These new slabs are flying out of here, but we still have plenty left for your projects. Huge selection of #BlackWalnut #slabs, which are our specialty. Also, many #Maple, #SiberianElm, #Cedar, #Redwood, #Sequoia, #Cherry and #Pine. All of our slabs come from #urban #salvaged trees around the #Portland metro area that need to be removed for the safety of the property as they are dying. They are brought to our property, milled at 3 inches, stickered, stacked and dried undercover for up to 2 years before carefully kiln-dried till they are at 8 to 10% mc. After they come out of the kiln they acclimate in our shop for a few weeks before we plane each slab and photograph them for our website. @jewellhardwoods you receive the highest quality possible in wood slabs. #Qualitytakestime - We will NOT take shortcuts. Just couldn't wait!!! Had to show you a sneak peek of what is in the showroom now waiting for its photoshoot before these beautiful pieces go to their new homes. (The #Redwood Flower #CoffeeTable is available for purchase). #love how this collection turned out. All the #blackwalnut pieces came from 2 huge Black Walnut Slabs. This most recent project was done for a client who wanted a #BlackWalnut #custom #dining #table as well as a side table for their dining room. The benefit of been able to source all of our own wood from our inventory gives us first pick for our clients. The sideboard table is made from a single piece made into a waterfall edge, as well as another single piece slab that became the drawers for the face. #WeLoveOurCustomers and all the creativity they ask us to bring to life. This slab made the perfect example to showcase our option of using a tinted epoxy for slabs where the crack or hole goes all the way through the slab. Our client came to us with a color for us to match the epoxy to the best of our ability. The slab is from one of the most #stunning #curly #BlackWalnut logs we milled up over 2 1/2 years ago. #treetothetable When we were taking pictures of the finished #table we couldn't help but shine lights underneath to show off the tinted epoxy. The #tree that was rescued for this table was dying and the homeowner had us remove it for the safety of their #pdx neighborhood. We milled the log in February 2014 into 3 inch slabs. The slabs then air dried undercover for about 20 months before they were put into our Kiln. Our client saw the picture (top left) of the slab that was taken right after it was milled. She then placed a deposit to reserve the slab for her table. After the set was taken out of the kiln we took a picture for her of the slabs planed and trimmed as a book-match (top right). We filled the "W" knot area with epoxy mixed with the sawdust of that slab (bottom left) and after much sanding and more epoxy work we sprayed multiple coats of a 2-part conversion varnish as the finish. (Bottom right) Our most popular base was selected, The Xavier and will now be featured in our clients home in #Seattle.
