what about the skeletons from Skyrim?
Tumblr media
Oh I was planning on doing these guys eventually, I love Skyrim. From a glance over they are pretty promising but let's get a little nit-picky for a moment heh. (Additional elaboration and image description under the cut) (Also for the sake of clarity since the photos wont go side by side for some reason I've just left the rating map)
Abridged rating: (very) good!
Tumblr media
Props for the attention to detail on the humerus (this is the upper arm bone), we can see quite a few land marks which is pretty cool!
The sternum is shaped a little strangely, but again this is fairly accurate as far as the bones and articulations to the ribs and sternum go. I do have some notes on the ribs, but that's just me being picky
All pelvic and tail bones are present, along with differentiation between the types of bones within the spinal column. Also some more appreciation for the attention to detail in the limbs
WHOA. First skeleton we can clearly see more of the carpals (hand bones) and the bones that make up the fingers. They look great, and most of the phalanges and metacarpals are where they ought to be
More good modeling of both the femur (upper leg bone) and the other bones that make up a leg. The articulation of the patella (knee) to the lower leg bones is also really nicely done
Like with the hands, we can see that there are differentiated tarsals (foot bones) and toes
Long of it:
The proper number of ribs seem to be there, and the scapula is really well represented. Some of the upper landmarks on the humerus we can see are the head, greater tuberosity, and intertubercular sulcus. Lower landmarks include the coronoid fossa, trochlea, capitulum, radial fossa, and the medial and later epicondyles
The manubrium, sternum, and xiphoid process are a little wide, but! I can safely assume that the number of ribs are accurately represented. I can't say I'm too keen on the way the ribs are articulated to the sternum, since it seems less like they've implied costal cartilage and more like they just extended the bone as needed
Sacrum and coccyx are there and properly articulated in a manner that doesn't imply they're one singular bone (which can be the case sometimes in media representations). The lumbar vertabrae have transverse processes where they belong. This goes for the cervical vertabrae too. Pelvic girdle looks solid, and we can see the pubic symphysis Femur landmarks are present and really nicely detailed- there's the intertrochanteric line, head, neck, greater and lesser trochanter, and trochanteric fossa on the upper part of the bone- really cool!
Hand carpals are all there it looks like, as are the metacarpals, distal, proximal, and median phalanges!
A little more on the leg bones- the lower part of the femur has the lateral and medial epicondyles, lateral and medial condyles, and adductor tubercle. It's a little trickier to see the landmarks on the patella, tibia, and fibula, but they do articulate well regardless
We can actually make out some of the specific tarsals here! There's the calcaneus at the heel, navicular, cuboid, talus, and the lateral, medial, and middle cuneiforms. All metatarsals and phalanges are there too (proximal, middle, and distal) Extra: At rest bow hold is good, but I'm aware that the game is more cinematic than accurate when it comes to how it all comes into practice. We can say that this skeleton shoots right handed though, since you hold the grip with your left if you're a righty and vice versa-

Feel free to add any additional observations or corrections! These are just the things that stood out to me
Description: above is a semi-realistic skeleton from Skyrim. There is an orange dotted circle labeled '1' around the left shoulder, another labeled '2' at the sternum, one labeled '3' around the pelvis skewed right, '4' around the right hand, '5' around the right knee, and '6' around the skeleton's left foot. The skeleton is in motion, holding an ancient nord bow in its left hand and moving forward with its left foot. The background is a greyish stone entryway the skeleton is stepping through into a similarly masoned room
below the elaborated example is a photo of a man holding a wooden recurve in his left hand while drawing with his right. the arrow is knocked properly on the left of the bow grip. the man is outside in what's probably an open field and wearing a black sweatshirt, an arm guard on his left forearm and a finger guard on his right index, middle, and ring fingers

Elden Ring
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another game skeleton- I haven't played Elden Ring myself but this was suggested by a friend when I was working on the original project. I also wanted to do a good example after that last one as a way of showing what makes a relatively good skeleton. (Additional elaboration and image description under the cut)
Abridged rating: good
All 12 ribs seem to be present or implied to be present given the stance
The sternum has the necessary bones, though they do sort of meld together. The circle is also trying to go around the spine, which is also a pretty great representation
You can see some of the femoral (upper leg bone) land marks and it articulates well with a pretty good representation of pelvic bones
We can see the bones that make up the tail bone are present and well detailed
Hard to see with this photo, but there are individual carpals (hand bones). There could be the right number of phalanges (finger bones) but its hard to say
Like with the hands, there are individual tarsals and it looks like there could be the right number of phalanges, but the shapes also sorta meld together like we see with the sternum's bones
Long of it:
The 12 ribs appear to be present, but there is also a bit of (implied) space between the ribs and the articulation with the sternum. It's a little clearer on some of the other models that there is a space, and this is accurate since ribs don't really connect directly to the sternum. They're connected through costal cartilage
There's a manubrium and xiphoid process! They do sort of meld with the sternum like I mentioned before, but they are present. The melding isn't really too much of an issue, since the connection between these three bones (manubrium, sternum, xiphoid) is pretty smooth. The spinous processes are also pretty prevalent as needed, and you can see that there is some differentiation between lumbar, thoracic, and cervical bones within the spinal column
It's really neat how detail the femurs are- you can sort of see a greater trochanter, neck, head, lateral condyle & epicondyle, and medial condyle & epicondyle. The shape and articulation of the tibia and fibula are accurate too
Sacrum and coccyx!
About the same as the abridged- if I want to get fancier with it, you can sort of see what might be a trapezium on the armed hand
There's a calcaneus, cuneiform bones, and the cuboid bone
Feel free to add any additional observations or corrections! These are just the things that stood out to me
Description: on the left is a semi-realistic skeleton from Elden Ring. There is an orange dotted circle labeled '1' around the left shoulder, another labeled '2' at the sternum and part of the spine, one labeled '3' at the right hip where the femur (upper leg bone) meets the pelvis, '4' around the tail bone, '5' around a right hand holding a scimitar, and '6' around the skeleton's left foot. The skeleton is in motion, holding a shield in its left hand and moving forward with its right foot. The background is a whitish stone archway and grey floor, with white candles on a ledge a little ways behind the skeleton
on the right is a relatively accurate model of a human skeleton, the ribs are a shade of blue while the rest of the model is white. It is on a black background
