For today's post, I want to appreciate how differently Galaxy Steve and Elemental Steve talk.

Remember that one time balloons were mentioned in the Steve Saga? When Rainbow asked what a balloon was, Galaxy told him to imagine, "sand, but it goes up instead of down." He describes a foreign thing by asking his audience to imagine a familiar thing, but with a twist.

If Rainbow asked Elemental to explain what a balloon was, Elemental would probably say, "How do I explain it...It's basically a bunch of gas molecules bound together by this material that is like - how do I describe it - fabric, but also not like fabric. The gas molecules are trapped, but at the same time, it's still dispersing, since it is still a gas. Some balloons fly up. So the gas is free to move around in the sky, but at the same time it's still limited in movement. It's complicated, I know."

These two characters are so different in how they explain things, and I just wanted to appreciate that for today.

I got the ability to ask back, so I can finally submit this: The main chorus of the song 'Telescope' by Cavetown gives me Illusion vibes;

"Sittin' in a telescope

(Unfortunately the rest of the song has a bit of love song vibes :( )

The last few lyrics of 'This is Home' by Cavetown also reminds me of Illusion a bit!

Thank you so much for sharing Telescope! I never thought there would be a soft song that would match Illusion, who looks like a personification on synthwave and sci-fi sounds. Yet here we are.

I love the song This is Home, as well as the latest version Home! It's actually part of my RRFF playlist and the last lyrics always makes me think of the Galaxy kiddos finding peace :)

Hypno knew Rainbow back before he became Hypno? 👀 I am so excited to hear more about that.

Part two of information about Rainbow's past. Part one is here.

Time to introduce all the friends Rainbow made pre-hibernation. A key change I made to Rainbow's backstory in Venture is that he keeps an average of five friends with him at all times instead of just one. That way it hurts more when he loses them (I'm gonna be so honest, I still don't know if I'm going to kill them off or let them die of old age. Nonetheless, they are dead when he wakes up two hundred years later).

Aspen is his first friend, a Montir he met in his early teens who has overbearing parents and a problem speaking up for themself. Rainbow is somewhat of an escape from a life she has no control over, and yet he still feels like he's dragging her along without consideration sometimes. Aspen loves the adventure though.

We're obviously keeping his best friend in the group. The Hicorus who was there with him since the early days of his journey. Winter's arc would revolve around gaining confidence in his powers. I'm also taking all of his accidental racism in SSO, doing it on purpose, then getting rid of it. He was raised in a city with very few other Arkisen, leaving him ignorant and dismissive of the problems Hicorus caused for Edorans, past and present.

When Winter joins Rainbow on his journey, he learns more about Edorans through the help from Rainbow's friend, Fionna. He learns all sorts of bad stuff about his people, and even becomes less self-conscious thanks to Fionna's encouragement and infectious confidence in herself. She's the one the group considers the mood-lifter, which means she is 100% not looking after her own happiness, and doesn't even realize it.

Lavender is the group's nerd and collector. They learned and acquired an impressive number of things, most of which were done to help Rainbow. Lavender is more interested in the unique abilities some of the relics hold than their own magic. They've cast every spell a Cendale is capable of, and they got bored of it quickly. I promise not to write this guy out of the story by turning him into a chicken like Sabre did.

The last member of the core group is Cy, the Navis. He's the youngest, but starts off as the strongest of the six of them (he doesn't stay that way since Rainbow has to power up by the end). He has way too much energy for his own good, and often thinks on impulse, but sometimes his quick thinking is helpful.

Other friends that don't literally follow Rainbow around everywhere are Professor Redd, who acts as a strange uncle to the group, and Hypno, who Rainbow knew back when he was Ivan. Through that past aquaintanceship, he manages to take Hypno from enemy to wildcard ally who only Rainbow really likes, and who only really likes Rainbow.

My favorite memory is getting my friend into the Steve Saga. One day, I DM'd him, "this is the funniest thing I've seen all week," and just sent him a link to the Rainbow Steve Pickaxe episode (or the Galaxy losing control episode? It was either of those two.). My friend knew nothing about the Steve Saga but he still watched the video, thought it was hilarious, and decided to watch the entire series. And that's how I dragged him into this fandom. We drew so much Steve art and had so many Steve discussions together.

Hello! Head Admin Risk Here! I’ve been on break with this blog because of a lot of reasons.

First off, this blog is not discontinued. Simply to put it, this blog has been on hiatus. Returns to posting aren’t going to be too soon, but not as much as 2 years. Expect a break for another 3-4 months with occasional posts like reblogs of my 2021 sparklecat art and reblogs of other sparkleanimal archives.

I am hoping to return by November-December, the era of which I have returned and settled into my school and thus have a spare device to use for archiving. As well, I want to start a couple new tags/archives for this other than feral/sparkleanimal archives, like a “tribute” tag for a specific dead fandom that had caught my eye. The tribute would generally be screenshots of animations and writing collages of writers in the community.

Due to this, I’d like to ask to anyone here if they know of The Steve Saga (FavreMySabre) and was in the fandom during its original era in 2017-2019. So basically pre-Rainbow Quest/Twisted Rainbow/That space spinoff. If you do, please send over an ask telling me of your memories of the fandom during the era!

Steve Saga AU where Sabre has powers: every time he adopts another Steve, his dad sneezes get louder.

All the villains are so full of themselves but get scared by the Dad Sneeze, because they've never heard a sound like that before.

So Sabre has to keep finding Steves to adopt to build up his power as they all keep finding more powerful villains. It's the only way to stop the villains.

Do you think, back when Nightmare was evil but not yet controlled by Elemental, there were moments he encountered/spotted a Yellow and Red steve duo and couldn't bring himself to attack them?

I've never thought of this before. That's a cool thing to imagine!

Here's another thing to imagine: that Yellow and Red Steve duo defied him and told him he was wrong. This challenges Nightmare. Nightmare believed that he had to be evil. But these Steves who are like him tell him off, which showed that he didn't have to go down this evil path.

Am I upset that Memory Steve is not in Rainbow Quest? Nah, not really.

First of all, if Memory Steve isn’t needed in the story, then he doesn’t have to be added.

Second of all, if Memory was in the Rainbow Quest universe, he would most likely be associated with the Demon Steves or will be a type of Demon Steve. And the Internet has taught me that a Sharply Dressed Demon is too powerful for a fandom to handle.

So yeah, consider me as someone who is being pragmatic about Memory Steve and the lack of his presence in the Rainbow Quest universe lol
