Her fire burns so hot very little gets 'stuck' in there, but after a particularly muddy slog or hitting a gravel scree wrong, sometimes something needs a little jiggle. Also there's the occasional buildup of carbon scorching that needs scrubbing off after burning off something particularly sticky.

Nothing can get wodged in there too deep, just based on the way things feed and squeeze and such through the body (it would be a hell of a design flaw if it did), but they're still open holes, bodies do stupid things, and she's used to tending them by now.

It doesn't hurt but it does feel strange wiggling things around in there - something stuck is mildly irritating, and there's some pressure moving it around to get it out.

The return of Mr. Tail* - Karlach and Tav continue fucking around with their buddies;

Why have loved ones if you're not going to gently harass them? Tav loves it even if she would like to go to sleep.

Lae'zel has quickly and thoroughly (to the surprise of the others) bought into the conceit and plays right along (in no small part because Karlach is appealing to her interests.) Tav tries to cheer Gale a bit by being absurd - she worries about their morose wizard (the joke is slightly off-color because that's just how Tav is.) Shadowheart finds her own ways to have fun (she's allowed to be a little mean, as a treat - they both know she won't actually hurt them. Their tails are not actually flexible enough to meaningfully tie in a knot.)

Wyll needed in on this bullshit - they all worked it out and decided a hand was a fair substitute in his case (bearing in mind he's not a tiefling at all but a human man touched by wild infernal magic.)

Today in self-indulgent Modern AU shenanigans; Tav and Karlach teach the others to surf (well, not Wyll, he already knows - but he's happy to be out doing it with friends.) Tav's a natural (monk - high dex), Karlach is a little rusty but passable. They're watching Shadowheart at the moment (they already taught her to swim, she's doing well.) Lae'zel is thriving. Gale is trying, bless him. Astarion got dragged by his board once and has decided to sit under an umbrella for the rest of the afternoon. Halsin is a dolphin, which is probably cheating. Jaheira and Minsc are vibing. Minthara left them on 'read'.

Do I draw terribly spesific things? Yes. Do I draw what makes me happy? Also yes.

Hand studies with the tadfool's preferred wine & beer orders:

Shadowheart - White wine and lots of it. Leave the bottle.

Astarion - Red. It's red, it's in a glass, don't worry about it (trying to keep it 'warm' in his hand - or using it to warm his hand, your choice.)

Karlach - Red ale, a big and crisp in a nice big, cold 24 oz glass.

Lae'zel - Hazy IPA, bright and full.

Gale - Some sort of fancy barrel-aged something or other, comes in a pretty glass and looks expensive.

Wyll - A classic amber ale - or whatever is a specialty of the place they're at.

Tav - Stout, dark enough to see yourself in.

(Is this a sneaky modern AU thing? Maybe a little and in dress - but I think the taste still stands either way.)

Before they can touch, they still do hang out a lot - just shooting the shit - Tav wants Karlach's promised scar stories (or anything else, really), and is happy to reciprocate.

Karlach doesn't want anyone too nearby when she sleeps, so she doesn't slip up and burn someone unintentionally by rolling over.

The tails aren't really wagging or lashing here, it's more of a longer, slower wave that says 'I'm alert and paying attention' - it could be interpreted as frustration.

Of course once they CAN touch:

There's just something about Barbarians and Potatoes I guess.

Karlach Cliffgate, Holga Kilgore, and my dear beloved Vol all seem to have a special place in their heart for the humble root vegetable - With Karlach's family's loving 'taters', Holga's potato time, and Vol just in love with anything potatoes.

Barbs need carbs - gotta eat something to fuel that RAGE.

P.S. Yes, I do think Karlach and Holga would get along well (I know Holga doesn't smile much, but I'm sure someone equally enthused about special weapons would bring joy. And I know Karlach isn't especially on about fancy weapons in particular, but she does seem to love special things by known craftsmen):

Karlach is stacking rocks on Tav because she's very flat and still when she's laying down and it amuses Karlach to do so (they fall over when Karlach tries to wiggle to reach a rock that's just a little too far away.)

I hope I convey enough that they like to and are happy switching off who's big spoon/little spoon, laying on top of the other, needing some comfort, doing something weird to the other, etc. etc. Tav is only a little shorter than Karlach and somewhat more lightly built, otherwise they're not that far off in size (something in the water in Baulder's Gate I guess.)

"Out of the Abyss" is going... well we met HIM - the chungus himself, Themberchaud, so it's definitely going somewhere.
