Family

papa never kissed goodbye

waved but never smiled

and so i looked up at the sky

didn't want to be his child

mama never saw me high

thought everything was fine

wasn't i just oh so shy

didn't think that was a sign

papa never hid his stash

lived life as a blast

should've known it all would crash

picture perfect doesn't last

mama never looked at me

didn't see me in my agony

and so i climbed the tree

i'd die without a family

hush now, darling, you've cried a million times before

if it gets too much, simply close the door

hush now, darling, the stars are bright tonight

please grab a drink, your hands are clasped too tight

hush now, darling, the beast has awoken

feed it what it needs, perhaps it is a token

hush now, darling, the trees are all aflame

just don't forget, you're not the one to blame

hush now, darling, they've become so blind

don't think too hard, you're drowning in your mind

hush now, darling, survive for a bit longer

you can still be so much stronger

hush now, darling, i know it's hard

but please don't let it tear you apart
