he himself becomes a father. Or at the very least, he starts to understand his father better. Especially if you want to go by the Movie 2 canon where part of Toga's death was from protecting InuYasha and his mom.

Just makes me wonder if InuYasha looks at Moroha or any of his other children and has the thought that it'd break his heart if any of his kids felt resentment towards him like he felt for his own father, especially when everything he ever does is to protect them. And I wonder if it makes InuYasha start to look at his father's memory differently, now that he's a parent himself and would do anything and everything to protect his kids, even if it meant dying and leaving them without a father.

Not that he'd go and try to get himself killed, as he wants to actually be alive so they don't have to grow up like he did, but you know he'd sacrifice himself if it meant his children could live, just like his father did for him (according to movie 2).

I don't know, I just wonder if InuYasha starts to ever regret the way he looked at his father's memory back when he was a teen once he becomes a father to Moroha and starts to understand his father's actions as a parent now that he himself is a parent. Ya know what I mean?

This is why I adore the InuYasha filler episodes and don't understand why so many people don't like them. Now, I can get that having TOO MUCH filler can be exhausting, but if you spread it out in between the plot-driven episodes/chapters enough (which InuYasha does well in my opinion) than filler fits right in with the rest of the story. And honestly it gives us a nice breather from all the plot-driven episodes/chapters.

Seriously, I love most of the filler in InuYasha. The only filler I didn't care for were the episodes that focused on Sesshomaru and his group.

genuinely one of the worst things that’s happened to television in the last few years (exacerbated by streaming services) is death of Filler. going from 20 episodes to 8 because “we didn’t really need that episode where the main characters went to the beach right? it had no long lasting effect” but we DID!!! we needed to see how they act without the Big Bad Plot and to establish the dynamics between the characters and lay in the sun (do they forget sunscreen? how do they react to a thieving seagull? do they get buried in the sand or do they do the burying?). the plot isn’t everything. the action doesn’t hit as hard without the quiet moments. give us character development and our little scenes back

And this makes Kagome's 3 year departure even more heart-wrenching. She was essentially the founder of their new family, but now suddenly the piece that tied everyone together in the first place is gone, lost to all of them. The person that gave them all a new place to belong and was the reason they all stuck around each other initially has vanished from their family. The family that wouldn't even exist without her.

We focus so much on how hard it was for InuYasha when Kagome disappeared, but really, everyone in the group lost an important piece of themselves when she left.

But she came back. And their family is whole again. Forever and always.

Inuyasha, for all the titular character's adventures in slaying various youkai to gain their powers or save people, is at its heart about Kagome adopting a bunch of strays into a found family. Inuyasha himself is obvious, but Shippou was literally orphaned and though it wasn't onscreen whose idea it was to take him in, he says he hung around because of Kagome.

Miroku was literally a vagabond roaming around waiting to die since he had no hope of finding (or beating) Naraku. Inuyasha was vehemently against him since he had crook-like tendencies and Inuyasha is already loath to trust people. It's Kagome's influence that brought him along in the end. She was willing to give him the chance he needed, AND was the one to show Miroku Inuyasha was trustworthy in turn.

Do I even need to get into how she helped Sango?

So I'm watching the episode where InuYasha turns into a full demon for the 1st time and it got me thinking.

For all the times Inuyasha turned full demon he never ONCE went after Kagome. That is unless there's an outside malevolent influence or force trying to control Inu in his demon form, but even then Inuyasha fights against that outside influence while still in his demon form.

But when it's just InuYasha himself in his demon form without any outside evil to influence him, he's never attacked Kagome, or even the rest of his friends for that matter. Sure, Demon InuYasha's been weary of Kagome and the gang (especially during the 1st transformation) but he's never actually turned his claws against them and tried to attack them. And I have a theory that maybe its because Inu's demon recognizes Kagome and the others as people who are special to him. He doesn't fully recognize them, per se, but his instincts know on some base level that he cares about these people, ESPECIALLY Kagome.

Perhaps Demon InuYasha understands that these people are apart of his pack, and that Kagome in particular is someone who he cares a great deal for. *cough*his intended mate*cough*

Anyway, it was just something I noticed while rewatching this episode. Correct me though if I'm wrong.

I know people in the fandom have talked to death about this topic, but there really is something so poetic and cathartic about InuYasha being so obsessed with getting the shikon jewel for himself to become a full-fledged demon in the beginning of the story, to not giving a crap about it at all and even going as far as to fight the jewel itself in order protect the people he loves. Especially Kagome. And in the end, he got everything he ever wanted and needed because of that change. Everything he thought he could get by gaining more power and becoming full demon.

I know it sounds cliche as hell, but it's true. Just think how much better the world would be in real life if people led with their hearts instead of their need for power.

Hey InuYasha fandom. How we doin'?

I hate that planned obsolescence is starting to reach fandoms. I hate that fandoms are starting to die after two, three years, I hate that whenever you stop getting content that means the fandom will die and be gone.

I need people to stop trying to brush off old interests as being 'cringe' as soon as you lose interest, or worse: make it seem like it's imoral to like something that they themselves held so dear before.

Fandoms are meant to last for years and years, the moment content stops being created is the moment we truly thrive because we keep creating the content ourselves the way we love it and expand on the things that are already there for us.

I don't care if you lost interest on something, it's fine and normal even, but stop trying to blame and make fun of people who still do love the fandom and the content and the things we can create.

I need people to enjoy fandom again

PJO SPOILERS!!!!!!

I'm only making one post tonight because I gotta be up in a few hours but WOW!!!!! What a finale episode!!!!! It was everything I loved from the book and more. Also that scene with Percy and Poseidon!? I actually got teared up. You could just SEE the pain and grief in Poseidon's eyes over the fact that he couldn't be with Percy and Sally and it was so heartbreaking!!!

Also ADORE that Poseidon saved Percy from Zeus. Not only from the bolt, but by surrendering. We all know how prideful the gods are, especially Big 3 gods, so the fact that Poseidon put Percy FIRST over his pride makes my heart melt. I always believed that as far as the Greek gods go in PJO, Poseidon was one of the better and more genuinely caring parents, and the show is just proving me right 1000%. Its also a good moment because it demonstrates to Percy that the gods aren't all black and white; they're not all terrible parents by choice. In my opinion, this moment gives Percy's motivation on fighting FOR the gods more weight and grounding. Because he sees that his dad DOES care about him. We all say Percy could've EASILY turned out like Luke, but because Percy sees that his dad does care about him, and that some gods do care about their kids, it allows him to see that not all the gods are completely terrible for the sake of being terrible. I still love his motivation in the books where he fights for the sake of his friends, but I like that the show is letting Percy see too that the gods, like humans, are multiple layered and that they have their reasons. This is not me trying to justify all the gods' actions btw, but I do think that there are SOME gods at least that aren't completely terrible for no reason like Zeus and Ares in PJO, and Poseidon protecting Percy is a great show of that and adds to Percy's decision to defend the gods instead of fighting against them, even though he and Luke are a lot alike with similar feelings of abandonment and resentment.

Also, I wonder how the TV only viewers are doing right now after Luke's betrayal. From what I heard, TV viewers loved Luke, so I can only imagine how WRECKED they must be feeling. I feel devastated, and I saw it coming as a book reader. That's how great Luke's actor was, and how great the show portrayed Luke as a older brother figure to Percy.

Overall, AMAZING final. I'll try to express more thoughts tomorrow.
