Zutara Week 2020 Continuation: Reunion Part II

I couldn’t help myself.

Shoutout to @crayolasaurus again and their Zutara - peace AMV. It sparked this image in my head of a continuation of Zuko and Katara’s meeting in the Reunion animatic. It kept me up at night, honestly, so I had to make this! It takes place later in the day following the events of Reunion Part I. Katara is settling in at the palace as the Southern Water Tribe Ambassador and is taking some time to decompress out in a breezeway, and after he had returned to a long day of Fire Lord duties and state business, Zuko follows up with her there. Both stripped of artifice and defenses (he’s in casual wear, she’s without her water pouch)… and they are able to enjoy each other’s company finally… as old friends… and more.

Ladies and gentleman, it’s the prodigy himself :) And he has perfect pitch! For those who don’t know, that means he can listen to any musical note and name it. It’s a pretty rare thing that people naturally have, 1/10,000, and some examples of people who have/had it: Mozart, Beethoven, Ella Fitzgerald and apparently Mariah Carey which is cool. His musical memory is also sharp so he can listen to any piece and replicate it on the piano. (Guess who also has perfect pitch? Lemme give you a hint-ata 👀 [THAT WAS SUCH A BAD PUN SOMEONE STOP ME 😂😂])His hair got a little bit long but honestly I think he grows his hair out for competitions and concours because he forgets about everything except music

My amazing friend arranged a string quartet version of the first S4 op for HQ, “Phoenix” by Burnout Syndromes and you can bet the Bokuaka Kuroken quartet plays it because Bokuto begged. Show it some love, he’s awesome! Click here :)

I'd love to hear more about your HQ Classical AU!

Yeah of course! Sorry for the late response, I’m not that well acquainted with tumblr yet haha

So I have two main ideas that I’m going off of.

The first is Kageyama and Hinata butting heads as usual. They’re both genius musicians (Kags is a pianist and Hinata a violinist), but Kags has trouble working with other people so he gets paired up as an accompanist to Hinata, the hardest to work with violinist.

The second is the Bokuaka Kuroken string quartet with first violin Akaashi, second violin Kuroo, viola Kenma and cello Bokuto. They manage to drag violinist Tsukki into the mix :)

May I present to you HQ Classical AU 🎶

In which Akaashi is first violin, Bokuto is a cellist. Bokuto was tricked into playing cello by Kuroo in middle school when he was just starting out, because Kuroo said that cellists get the most spotlight. Then Bokuto discovered that cellists don’t get as much attention as they should (I’m not a cellist but it’s one of my favorite instruments). Bokuto used to be in emo mode about it constantly and made a point about playing solo cello songs. But he hasn’t minded since he met Akaashi :,) Kuroo also plays violin, but joke’s on him cuz he’s second violin. Kenma used to play violin too but then switched to viola when he got to high school, because he’s actually pretty decent and people started paying more attention to him

This is a suuuperrrrr rough drawing just to get ideas down. When I say really rough, I mean I didn’t even draw Bokuto’s feet because I ran out of space in my sketchbook and didn’t bother fixing it when I was digitally coloring 😂 So there is definitely more to come!! Including but not limited to genius pianist Kageyama, ambitious and free form violinist Hinata (boy, do they clash), violinist Tsukki, contrabassist Yamaguchi, and conductor Suga!!

And since I’m trying to condense the number of posts and catch up on posting on tumblr, Yamaguchi is here too :)
