I am not going to lie to you guys. I am not feeling motivated to keep going with the poll because I see much disagreement with how the poll is going.

First, there is the problem with the ship names, which isn't the main issue but it is starting to bother me the number of people that are saying: "That's not how it´s called" "That's an awful name", etc,

I know that. I know that those aren't the names. I know that they are awful. But I have already explained: I didn't have the name for all the ships (despite me asking several times for the ship name) and asked if people wanted me to make up a name for those I didn't have a name, the answer was yes, so I did.

I don't mind putting the real names once I found them, but I am keeping the old ones because of tagging. I have said this many times and it is starting to get tedious.

But the main problem about everything is that I am seeing a lot. "why this ship here" or "they shouldn't be here" or the last was the ask I just answered. And even I have started to wonder if it's fair for the ships with a story to lose to the more popular ones. (thou that it isn't the case, see how Juligawa gained to Frostcup).

I have my reasons to include every ship that is in this poll. Every ship. Even the popular ones such as Zelink or Zutara. I am not posting those stories because I don't have consent, and I would hate to post something that doesn't belong to me without consent.

But I don't want any ship to be mistreated, or that people feel it's unfair, but I don't know what else to do, on the top of my head, there are two options. I finish the poll, keep it going until the end, or do it again.

But I am not going to lie. I don't know if I have the time to restart the poll, I am leaving on vacation on July 29, where I would be mostly offline and surely won't have time to keep the poll running. I return to my home after two weeks and start university a week after.

I am not making a poll this time, I want to hear your thoughts, what you want. I really want to see this through to the end, but I am really not feeling motivated anymore.

I am not posting a story without consent of the people who submitted it. Some people wouldn't like the story to be told.

I am going to be honest, at the beginning, I didn't think about posting the stories, it was with the submissions that I thought that it would be funnier to post them. However, by that point, I already had a couple of submissions and I couldn't make another form.

My mistake was not asking for consent to the story with the form. Maybe that way I would have chosen only the ships that had stories with consent, or people who were not up to date with the blog and didn't see me asking for consent would have the chance to say in the formt hat they wanted the story to be told.

But that wasn't what happened. So yes, is my mistake, and I am sorry. But I am not putting any story that I have no consent to publish.

Yes, I know, I saw it on a reblog. I asked many times which was the ship name but I never got an answer, and neither could find a name, so I made up one (I even made a poll asking if people wanted me to make names for those ships that I didn't have a name). I know it is an awful name but I am awful with ship names.

Sadly, I can't change it know because Tumblr doesn't let you. If they win to Toshinko, I will put the new name in the next poll WITH the old one, because I alreadly have tagged the polls with that ship name so it's easier to find.

I DIDN'T EVEN LIKE TONOOKA UNTIL LIKE EARLY 2022. THIS MAN HAS BEEN IN THE GAME SINCE 2018. OUR FIRST INTRODUCTION TO HIM IS HOW HE LITERALLY RUINED ITARU'S LAST YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL AND WAS THE REASON WHY ITARU CAN'T TRUST PEOPLE ANYMORE AFTER THAT AND CLOSES HIMSELF OFF.

AND YET. GOD.

Listen, I'm not an enemies to lovers liker. And exes to lovers is the kind of thing I like when I make them exes, not when they're canonically exes (they never canonically dated but like come on. they're basically exes). So why did I start shipping them?

I have these Twitter roleplay accounts for a3, a handful of them, and while roleplaying a different character in the series, I joined this little server of roleplay where we'd talk about stuff and plan out events and whatever, and one of them was roleplaying this fourth character (Citron!) mainly, but also had a Tonooka account, you might be able to see where I’m going with this.

We had this friend who had the Itaru roleplay account who really liked to roleplay this other Itaru ship (with a guy called Chikage), and sometimes he'd forget to do the replies to other ongoing roleplays. so my Citron/Tonooka friend dm'd me about it since they felt kind of left out whenever that happened, especially if there was an ongoing thread with Itaru and Citron, and I was like yeah I get it. I liked Chikaita a lot but it wasn't my go-to Itaru or Chikage ship, so I was like “uh huh nods”, and we got to talking about Itaru ships, and they mentioned Tonoita.

They really liked Tonoita, who is kinda unpopular in the general fandom because he caused Itaru a lot of trauma, and Itaru's like the number one or two most popular chara in the whole game, so a lot of people didn't like him. But my friend liked him a lot and told me so much about him, and literally he only appeared in one event story in the entire game at that point but I was listening so intently, and then I was like “mhm nods i understand”, and hey u can come to me about Tonoita whenever u want in case you feel judged or whatever.

BUT THAT WASN'T THE KICKER.

I was still kinda neutral about it but I didn't dislike it, but the aforementioned Itaru rp friend went inactive, so after a while, I was like “What if I make an Itaru account instead?” so I did! and then, fuck, I literally still have the roleplay bookmarked. My friend was on their Tonooka account goofing off about whatever shit and I posted this stupid reaction pic of the press x to doubt guy and then Tonooka fucking REPLIED. And then we had the usual exes banter. And then it became real??? LIKE THEY STARTED CRYING AND SHIT?? AND APOLOGIZED TO EACH OTHER?? AND COMMUNICATED WITH EACH OTHER??? AND THEN LIKE. AGREED TO AT LEAST BE CIVIL TO EACH OTHER AGAIN? WHICH TURNED INTO BEING FRIENDS AGAIN?? AND THEN THEY STARTED DATING AGAIN?????

AND THEN I JUST WENT SO INSANE ABOUT IT THAT THEY'VE NEVER LEFT MY HEAD SINCE, LIKE, THIS WAS IN EARLY 2022. SO IT'S BEEN A YEAR AND I'M STILL VISCERALLY INSANE OVER THEM BECAUSE OF THIS ONE THREAD THAT STARTS WITH A PIC OF A STUPID MEME. MY GOD, I HATE BEING OBSESSED WITH THEM BECAUSE LIKE I CAN COUNT ON ONE HAND THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO LIKE THIS SHIP (I KNOW LIKE. 2 PEOPLE AND I HAVE LIKE 200 TWITTER MUTUALS.) Once upon a time, one of my now-friends was posting stuff about them, I didn’t like it, but then I looked at the tags And she was tagging it as frEAKIN… DAIN… BALLAS… I DIED, YO. I couldn’t live with the fandom knowing the pairing as that so I conferred with my beta and we came up with NaviMind and MasterGuide.

Then I started interacting more with the fandom and started accidentally converting people to this pairing like it was a religion. KEEP IN MIND that I didn’t ship them yet??? Like actually I was talking about canonical things and the people I texted were like “It’s my OTP now” 😭😭😭😭. My record time from me meeting someone to converting that person was a few hours. Literally, I had a NaviMind aura, it was a passive effect.

Then afterward I actually started imagining super angsty things about them and I wrote about their friendship, and I thought it would be much sadder if they were in love but couldn’t be together because of Bain’s paranoia and Dallas’ refusal to admit his feelings. They’re already best friends in canon, I write it to where Dallas can’t live without his guy… yeah, I have the most fics about this duo. I’m still strong even though it’s been over a year.

I was looking through some recently posted fanfics for the fandom on ao3, and this one fic about Quarrel finding Tiso barely alive after being dumped out of the coliseum caught my interest. I read it, and yes, it was good. I could see the potential and everything, but I wouldn't ship it, right?

Exactly two weeks later, I noticed I was looking through ship art of the two on Pinterest (it's always Pinterest) and adding it to my private board where I end up putting my favorite ship art into. It took me about 3 saved pictures to realize what exactly I was doing.

Story of Jedtavius:

Here's the thing: I was introduced to this by a man who was friends with my parents who found me and my little sister endearing and gave us his sons' old movies as they were already adults. Sounds normal right? No, we met him at our local church. Worse? Everyone there is subtly homophobic, including him. I do remember really loving the movies as a kid though, and also the hourglass scene hitting hard for me as a kid.

Anyways, as I grew up, I forgot about the movies, then I got back onto Wattpad in 2020, and one day, a Jedtavius fic randomly appeared on my For You page. I was kinda surprised and shocked to see a ship of characters from a movie I watched as a kid and then I went on a huge journey that led to me discovering that 1) there's a NATM fandom and 2) these two were a very popular ship And now I'm here hyperfixiating on a bunch of movies I watched when I was nine.

Sometimes I read fanfiction of these two at church and whenever the same man sits behind us I think "I wonder if he knows I'm reading gay fanfiction about a movie he showed me as a kid". And sometimes, I remember I wouldn't even be reading gay fanfiction at church if it weren't for him introducing the movies to me. So thank you, homophobic Christian man! :D

Story of Clexa:

I had been looking for good F/F ships that had lots of fanfic and I came across a youtube video of Clexa that I thought was pretty intriguing. I really like F/F dynamics that are messy and complex, Clexa seemed perfect. I got a VPN and watched the show but, unfortunately, it was full of pretty much everything I hated: graphic violence, miscommunication as a major plot device, and overly stubborn characters that make you want to scream. I am pretty squeamish when it comes to any kind of on-screen violence but because I wanted to be able to read the fanfic so bad I persevered.

It got to the point where I was listening to the show with my eyes closed, feeling physically sick. There were various scenes that I had to skip through because I just couldn't watch them. I dreaded watching the show but made myself do it bit by bit until finally Lexa was introduced as a character. I watched a few episodes with her in, until Clexa's dynamic was set up, then decided I'd had enough and abandoned the show.

Since then, I've read loads of fan fiction about them. My favorite ongoing fanfic ((My) Destruction Within Your Mouth) is about Clexa. I still hate the source material and have never watched it since, but love the ship and find the premise and world-building engaging enough that I don't even really read AUs. I think I'm the ultimate rebuttal to the idea that fan fiction is always a love letter to the source material.
